Pretty sure Vector being "a man of God" is a reference to being "on a mission from God" ala the Blues Brothers. Considering his love of music, evolving from back when Sonic was in a band, and the tone of that movie... that actually makes even more sense than just a random "oh he luv jesus" tidbit in a non-Christian game manual. Fits right in with the Japanese sense of being "hip and cool" and "America" from the 1990s.

I love the dynamic between the Chaotix in Sonic Heroes and they quickly became my favorite Sonic characters after playing that. Especially when Vector is the one who actually knew the plot twist before his team, showing he's not dumb. I also love how Charmy looks up to Vector and mimics him. And how Espio seems like he's being dragged along for the ride, but is just fine with it, and keeps his serious disposition all the time, which juxtaposes with the silly scenarios they get themselves in. I got carried away, the Chaotix are just too good

Vector is dope. Vector is groovy. His modern depiction isn't far off, from his classical. Chaotix gathered to investigate something they thought was strange. There's the detective aspect. The loners of the group, Mighty+Ray and Knuckles left because Knuckles already has a job and M/R are hermits. That's why the team consists of the guys who had literally nothing better to do. Vector's love of money and his image are in his classic design, with his gold belt, gold shoes and gold headphones. He's still the only sonic character accessorizing with gold. He just traded the belt for a more modern chain and Walkman(well it's sonic, so Runman? Maybe?) for a wireless headset. The gold socks are traded for gold trim in his high top boots.

I have to admit, Vector REALLY grew on me as a character. First off, his design is probably one of the most unique in the franchise. Rather than being just a sonic copy with a round center and noodle limbs, he's got that massive, imposing stature that really gives him the "lumbering oaf" vibe you would believe him to have. But surprisingly, he's no oaf. I'm honestly surprised how charming his personality is. He's a musclebound, hot-headed, loudmouth who has a temper that would make even Knuckles or Shadow look like saints. But beneath that tough-guy exterior, its clear that he's a total push over. The reason him and his team are so in debt is that he just can't bring himself to take money from good people who truly need his help. And on the topic of his personality... Even though he's a total hothead, he's actually a true genius. In the Archie comics especially, he's proven time and time again that he has one of the smartest minds in the franchise, even to the point he's a step ahead of Tails to figuring out a villain's plan. He's a lumbering, loud mouthed, Goliath who subverts every expectation in the right way. You'd expect his personality to turn him into a selfish, dumb, meathead... when he's really a complete softie with a brain thats constantly whirring. I cant help myself. This croc is one of my favorite characters. Hes just bursting at the seams with charm and it sucks they don't use him more.

They were pretty obscure characters back then though since at first they only appeared in the Sonic manga though they were designed by the Sonic Team around the same time as Vector, Mighty and Ray.

As far as I know, they were not created by SEGA, but by a company that made a Sonic Manga series for school children and SEGA just decided to loosely adapt Amy and Charmy into the games as new characters. But of course, since that Manga was never released outside of Japan, people in the west really had no way to know this before the internet. Their designs looked pretty odd though. It’s funny that Amy was originally brown and was turned pink in the games while Sally started off pink and turned brown later on.

I think there's a game of telephone going on here. As far as I know, it's not that "currency no longer exists," it's that the comics and cartoons previously used things like Mobiums in offhanded comments when a character mentioned money, but Rings have been used as currency in the games since the Adventure era, so now expanded media uses those as the de facto currency.

You know what? I think its cool too, because he doesn't make a whole THING of it. He's a man of god, but he's not a proselytizer/solicitor. He has his beliefs, but he's not gonna bite your head off over it. Figuratively or literally. And he actually lives up to the virtues when you think about it. The reason he's always trying to scrape up cash is because he's so dang kind and charitable, always helping people out and working pro bono. I think there is a reason why he has a cassette based walkman instead of a diskman. Vector is one of the oldest members of the main Sonic cast at 20 years old, where almost everyone else is in their teens at most. His age was never explicitly stated until Heroes came out but perhaps the fact that he still listened to cassette tapes was a hint that he was always meant to be an older character.

Chaos isn't a god. He was called one, but he was really just a mutated chao who used the chaos emeralds to make himself more powerful when he destroyed the echidnas in retaliation for attacking the Master Emerald shrine and hurting his fellow chao. That's the official word of god from the Adventure Era, and supported by the Chaos Chao you can breed in SA2's Chao Garden.

A true big G God in the theological sense is not a being but really the concept of being itself, like a living first law or principle of reality. I think western philosophy like Plato probably influenced the wests ideas a lot in that regard so I dont know if it ever made its way to japan. Although Hindus have a similar thing with Brahman.

Funny because that first picture sega did with the "sonic band" not just made way for Vector, but it also is the main inspiration for Cocounuts, Scratch and the purple rabbit well ended up like one of the iconic flickies that comes from the badniks, so in a way that single picture might be one of the most influential pieces of artwork in the entire franchise. I honestly always thought of Espio as the leader of the Chaotix, granted, I didn't play a lot of games that the group was in, but I played a few, and every time the Chaotix were there, Espio seemed like the leader to me

He's the Leader Heroes forward. Some things that can help you tell are -He is always in the middle during Heroes cutscenes -He's calling the shots in the opening -He gives Espio directions in Rivals 2 In the US Knux is leader in the first game and Espio is in Japan. Espio is also the only one to originally be a detective.

If there was a detective mystery spinoff for The Chaotix I would buy it. They could use it as an excuse to bring back criminals such as Fang The Sniper and Bean The Dynamite, maybe even the polar bear. You'd be exploring a city of anthro characters like them and perhaps some new characters, and each member of the Chaotix would have their own specialty. Charmy would be best for infiltration of course and getting into a building undetected, unless Espio could fit through and his thing would be stealth and intelligence gathering, while Vector would be the muscle of the group yet he'd be the leader and have some deductive reasoning and have the larger picture of it all, yet be an intimidating figure for anyone who would usually not spill the beans. Their theme song in Sonic Heroes just brings to mind so many possibilities for a spinoff title with the Chaotix and giving them more focus.

That whole Vector has feelings for Vanilla was only a Sonic X thing and it’s funny how people took Sonic X as the cannon thing to the games and other stuff. Vector being pilot to Vanilla when she, Cream, and General wants to help the Chaotix take a lunch break in IDW comics got fans thinking they were in love. Sonic X does this a lot and people take all of Sonic X and their characters as part of the Games, might be because of Sonic X art style.

Something a lot of people seem to overlook. Vector's last big role wasn't Sonic Heroes. It was Shadow the Hedgehog. Where Vector [And the other Chaotix] literally saved the world. And they did it all *in the background* . Firstly; you have to consider that it is entirely possible to play through all 3 missions that have the Chaotix in 1 run of Shadow the Hedgehog; and complete their missions. In fact; Charmy's mission leads right into Espio's. [And when you consider the mission between Espio and Vector's is a literal flashback...]. But Charmy is after the discs that contain confiscated data from Gerald and the raid on the ARC; stored at Prison Island. Espio wants to acquire the data that Eggman has gathered on his grandfather's research [And also how he saved Shadow]. The then, Vector wants to find *Gerald's* computer room to decrypt all the information, since presumably whatever Gerald's done to jumble the data can be undone at his computer. [Also Charmy makes the computer work just like how Shadow did in front of them before Mad Matrix... by karate chopping it.] And then the Chaotix manage to find out about Shadow's creation, and find Gerald's message which they play during the Last Story. Which leads to Shadow finding the resolve to defeat Devil Doom. The *Chaotix* are the real heroes of Shadow the Hedgehog. And they're even just doing their detective thing at that. This also means that Shadow the Hedgehog does have a canon main playthrough; although you can do any ending of Westopolis and any Level 2. But as long as you end up at Prison Island -> Mad Matrix -> Lost Impact -> Cosmic Fall; that's a potential canon route. As weird as it might sound; Shadow the Hedgehog shows the Chatoix doing their detective work the best.
