Gameboy Advance SP - No Sound

Fixing a Gameboy Advance SP with no sound purchased cheap at a Goodwill.

I did this with mine and that fixed it as well! Be advised: if you do too large a piece of tape/paper it will mess with the distance of other contacts on the board once you screw it back together. The lighting button has been janky (but still usable) since I did this fix.

Yoo, thanks for the video! One of the contacts was smooshed down, stuck a folded piece of paper under them and all is good again!

Pray for me I am going to open mine up and try and do this. I just want it to work for the memories. Nice video!! Edit: It works!!! I put it back together wrong the first time (but figured it out) but bending the little prongs worked. Thank you so much you have no idea how much this means to me. I’ve been replaying Pokémon firered but it just wasn’t the same without sound. But now it works like new!

I think I have the same model. I use my gameboy to play Tetris and Tetris 2, some really fun games to sit back with. I'd like to see the mods that you want to do, actually sounds like an awesome project(s) I might want to try out.

Question. What is that cleaning pen that you used on the coils called?

The sound on my SP works perfectly as well as the volume control. What doesn't work is the headphone port. The port charges perfectly but the sound through the headphones is almost absent. I've found nothing on the internet exclusively regarding this problem - zero, and I find that to be very strange. Any ideas?

Bad plug or solder joint? Wouldn't know without seeing it or knowing anything about it. Could still be a bad cap as the audio signal passes through a cap before going to the headphone output.

So if it still don't work after all this then it's the speaker thats bad huh..i tried everything you did but still no sound..only thing I didn't use was what you used to clean the spots but I did try the round piece on another gameboy so It might not be just a bad connection

My sound worked fine. Then I switched the shell and everything works but the sound.

Probably disconnected the wire

I would replace the shell at that point
