GREAT REVIEW. I recently got mine from Amazon a few days ago. And I'd really like to add something to your review. There will be a few people that might have some issues with the HDMI.. I use a LG 4K 55in TV, it's about 3 years old. And for some odd reason when using the HDMI out on the MK-2 after about 5 or so minutes of gameplay I will get a 3 to 5sec audio lag. Luckily the guys that put this adapter out there were actually pretty helpful, it seems this is a issue with how the gamecube produces the audio when using hdmi and depending on the monitor some people will have this unfixable issue. But they did add the audio AUX out on the MK-2 so if anyone gets this issue as I have they can use that, or just completely ignore the HDMI and just use the Wii component cables as that's what I've been doing, and the picture looks identical. A very expensive adapter but aslong as it doesnt crap out on me it's still a great option if you want to actually use your gamecube and not the awkward Wii. Lol

Damn, I guess I'm lucky enough to not have encountered this issue. Thanks for sharing it, because I had no idea this was even a thing.

I would like to see more of these kind of hardware videos. That's a very interesting topic for me as a video quality fan. The Mark 2 adapter seems to be really nice. I have a internal HDMI modded Gamecube already though so I won't get it.
@AvalancheReviews6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, all the Gamecube adapters use the same GCVideo process, so there's no real point in leaving one for another, unless you're using an upscaler, since analog is much easier to work with on that front.
@puma00856 жыл бұрын
@@AvalancheReviews Yeah that is true. For upscaling HDMI is not the best solution. I connected my modded Cube with Framemeister just for fun, but the result was not that good. So I use it directly on my TV. Although my TV has 4k already the 480p image looks quite nice. Also 480i stuff looks ok. But just in case I want to use upscaled Gamecube Games one day I am thinking of getting S Video Gamecube cable for the Framemeister.

does the Wii use the same processing sequence for Game cube games? i had an HDMI adapter for my wii that i used to play Residnet Evil in 480p
@AvalancheReviews6 жыл бұрын
No, the Wii has its own video output process that leads to a much softer and less detailed 480p image.

So, is this actually allowing for a superior picture quality from the game boy player than the official component cables? That's how I played GB/GBA games for years, and was under the impression that was as good as it gets on Nintendo hardware...
@AvalancheReviews6 жыл бұрын
Ok, so there's two answers there. The Gameboy interface is what makes for a better picture than the disc that comes with your Gameboy player. The original disc took the gbas 240p and converted it to 480i with some nasty filtering. Gbi shoots out true 240p and the adapter let's you output that with better quality than composite or svideo.

I’m actually having problems with my GCHD MK-2. I have some vids on it in my channel. Linked EON to vids and they aren’t really sure what’s going on. Basically there are artifacts on both HDMI and Component via direct connection, no splitters or switchers. I’m also getting distorted audio on mine. I’ve tried on three different GameCubes and a combination of different HDMI/component cables, monitors/RGB modded consumer crt/PVM. All resulting in the same artifacts/audio distortion. :(
@AvalancheReviews6 жыл бұрын
I can't really say what's causing the audio issues, but I took a look at your RE4 example, and that's not an issue with your GC or the GCHD. The Gamecube runs at a pretty low color depth, and at 480p, you can see some vertical banding. Think of it like Nintendo's version of the Megadrive's world famous dithering. Watch this, and skip to 26min. It'll explain it a little better. kzbin.info/www/bejne/boOlmJV3bambg5I

Sadly I'm on a fixed income and at $150 that still an expensive purchase. I'm hoping the Company Pound will come out with a version of the HD link cable for GameCube like they did with the PS2 and OG Xbox and those both go for $30 USD and are pretty good cables. It beats using crappy component cables.
