The MkII is definitely an interesting piece of hardware that I've had a different outlook on recently. After watching MLiG's video for these adapters, the MkII and CARBY both cover different kinds of features that certain customers might be looking for so even though the price range is night and day between the two, both serve a good purpose to its targeted customers. For me personally, $149 is a tough pill to swallow plus I like the remote that comes with it so I'll be buying a CARBY for my Gamecube. However, if money wasn't an issue and I didn't care about the price tag then I'd probably get a MkII for all those extra features it has. Using Wii component cables alongside an HDMI cable is a nice feature.

SkyScourgeGod I’m going with the Carby also. The MkII is nice, but I honestly probably wouldn’t use the extra features. If they were closer in price, I might get the MkII, just in case I wanted to play around with them

You can still use the frameister with the first eon model due to the frameister having 2 HDMI inputs and use the line dubbing , triple and etc.

So if they released the MkII, did they dropped the price on the first one as well? I hope they do cause it wouldn't make sense to priced both of them the same. Hope they did that and not replace the first one with the second one as I don't really care that much about the extra stuff they add to the second one.

I believe the original has been discontinued and the MkII is the only version available moving forward. There may be old stock on store shelves but all new stock will be the MkII.

Hey! Maybe you can help me out. When Im using the GCHD MK-ii and hooking it to my monitor, there's always black bars at the top and bottom. Did you just crop the image or were your black bars also present? Do all gamecubes just happen to have a "forced widescreen" look that I dont remember using black bars? Or is there a setting somewhere Im missing?

I did not have any bars, I wonder if the fact that you're using a monitor is causing it? Have you tried just a TV?

RoXolid Productions that was going to be my next test. I’m also running it through an El Gato, so once I test it on a TV, if the bars are gone I’ll at least know it’s either the monitor or ElGato. Thanks for the reply!

I have the Mark II as well.... I can't seem to get it to ever boot into 480p mode.... But, I always hold B from powering on the system. I've never seen the actual prompt that showed up when you started the game. Maybe I'm not supposed to hold it from power on - perhaps after the GC logo goes away? Or do I have to boot to the game cube cube option screen first?

OK, I figured it out. I just realized that holding b for 480p is dependant on whether the gamecube game natively supports it. I thought it was a feature of the mkII

Hey nice vid. I got my MK II cables for $100 from Pink Gorilla Games. They had $50 off of preorder a couple months ago for some reason haha. The picture quality to me is better than the Official GC component cables so it's worth it in the long run. However yes it is way overpriced. The only reason these cost so much is because they're going off of the unofficial price of the GC component cables on Ebay to drive up cost. MK II should be $60 max.

Could not disagree with that pricing assessment more. Molding, tooling, R&D, marketing, getting compliance certifications, it all costs money. I would be surprised if the CoGs of this isn't over $100/unit.

@@RoXolid Cheaper an better connector. EON has more features but for me personally I would never use the extra features I just want the HDMI and that's it. So Carby is just better for my personal use, obviously its different for each individual person's needs.
