It's why server meshing (SM) is so important. Once you get to a solid 30fps, it's a different game entirely. They can also pack more players & more NPCs in while keeping that performance. These are the kind of missions we need but they've always been so hamstrung by the performance of one server. Can't have 500 people all meet in one place until dynamic SM but fixed SM will be the thing that makes it feel like a full game and less like an alpha. I'm telling you, 4.0 is the start of a new era in this game.

Yeah, during that first xeno threat it was fun. But sometimes when you see yourself fall through the elevator, die, 30k and then unable log in three times in a row, it gets really frustrating. Lately, however, it's been much better

Yeah that’s why I’m taking a break. All the mechanics and missions are awesome. It’s just the server performance and some bugs that keep it from being a good experience. Nothing feels worse than spending a lot of time and effort to do something. And than at the end the game screws you over by glitching or crashing in a way where you lose all progress or gains from that activity. Then it just feels like a waste of time.

My computer with a 4090 just still can’t play to many server crashes and I haven’t been able to Play so I’m very exited when is optimized ;)

It's going to sound like pure hype or hopium. But this will be more of the norm once server meshing (SM) is in. At a server 30fps, it's an entirely different game. They've been so limited by server performance that stuff like this just wasn't possible until the replication layer update. More players, NPCs, and at good server framerates. Not 500 players in one spot until dynamic SM but they'll get there. But it will feel more like a complete game and less of a janky alpha. 4.0 will be the start of a new era for this game. I am always loving seeing Kate's videos. Always an absolute treasure.

I hear you. I experienced a variety of ship mobility issues in the PTU while this video was being filmed (which i why I showed up late to that DC attack). QT failing, unable to switch out of SCM mode, and even no movement at all. The risks of the test server are ever present.

Gonna be fun. Got to remember not donning any yellow/brown armor. Best to come out with an entirely different color scheme. And hope players aren't color-blind. That said, on the outside the armor freezes and you turn white. I think I'll do a different sort of approach, though.

Looks like there was an advantage to wearing the Fieldsbury Bear helmet to identify yourself as a player. Maybe the Mandible helmet or other rare helmets the NPCs would not be wearing. You could relay that to others in chat. The backpacks would also work in that regard, as you discovered.

PU_SPECOPS is an NPC not a player, your first reaction was correct. The question is: why were there some friendly NPC's there at all, and perhaps they should be marked as mission allies in the same way that players are

My only issue is how they keep making these major events that affect *all* players centered around combat. Why not some kinda logistics based event like transporting certain goods to various jump points? It would've made a lot more sense to showcase and test the new cargo systems rather than what they did with the blockade event. Hell, during the blockade event, I'd often find myself trapped on stations, unable to escape because I don't have any combat-based ships and my dogfighting skills are complete ass regardless. Even if I tried to get out by flying as fast as I can in my Pisces, they'd just chase me down and blow me up before I could escape. I just think these events should have more variety in what their goals are rather than just combat so every part of the community can have fun, and that won't hinder players who play the game for other things than combat.
