Remember folks, the assets in these types of bundles are final, and most likely, will not receive new updates. Pay attention to the blender versions they support. Take that in mind, it is super important.

Yep, extremely important. At least this time Humble made that detail much more apparent. The bundle still represents a hell of a deal, but that limitation is certainly one every needs to be aware of, as you wont get updates and if your version isnt supported, you're SOL. On the bright side, the most popular assets tend to be very compatible with a broad number of versions.

Frozen in time version isn't _too_ bad, in that Blender 4.2 is LTS and supported for a couple of years. By the time you'd really need to update, you'd have a much more informed perspective on what you actually need and what you can live without. Many of the plugins here are also asset packages, which don't get "outdated" in the traditional sense. Traffiq was real cars though, so the license is very restrictive. With HOps/BCutter, they leave behind very messy topology, so you'd probably also want to consider Quad Remesher to go with it. That's going to cost you a bit more :p

Is the one from this bundle the updated version compared to the last blender humble bundle deal? Cuz if that's the case, we might as well wait for an end-of-the-year blender HB deal. I know it's not a guarantee, but from what I've read at CG Cookie's website on hosting HB deals, they seem enthusiastic to promote more blender stuff as deals since it's so successful, especially when it also contributes to charities.

you really want the updates for those. blender breaks plugins almost every freaking time they goto a new version. those two also update alot and are worth the price alone. the other ones you need are machine tools, decal machine, zen uv...and go look at plasticity...which is taking over hs modeling.

I'm not buying $1200 worth of plugins, so I guess I'm stuck on the one version of Blender for a good long while. Also Plasticity desperately needs an interactive operation history like every other parametric modeller ever made.

Look at it this way, you're paying one dollar to try out each plugin.

Yeah it's a great deal. You "own" it and if a tool saves a few hours of work, it pays for itself. Doesn't matter if you don't get future updates because what works now will work (with specific versions of Blender).

There are some good addons there, and I have most of them already, hops is the one i use the most. I bought the last one but got very angry when I saw that there was no updates

They screwed up on the first Blender Market bundle by not making that super apparent up front ( I didn't even know ). This time it is at least MUCH clearer, so people at least know what they are getting. I obviously would love if it was redemption keys and you get to keep the addons forever, but I also get why Blender Market wouldn't do that. I do think even without updates it represents a hell of a bargain, but yeah, making that caveat clear up front is super important.

How to know which version is being packed in the bundle? For each addon, does the bundle include the latest version at the time of download? There is no info. The "publisher" directly takes me to Blender market.

I was a hops user around version 4.1 of Blender and I didn't like how it tanked the viewport performance back then. I believe the addon improved much and I have a better machine now but nowadays I moved to Plasticity for all my hard surface needs. Also, the link to the bundle is kinda sus, my adblocker immediately closes the tab.

Yeah I saw that too. Humble switched their link system and it seems to trigger ublock, at least on KZbin. I'm going to talk with them about it and hopefully get it sorted.

I often wondered, can you use a frozen in time version of a plugin on a future version of Blender?

Depends on if the underlying code has changed in a way that makes it incompatible.

13 minutes of basically nothing, you used to make good content and now it's mostly fluff. wish you change your way if presenting your content. you show us nothing of use in professional setting, also you seems like you make your videos without screenwriting or pre writing script.

I somewhat agree with your take. Though, my expectations were pretty low knowing his other videos on Blender and add-ons. If he were to do a professional model it'd take a longer time to record, edit, etc., use more add-ons than what he wanted to focus on, and he probably has a different workflow than professional companies. He wanted to get this video out so people could jump on the bundle since it'll end in a day.
