Im so happy for you! This is amazing! Ive been playing Persona for many years. SMT, and Persona 3 onwards. I love the battle mechanics in general and the fusion options. Also love how theyve been going into various genres, like Q (DRPGs) and strategy (like this). They have great voice acting that is repayable - awesome for practice- and i love how languge can quite often be changed too if it gets too challenging haha

A HUGE huge thank you to the amazing people over at SEGA for supporting the Game Gengo community!! It's an absolute dream come true to have SEGA's support! Truly a lifetime achievement for me! I grew up recording myself playing Sonic 2 on VHS, to think now someone over there is enjoying and wanting to support the channel is absolutely INSANE! Nothing but appreciation, seriously, from the bottom of my heart, thanks so much everyone for all your support of the channel! I hope you're having fun learning Japanese!!

Crazy cool that you're getting official endorsements now! I'm looking for some new games to play after I'm done with 13 Sentinels and I have never played Persona before, but I do like the art style in this and the language seems just right for my level. It's great to see loads of the same vocabulary pop up here as well, like 騒ぎ and 解除.

A MUCH DESERVED endorsement for someone as awesome as you Matt! So happy for your partnership and only wish more to come! As for my favorite thing about Persona, it has to be the music and narrative. I love character development and the Persona series never disappoints in that category!

My favorite thing about Persona has always been the setting and social links. I always feel like because of the "real life sim" part of the game, I'm getting a small insight to Japanese daily life that few other games have. Then getting to know the interesting characters that inhabit that setting and learning their stories is the best! I've always wanted Persona to be the first game I play in full Japanese and thanks to Sega moving them to PC, I have so many options to do that with now. Gone are the days of exclusively playing Persona 4 Golden on my old PS Vita!

So great to see SEGA sponsor you! The music in Persona 5 is so good that I listen to them when I drive around town all the time ❤
@Samuelkuchle Жыл бұрын
First of all, congratulations with your sponsorship with Sega! It's must have felt like such a huge milestone. Regardless of sponsorship this video has your usual high level of quality as expected. One of the reasons I want to try playing Persona in Japanese is because of their use of a little more "natural" japanese in the way characters speak. As for favourite characters or moments, I think one of the Social Links in P4 where Yosuke kinda fights in the usual male-friendship way and after the fight is done he thanks you for being his friend and how he connected with you because you were also an outsider to the town and how struggle at beginning. You can see how's not easy for Yosuke to admit that, and it's such and incredible bonding moment that anyone can relate to.

That is actually huge! I'm so stoked for this channel, you have no idea. Ofc, I love the actual help since I'm learning japanese, but this kind of content is pretty interesting to a bigger audience as well.

Whether it be a movie, music or video games, this will be the next evolution of natural, efficient, language acquisition. I especially love the press to advance the dialogue and the log feature. It really helps to check my work once I’ve gotten the gist of a conversation and without the option of press to advance, I wouldn’t be able to take the abnormally long time that it takes me to read anything. Pausing on each bit of dialogue allows me to take a screenshot create word list/flashcards on my phone. I re-round the PC audio to an old recording device meant for a guitar pedalboard, then send the snippets of audio to a transcription app where I can loop the audio over and over until I can at least recognize all the sounds. In the initial video on how to learn Japanese through video games, the advice was given to understand the language presented and move on and overtime. I have discovered this is the most optimal way to learn. It guarantees that you will mainly remember the things that you come across to the most well keeping things fun and engaging.

I've always loved the Persona series because of how great the characters are written. They all have such amazing stories, and you see real meaningful development with them as the games progress. It was thanks to you I recently started P3 on the switch in Japanese to help me learn, and I've been writing my own game script as I go, translating everything along the way. It's been an amazing experience, I've learned so much, and because the game's language and setting are so modern it's language I find useful in everyday conversation. So thanks for the recommendation, and and for all the great and helpful content you've released! Keep it going!!

It was actually Persona (along with Yakuza/Like a Dragon) that inspired me to start to learn Japanese! These games helped me a lot during some of the most difficult parts in my life, and I realized that I wanted to help make these games reach other people which is why my current goal is to become a Japanese to English translator. I'm actually just about to finish up my elementary Japanese class in college today, and you're videos have been a wonderful resource for review! Keep up the great work Matt!

31:05 A lil correction: I think he is referring to "third year students will soon graduate" since the protagonist is a second year student at the beginning of Persona 5, and this game takes place probably shortly after Persona 5 ended, so the protagonist would soon become a third year student.

Persona to me is really special , because that's why I found Game Gengo channel as I was looking for study material including my new aquired game (Persona 5) and I found a vocab video, so I got to find this family for some years now. Persona also gave me interest in going to Japan as it showed Tokyo corners, and it's pretty accurate with reality, like Yakuza games. Above all, this game is one of my favorites of all time with an excelent ost, characters and "Steal your Heart" 🤍 Awesome video too, hope the change of setup and airs can bring you more joy in doing and sharing what you love 😊

If I'm being honest, it's a sense of belonging. You get that in a lot of persona games, and quite frankly long JRPGs. But, I think that's significant. The gaming medium lets you, well... do things, not just be an observer. And for a lot of people, doing things together is how they show affection. I'll never forget how persona games just happened to be during my student life. I'd take exams simultaneously sometimes lol. And, now after a year of Japanese studying, I find out that Persona can be really good for learning Japanese! It's like I'm a student again lol. So, yeah. I'm still just learning more vocabulary in JP, but I'd love to play Persona in JP in the future. It'd be awesome to relive the student life with persona again.

I love Persona 5 (the only one I've played) because of the characters and gameplay. No matter who you are, you WILL find a character you relate to, and that character for me is Akechi (my favorite character in any form of media). And I love the gameplay because of how it encourages strategic play in all fights (at unless you're over leveled or grab Izanagi-no-okami-picaro, but that's beside the point)

I really love Persona 5 because of the OST being absolute fire and it's hard not to play on repeat, and I also definitely adore Akechi. Akechi's a complex character where you sympathize and also dislike him to a degree because of everything he goes through and what he does in the game (aka murder people to eventually take out his dad), only making his life out to be just revenge on Shido for destroying his mom's life. I wish Akechi had a happier ending and I'm glad he got some kind of good treatment in Royal (and I hope he gets good treatment in this game as well!).
