I know this comment is old but here's a fun fact. Near sightedness only became really prevalent after the invention of the printing press--when the masses could actually afford and use books, newspapers, and anything else that could be printed. When the printing press was invented, people realized that everybody was farsighted and couldn't actually read the things that the press was outputting. This issue fueled the development of curved glass capable of manipulating light in a way that adjusted for this eye-sight shortcoming. monopoly nerd here, late but i haven't watched the next episode. ARIN: benito didn't need to be bankrupted by what they landed on, but he was given a gift in the form of unmortgaged properties. as i said last episode, he REALLY needed to mortgage everything and build up on something. I would have immediately sprung for hotels on LBlue, which would have net him over 400 dollars from kevina on that last turn. but right now he's just floating around with a couple of low-threat spaces. consolidate, and knockout. nickles and dimes won't win this game. DAN: kinda screwed. best case scenario, could have consolidated a bit more on red by mortgaging the railroad early but idk if it would have made a difference BENITO: could have mortgaged to survive, wasn't doing that bad. should have consolidated wealth on LBlue while he had it- greens were doing nothing for him and chasing after that was not going to work out. KEVINA: obviously running away with this game. BUT- it's because of what i talked about with arin and dan: consolidate on your monopolies! too many players are afraid to mortgage incomplete sets. you need to land on an unbuilt, un-set-complete property anywhere between 8 and 30 times for it to "pay for itself", half that for mortgage value (which is still way more landings than will realistically happen in a game of monopoly when played well). Just take your capital and give yourself mobility. Kevina did that, and is winning hard.

Dan! Near sighted (or Short sighted) is when you can see things well up close, but not far away. Far sighted (or Long sighted) is the opposite of that, so they can see long distances well but not up close. I'm near sighted. But I don't have a very long range of clear vision at all. Things start to get fuzzy at arms length and continue getting blurry the further away it is. I wear prescription glasses most of the time unless I'm just at home on my phone or something.

To answer Dan's question, near sighted means you can only see things that are near, far sighted means you can see better when things are far away. It's really easy to remember which one near sighted is when you're near sighted and have to hold things an inch away from your face in order to see it.

I’m convinced there’s a parallel universe where Kevina and Benito have their own show. They decided to do a monopoly challenge where they team up against the AI. Benito hands Kevina all the properties she wants while he takes the rest and tries to keep some cash in case they need it. But he’ll make stupid deals with the quote-on-quote AIs just because he really loves good deals. There’s even a community joke that Benito’s ideal afternoon is going bankrupt at a used car lot.

Dan if you ever see this, ALWAYS prioritize the property with travel cards to it- IE Illinois AVE, St. James plce, Board Walk, etc. Not to mention that Illinois may just be the most landed on space in monopoly, AND it grants the most money with a house on it. But I'm enjoying regardless.
