In the 24 years that Insomniac Games has been around, they've maintained a strong presence in the industry with original, beloved titles like Spyro, Ratchet & Clank, and Sunset Overdrive. At 4:08 Ted says that they view themselves as underdogs; and explains their reasoning. I can definitely see where they are coming from, sure they've made Spyro and Ratchet & Clank, but also Resistance 3, Sunset Overdrive and Ratchet & Clank (2016) which while good games, didn't had exceptional sales. They are underdogs in the sense that, despite being veterans, the name Insomniac doesn't have quite the same weight that Rockstar, Naughty Dog, PlatinumGames, Santa Monica or even younger devs like CD Projekt Red have. I wasn't trying to underestimate their talent or history, what I meant was that Spider-Man could very well catapult them to those new heights.

However, the impact of the Avengers and other Marvel characters are still felt, given the existence of Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Santorum and Avengers Tower within the game.

I've always looked at Naughty Dog and Insomniac as rival studios. Ever since the Spyro and Crash days. Then it was Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank going head to head but now they have kinda diverged. Naughty Dog tells more mature stories like Uncharted and The Last of Us while Insomniac goes with that more comedic approach with games like Sunset Overdrive. Both studios will forever be sharing my top spot for favorite game studio.

Me ranting about the R&C reboot in 3 2 1 Go! The Ratchet and Clank reboot was horrendous with the butchered story that have nothing redeeming at all about it, in the actual 2002 R&C I belived that Ratchet and Clank were truely friends near the end after all the fighting between the two had finally stopped and they comes to term with each other. In the reboot however they become rangers like as soon they arrive at a new planet with a bunch of forgettable rangers that I can't even recall the names of and Ratchet and Clank never really talks to each other that much. Made Drek a goofball instead of a serious and sinister businessman, made Ratchet a boy-scout instead of a thrill seeking and trigger happy lombax that weren't afraid to put someone at gun point or take revenge (he got of course more noble further down the series but never a darn boy-scout). Nefarious is a good villian and all, but why was he depicted with green skin when clearly in up your arsenal he is seen in the vid-comics that he hade a white skin tone before (spoilers) Qwark accidently push him over a railing into cogs below and why even in this reboot when it were Drek that Ratchet and Clank tried to stop in the first place so they just throwed the iconic for the first game villan away for shit and giggles. But anyway, Ted Price or if anyone at Insomniac reads this, please don't make a sequal to that reboot mess, please continue with the future series or just port the original trilogy to PS4 if you want newer generations to fall in love with the Ratchet and Clank franchise. Fall in love just as I did as a kid and till even today being were hyped for anything R&C related (the offical art book was great by the way), I love you all at Insomniac games and expect great things as always

That's like Marvel who owns comic rights to Fantastic 4 deciding to remove the Fantastic 4 from the comics to not boost popularity for Fox who owns the film rights. Sony owns the movie rights, Sony is funding the game, and a Spider-Man game will boost Spider-Mans popularity for Sony's Spider-Man projects. The "Insomniac Choice" is way too coincidental for Sony. Marvel may be working with Sony for Spider-Man, but that hasn't changed Sony's hold on the character & characters they own the film license to too much. I don't see Square Enix working on a Spider-Man game. They're working on an Avengers game. That's more of Marvel relationship. Not a Sony relationship. Sony isn't working on a Howard the Duck movie. They're working on a Venom movie and a animated Spider-Man movie. Insomniac could have gone grand scale and made an Avengers or larger scale Marvel game. Multiplatform if it was a deal with Marvel. They went to Spider-Man which is easily a Sony wink nudge nudge point point to Sony movie license rights.
