Early KZbin had next to no gaming content and this was about when Andy Milonakis and other "low-budget" comedy was hitting its stride and peak. It's crazy by today's standards but back then it made a lot of sense because I remember back as far as 2008 when it was rare to find KZbin clips of some more obscure games. I mean, look at how many KZbin clips are uploaded with just 5 minute gameplay demos of games had an upload date of 2006-2009. I'd say AVGN really made KZbin a viable platform for gaming videos and Gamelife was the original progenitor of the most basic low-budget game reviews. A real relic of history is this video, it's hard to believe but it's definitely the case.

Yah, Larry brought me here. I am part of KZbin since march 2007, among the first major gaming channels I followed were AVGN's, UrinatingTree's (the Fatmann judgeth, still mourned by a good part of his old fanbase) and PlayItBogart. I had no idea Gamelife existed haha.

They didn't have any potential. Their content was poorly-produced garbage, they couldn't film, they couldn't talk without stuttering or sounding like they were about to fall asleep. MTV just wanted to cash in on the "viral game review" hype back then, picked the first people they saw, and ran with it. KZbin did the same thing with Irate Gamer.

AVGN was honestly the exception to the rule because James Rolfe actually went to film school. 2006 was a totally different time for internet content. Next to nobody had the nice cameras and fancy lighting setup. Back in these days all you needed to make youtube videos was a camera and an internet connection.

I watched a lot of those early youtube shows, like Is It A Good Idea to Microwave This, that were just three guys and a camera, and it was so much better put together than this is. This is nothing. This is just a video of somebody's personal life that for some reason just became incredibly popular.

Back then there were very few Gaming channel, so when you got this channel as a suggestion it led to people watching this video and giving it a Sub. One Sub after another made this Channel grow, however when people discovered other better channels most people probably decided to jump over to that channel (AVGN) or similar channels.
