Gamemaker 2 - Transfer sprites between projects

What didn't work but should have: copy/paste the sprite folder and rt-click "sprites"... import existing and choosing the .yy file
What worked: edit sprite. Image ... Export PNG. DON'T RENAME IT. In new project, make new empty sprite. Import png.

you can rename it. You have to have "strip" in the name. This is a built in function that tells gamemaker to put it in frames. Was still helpful. Thank you.

The problem (and solution) is that you didn't have "strip4" at the end of the sprite image's name. You have to have "strip", followed by the number of images you want as frames, in order for Game Maker to see it as multiple images instead of one. So you CAN rename it, but you have to have strip at the end

I think that if you rename it you have to import it with an option that reads "import from strip file" or something like that. At least that worked for me last time.

Incorrect step 1. You do NOT copy. You just go to your target project, then add from existing project. This will the create the files. No copying needed (doesn't work if you do).
