I loved my time with it. I wanna see it fully realized. The game was genuinely fun and genuinely a wonderful experience. The staff was really responsive and willing to talk. I hope to see good things plan on backing it heavily in February for their Kickstarter! I want to see how the game evolves with time. And hearing you speak so highly give me genuine hope.

I'm skeptical about the QR code elements, as requiring an internet-enabled smartphone is another confusing barrier to entry for younger players. And serious players will just snap up as many packs as possible to try and find the most broken randomly generated cards, making it even harder for new players to get any.

Thank you very much for your review and feedback, I can assure you we're currently discussing balancing issues with those starter decks ! 😂 You may find the "Reserve" mechanic in "My Little Pony" TCG, although we designed it independantly, and we discovered other similarities with that game that also tries to move away from the traditional combat mechanics.

Maaaan, when you said that there were similarities to the MLP CCG I was so hyped. Loved that game and kinda sad that it had to eventually die (though I believe some players still keep it alive to this day )

Updates! You get 15 rares + 3 uniques in a deck, not 10 rares. There are no single dual-faction cards, just some cards that appear in two factions. Also, apparently the pink deck has the lowest win rate amongst logged plays 😅 about 10%

I like the general gameplay loop, but there are a lot of things that make me bounce of the game. No-mixable factions? I found lorcana to restrictive already. Together with unique cards and dice rolls that is kind of deal breaking for me. Both of those are a lot better suited for videogame card games as opposed to real ones. I also don't want to know what unique busted cards will do to the secondary market if this game is ever played seriously.

Last contract was honestly amazing for me, if only prices on almost everything hadn't also gone up. But it kept me afloat whereas I would have drowned financially elsewhere. Hopefully this one gets rid of table 2 and puts me at top step. And it would be nice if they get rid of CCAs, but with how much the USPS loves to exploit CCAs, that's one of the last things I personally expect. They deserve to all be career, but we'll see.

It feels a little clunky, I'm not a fan of sharing cards or tokens unless it's a self-contained card game or board game. But I wonder, could this system be used to remake the Marvel Snap card game?

You mean the center cards? They're the same every time. Generic pieces where the center three get shuffled. Anyone can volunteer theirs.

Altered looks awesome. The art style is very high quality but feels pretty generic and uninspiring, but the mechanics seem solid and interesting. Super refreshing to see someone finally break away from the “reduce enemy to zero” format after 30 years of MTG clones.

Nah people are constantly trying that and it always goes nowhere because you lose so much inherent interactivity when you remove the idea of combat, interactivity that they never manage to add back in in other places.

What are the QR codes on each card for?

you scan when you open your booster to confirm your ownership of the card... the app will allow for deckbuilding, tournament registration and will serve as a marketplace.... you can buy/trade cards from all over the world directly in the app and the seller can still keep the physical card (but they no longer own the card for tournament purposes) and the buyer can use the print on demand service to print 1 or multiple copies, in the language of their choice, and have the cards shipped to them... you will also be able to give or lend cards...

I believe it's because the Unique rarity used to be called Altered... also in the lore because how the world was altered by the Tumult, a cataclysmic event merging reality and the imaginary world

I fell in love with this... only until the "random effects" part, wich totally threw me off. Again another TCG ruined because "NFT like collectability" was put over gameplay quality and balance.

Looks more like every card has a reserve effect than every card is a Pendulum, and Yugioh's at the point where most cards do things in the GY. If anything this seems slow and bland compared to Yugioh's take on the "reserve".

I think I'll give that one a skip. Thematically, there's nothing here I haven't seen before half a dozen times, and I don't get on with games with this much deckbuilding restriction. Kind of seems like decks are more or less built for you except for where you choose to put the handful of upgraded cards. And randomised unique cards is straight up gross. I'm also really not a fan of these sorts of "novel wincons". The nice thing about combat as a wincon is that it's inherently interactive, there's a built in system by which every creature card in the game can interact with every other creature card. Alternate wincons are always less interactive, and a game where the base wincon isn't combat and where every deck may have its own wincons on top of that sounds like it'll mostly end up parallel solitaire.

I disagree regarding the wincon. It boils down more to two simultaneous battlefields with a goal of dealing 7 "damage"(7 combined moves gets the pawns together), but the terrain feature means that what damage you want to deal changes as the game goes on.

Netrunner has a completely different wincon that is inherently super active, even more active than "combat" games. There is a lot of design space left unexplored but it rarely happens because people refuse to play stuff that is different. I do agree about the unique cards though that sounds terrible to me, I would play keyforge if I cared about that.

not sure if you are being ironic... you can learn about the cards before playing... as for unique cards, you can only put 3 in a deck, so that is not too much reading...
