Too bad I SUCK at the combat... I just can't make the character do what I want using a controller. I died like 5 times on the 2nd combat engagement (the one where you are given a choice to lead.) Finally the game just let me skip it, which I did... I couldn't move from one hiding spot to another without getting shot once and dying, even if it was only 10 feet away. Total let down and bummer for me.

Literally the first couple hours into this beast of game I ended up getting my horse stuck on a ledge of a cliff, and couldn’t figure out how the hell to get the bastard down. every time I mounted the horse it would just freak out and jump on its two feet . I got frustrated and made my way down the cliff only to make the death defying whistle that led old Betsy to her death . I Literally watched in horror as my horse tumbled and fell to its death finally hitting rock bottom . I ran up to my horses whimpers realizing I had nothing to save it with the poor thing was just screaming in pain so I made the descion to take her out of her misery shooting the only kind face I grew accustomed to brushing. Gathered my belongings and took a shot of whisky for the blood bath I just witnessed, walked off into the sunset . Only in RDR2 😢😂

One tip I have is that while you're in base camp there are sometimes black dots on your mini-map that are chores you can do. Doing these increases people's likeness of you. Examples such as filling up a bucket with water, moving bags, giving hay to the horses, etc.

I really like the random encounters in this game. I met this guy screaming that he was bitten. I approached him and gave him some medicine and saved him. Later when I was in Valentine he called me "Hey stranger is that you?" He said in order to show his gratitude for saving his life I can pick up one gun from the gunsmith on his account. I went in the gunsmith and picked up the Springfield Rifle, came out and said "thank you" to him The weather is sunny, everything is in harmony, there are still good people in this world. Then I loaded the Springfield rifle and shot him in the face.

After I adjusted these, the FPS mode has become my favorite way to play Red Dead 2. Let me explain... the way the settings are now are clunky and jarring. You need to set the control scheme to FPS and go into the camera and turn the Auto Leveling off. This allows you to control the character the same way you would in a Battlefield game. There is no more clunkiness and it brings up the enemies close to where you can see the gruesome effects of your shots. It also allows you to see what you're aiming at because the 3rd Person mode has the camera so far back that it's hard to see your target. Plus, while you're aiming in FPS mode, mash down on your D Pad and you will aim DIRECTLY DOWN YOUR SIGHTS. This is BY FAR the most fun way to play and shoot in Red Dead. YOU HAVE TO EXPERIENCE IT to see what I'm talking about. You can purchase different and unique gun sights at the Gunsmith and aiming down your sights is the only way to enjoy your new sight. Plus, it's realistic and much more fun! (I have it set up where it switches to 3rd person mode when I get on my horse because this is the where that mode fits and works best. When I get off my horse, it automatically switches back to First Person)

I have put in over 30 hours and I have not ran into anything that repeats itself. All the npc interactions are fresh everytime. When I go back to camp there is always different conversations and things going on.....I have never seen this in a game before....brilliant.

I’ve been really going at a slower pace. I love playing all the mini games like poker, dominos and setting up camp fires while hunting. I’ve never played a game where slow felt so right. I make sure to complete main story while exploring as to progress. But you can tell that in order to enjoy this game you have to respect and love every little detail Rockstar poured into it. It’s definitely not a pick up and play game.

So while I was trotting on my horse in Red Dead, a guy jumps out of the bushes wearing a prison outfit asking me to shoot the shackles on his feet so he can get away. The game just says help the prisoner. I asked him why he was locked up and he was being rude. So I was like alright, bet. I lassoed him up and the game said nothing about what to do with him. So I took him to the sherrifs office and they turned it into a quest. Even though there was no indication what I was able to do with that small random encounter, I'm glad they were able to account for all the things I could do. Definitely my game of the year. Long story short, you can make anything happen even if the game does not tell you it is possible. I got 25$ and some good honor when I brought back the prisoner.

Once you're in Valentine town, get a train ticket to St. Dennis. There you'll find a "Fence" to sell your Jewelries. Make sure you buy the LockBreaker from him to open Safes and chest. Also a "Trapper" is there for turning in Legendary animals. There is also one by the Legendary Bear area. I think near the cabin by the lake. Also don't Donate money to Camp Fund. Just Donate items and jewelry. They automatically Fence it for you and gives you cash for it. Anybody buy the DLC your Free Guns is at the Valentine Town gun Store. It's in the catalog. Go through it and click on it. Free. Also you can get the 2nd best handgun at the Doctor's office. Go to the back and peep in the window. Make sure to save the game. Call your horse. Go back to the front door. Put mask on before going in. Stick him up and tell him go to the back door. There will be 4 people there waiting. Use Dead eye headshot or use a pump action shotgun to kill everybody. The gun is on the table. Optional to take money. Run back through front door and don't kill anybody else. And just run away until the "Wanted" is gone. Go back to the train station. Pay bounty off and you're Clean. My bounty was only $1.50.

I love how the game greatly discourages you from looting for the first 2 chapters. You'll have Dutch or whoever else IMMEDIATELY start to yell at you if you actually stop anything to try and loot the 30 O' Driscolls you just massacred. "ARTHUR! WHAT ARE YOU DOING! HURRY UP!!!!" And then all the other gang members looting the corpses YOU KILLED before you can get to them.

Helping NPC’s is actually really rewarding. I helped some guy buy giving him an antidote after he was bit by a snake and he gave a me a couple dollars or something for helping. THEN a few real days later I was playing and ran into that same guy outside the valentine gun store and he thanked me again by allowing me to purchase any gun FOR FREE. Like I thought I’d never see this NPC again let alone that I’d get rewarded again ages after I saved him. That’s so cool.

One thing I learned: those symbols in the top corner at the camp doesnt show how well off the camp is, but how much of each you have at the time. If you fully upgrade each area and restock it they can still be red, but if you restock your personal stash they turn white again.

I use a mod menu now after playing through legit one time, and I love the fact that the I have the option to disable core drain. Sure it gives you a reason to eat and go back to camp, but at the same time, blasting through story missions and exploring the entire map in less than 30 minutes was really fun lol

Here's a couple of funny moments so far. I played from launch 12am EST Friday until about 2am EST this morning. While hunting the legendary bison up in the snowy mountains by the the lake. You'll find a almost pure white Arabian horse. I finally got it almost calm enough to break. When a random deer killed me with his antlers. I killed the legendary bison but he sank in the lake before I could skin him. While racing up a trail on my horse at full speed. I hit a guy on a horse also going at full speed. He and I both died and so did our horses. I wanted a second volcanic pistol for duel welding. I saved a guy with a snake bite. He put the gun on his tab for me. All the time I spent and I'm only 18% through it. What a great game

Btw, If you want realsim, turn your radar off, turn your reticle off (there are options to have a circle with a dot, just a dot, a big dot aka default, or no dot), and put your feild of view (fov) (1st person) all the way full or to the right so that way its not zoomed in and you can see more.. MAJOR ISSUE. For many who bought the Special or Ultimate edition of the game!!! I’ve seen multiple people ask this question to no one really having an answer for it. So I have an Xbox one, I purchased the ultimate addition of the game (disc steel book one) I have done the hunting mission with Hosa Matthews already. My war horse preorder unlocked but none of my Ultimate Edition bonus content has been unlocked at all. The outfit, the horse, the free guns, none of it works! I’ve seen multiple people have this issue also. Has ANYONE had any idea how or way to fix this!?! It’s the literally The reason so many people paid for these ultimate in special additions and the content we paid for isn’t even working!!!! Note : I have tired uninstalling and reinstalling the ad on pack on my Xbox twice already

Have you checked your camp? Outfit should be in camp, you have to change it by dresser, and for guns you have to go to gun store(they are free) to get them. You have to do the mission/actually look for the items(like you did the horse), you just dont get them in the menu right off the bat, they make you work a little for them.

That Car Guy dude I’m in Chapter three I know how the game works. I’ve gone to every stable I can find my horse ain’t there, every gunsmith I can find (you’d think it would all be available in the Valentine shops in Chapter 2 but I thought maybe it was even later) No outfit or talisman in Arthur’s Chest. It’s just literally that all my bonus content for buying the $100 ultimate edition doesn’t work. And yes before you ask I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the content on my Xbox many times trying to see if that will trigger it to work properly to no avail.
