I'm confused. I thought the Frozen Wilds DLC was called the Banuk weapons, not Adept weapons

Yes you are right. The Adept versions are NG+ weapons, and Banuk versions are Frozen Wilds weapons. I made a mistake in the video.

My only complaint about HZD so far is the vast number of things that the game does not teach the player. I'm about 15 hours in and feel a bit lost, and almost as if I am playing it wrong, if that makes sense. Thanks so much for this video, it helped tons.
@GamerGrade3 жыл бұрын
Yes there's a lot of systems in the game that can overwhelm if you try and figure it all out in one go. 15 hours is still early game so most of us felt the same at that stage. Just learn the weaknesses of one machine at a time, and practice during combat. You dont need to know everything to be effective. Refer back to this video (and others) as you go, only digesting the parts you need, it will all fall in place over time :) Good luck and thanks for watching 🍻
@fmaylinch2 жыл бұрын
I was also confused in the beginning. But then I thought that it is also pleasant to discover things little by little, as you progress in the game and increase your gaming skills. And I think that the game explains enough to have fun. At some point, after a couple of hours of play, I got more interested and curious, so I started watching videos like this. But not all of them, I don't want to "get spoiled" so much. :)
@c2thaj2tha714 ай бұрын
I'm noticing that too and I haven't even downloaded the game yet 😅 I'm starting to think it's a common thing with single-player, survival games with good plots, because Subnautica is the same way

That information about one elemental effect only being in use and that hitting a machine under the effects of that element again with the same element weapon being useless until the timer runs down if important. I see too many players wasting their fire arrows, for example, against an already-burning machine. Being able to build up a different element while the first one is running down is useful, but only when you can time your attacks to hit the top and replace the previous one immediately when the first one runs down and turns off. Usually, however, against a given machine one such effect is the best over the longest period.
@GamerGrade6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for clarifying on this advanced tip Nathan, definitely something many players dont fully understand or take advantage of. Its a shame the game doesnt go to more lengths to teach these combat mechanics.

Nathan Okun I halfway get what your saying and the other half of me is still lost bro so pretty much if the target had an elemental status like a burn it’s a waste to keep shooting fire arrows at it????
@Batman1989MK6 жыл бұрын
I didnt know about that!! Im playing the game right now :-)
@NathanOkun6 жыл бұрын
Yes, unless the fire arrow have some other damage effect OR you are firing at one of the canisters that you can cause to explode by hitting them with their own element (such as the blaze canisters on the backs of some machines being susceptible to fire hits). That canister damage is completely independent of the timed burn, but they can also create a timed burn by setting the machine on fire from its own internal source. Thus, you have to sort out when more firing should be done or when not to keep wasting arrows and switch to some other kind of attack -- blast bombs against a timed burning are independent of one another, for example. As mentioned, you can start building up a different form of elemental damage (freeze or electric stun or corruption while the target is burning), but these will do little until you finally set them to timed status, at which point the original timed damage stops. This means that you have all sorts of options as to how to continue a battle at any point -- this makes HZD MUCH more fun in that you are not stuck doing the same thing again and again against the same targets.

primary thing to dock early on is that "Adept" Weapons are NOT the DLC exclusive "Banuk" weapons. Adept Equipment are Very Rare weapons and outfits exclusive to New Game Plus, and actually add one more Modification Slot than the original. the only equipment that do not get Adept variants are the Tearblaster weapon and the Shieldweaver outfit.

i think the game on hard difficulty and lower is very forgiving in allowing players to tackle machines in many ways. so i think them not teaching you certain things was just them trying to give the player the freedom to learn some things on their own. its a balance of handholding and discovery of mechanics. they give u the blueprint with the notebook tab and the main info you should be looking at for each machine. i do think that the way weapons and such were introduced to players could have been handled a bit better. because i realize a large portion have completed the game with no knowledge of vital weapons such as tripcasters and slings and many seem to think its the type of game where its one size fits all, when really players should be cycling out multiple weapons depending on the scenario. the other big thing many players dont seem to get is how status works. and im assuming it has to do with the icon and white circle filling out not conveying the right message. most will probably think use element that monster is weak to until it dies instead of the correct way which is use elemental weakness until its status is reached...then capitalize on status with specific action...ie.: if its shocked, its immobilized so you can make your best judgement on what to do. if its a small enemy, you can do r1 critical, if its a large enemy, take that chance to get in some heavy damage with sticky bombs etc.

Hello, awesome vid! One question I have is how many enemies can you kill and how many parts can you dislodge before pick ups start despawning? Things get pretty hectic in this game and there can be stuff to collect all over the place! I am wondering how much can be on the ground in a given area before stuff starts to despawn due to memory limitations, and in how wide of an area will things still stay on the ground before despawning if you travel too far from them? I would HATE to fight a huge battle against bunches of huge beasts, waiting until they are all dead to scavenge just to find out that a bunch of the stuff ended up despawning...

Im new to this game and I have a question. Can I harvest the same amount of resources from an enemy if I just kill it without minding the components? Or do I need to be careful with the components in order to harvest more resources? Thanks.
@GamerGrade6 жыл бұрын
Yes you have to be careful not to destroy components that can give you additional resources when they drop, like the canisters, if you destroy them you lose the resources inside. You can also use tearblast arrows to rip these components off without damaging them for safe harvesting. The components that dont give resources are fine to hit for maximizing damage.
@jeraldvincentzumel53006 жыл бұрын
@@GamerGrade ok. Nexf question is, how do I know if a component has some resources or none? Im familiar with the blaze cannister but how about the others?
@GamerGrade6 жыл бұрын
What you want to do is refer to the in-game Notebook. For each machine you have already encountered there will be a 'Components' section. It will list all the components present on that particular machine and inform you which ones will drop specific resources, which ones will disable abilities, weak point components, etc. Try to memorize these for each machine and you're golden :)

Horizon zero Dawn the complete edition. It seems pretty early in the game for it to be giving me DLC content already but I don't know.i just started running into the daemon machines and that first ice vulnerable, fire breathing saw tooth was too tough. I've been hunting for the really capable blue beam stuff and can now afford shadow weapons I believe. At this point, what's the most effective way or weapon to take down daemon possessed large machines? Very long comment. Thank you for so much for anybody who answers with their opinion or best strategies.

If not then you will not have started the DLC yet. Regarding the corrupted machines, i would always use fire based attacks on them, as their major weakness is fire, then just use your usual attack strategies on top. Hope that helps! 🍻

Wtf! I feel like I'm studying for a college exam. I just want to have fun! Games can be so complicated today. Wouldn't dream of playing them on hard. Bought nioh and bloodborne and just gave up on those. They were crazy hard on easiest level for me. Great guide though! Thumbs up
@GamerGrade6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for leaving your comment Chris, much appreciated! Yes i agree it can be overwhelming but the more you play the easier it becomes. I would highly recommend using the in-game Notebook often, every time you come across a machine open the Notebook and check out the Components for that machine. It will tell you in detail which Components will drop resources, which ones explode causing massive damage etc After some time you will remember how to tackle each machine. Once you get used to doing that, the guide will be much more digestible, good luck! :)

Hm, Super Mario Bros might be more up your alley then. These games are for those that really want to put the time into them. They take a lot of time & practice. But the thing that's so rewarding is once it all starts to click, the game becomes TONS of fun! It just constantly triggers those reward centers of the brain. It's not for everyone tho.

@@skins4thewin A little late to the party. Do you know what venting is. Don't you ever complain about things. BTW I went back to bloodborne and beat it which does make this game look like Mario bros. CAn't wait to try forbidden woods
@chrisc68744 жыл бұрын
@@MegaGyalis Just beat it a few weeks ago. Took forever and involved a lot of profanity. You just need to stay at it and take breaks when it gets too tough I guess. Thats was the hardest game Ive ever played! And the worst boss was the camera! It can kill you. It was one of the worst cameras in a game, only cause the action is so quick . But it was one of the best games if that makes sense. Even with the camera being so bad, I stuck with it. Im actually on new game plus which is much harder! But, I'm taking a break from it now.

Hi there its me again hehe Do tear blast arrows act like a lottery of which component will be removed meaning i can hit the machine anywhere and a random component will fall of Or do i need to hit the area where i want the component to fall off, tried experimenting and both happened which made me more confused Like the shell walker for example. If i want to remove the box on top of it, do i need to hit the box or if i hit the head or hands, the box can fall off?
@GamerGrade4 жыл бұрын
The Tear arrows have a Tear damage rating which can be increased. The Tear damage dealt increases the closer to the component you get. A direct hit will deal maximum Tear damage, while a distant hit may deal some Tear damage. Every component has a set Tear damage rating, before it becomes dislodged. Smaller components will have a lower Tear damage rating, making it easy to dislodge, even without direct hits. However some components will have a much higher rating, therefore will require direct hits or multiple near hits to dislodge. Hope that helps man! 👍

No problem bro! To confirm the white lines are the base stats of the item, and the green lines are the upgraded bonus effects of the installed mods. Hope that helps and good luck bro :) 👍

The notes say that a secondary Coil effect can only go up to 20% & a 3rd can only go up to 12%, but I can see right on thr screen that you are showing a coil with 51%, then 35% for the secondary effect, & 35% for the 3rd. So what gives?

A good tip is to make sure to check the in-game Notebook often for detailed information on all the components and what they do for each machine. Try to memorize the important components for each machine one at a time using the Notebook, once you get into the habit of doing this the rest will fall into place. Good luck!

Sorry its actually NG+ that the 4-slot Adept weapons unlock and not DLC!
@sin-23-046 жыл бұрын
It's kinda hard to take some of the things he says seriously when the first thing he talks about is wrong you don't get adept weapons from a DLC you get them in new game plus the banuk weapons are DLC and are the best and I don't know if you aware of the fact that there is a limit of how much damage you can do so put 4 damage coils on one weapon is only going to give you a certain amount of damage at least for me 3 damage coils are enough to max damage
@GamerGrade6 жыл бұрын
+Sindri Steinn Yes you are correct, i only realised Adept is NG+ and not exclusive to DLC shortly after uploading the video, thanks for clarifying. The rest of the video is sound though :)

Lmao! Same here man. But its okay.. lets just dive in and then see what happens.. Bottom line, study the enemy with focus, locate weak points, hit weak points.. kill. Tear parts off of enemies using TEAR arrows, then kill em. Use traps 1ST even before you launch your first arrow. Like a true hunter. Set up.traps, bait the enemy, let the traps activate, raid the enemy. Override other enemies to fight on your side temp.
