I met one in the first cauldron. Arena style. I was SO SCARED. This thing is MASSIVE. It does not help that there is nowhere to run. After dying three times, I came up with a plan: surround it with trip wires on all 6 sides while it is still being built. This did slow him down enough for me to be able to hit the container on the back. But even after that I had a hard time. I spent all ammo. I did not have any freezing ammunition. I did not have hunter reflexes. Eventually its health went to almost zero. I had no ammo. So I ran into him (yelling Leeroy Jenkins inside) and hit it with the spear. And it was finished. Man, was that exhausting.

​@@IlyaVassilevskyim SO lucky that i saw them in devils thirst before i encountered them in the coundron, looked at their log entry saw the frost weakness and thought "yeah maybe its better to get the sling" shortly before entering the couldron 😅😅😅

I’ll never forget having to farm Bellowbacks early in Ultra Hard New Game to get the Silent Hunter armor which makes traversing the world so much easier. It was a huge pain. I wish I had this video at the time!

Ive been avoiding doing this farm in my recent HZD playthrough. I need the heart to get the armor, and definitely want the armor..but taking out bellowbacks rarely seem to go smooth for me

@ The remastered version now gives you the Nora Lookout armor for free which is a great stealth armor to start the game with. I played with it until the mid game.

I never struggled too much on these due to the nice huge weak points compared to others, but still learned from this video that you can _stack multiple potion effects!_ Now that's useful!

I accidentally stumbled upon a similar strategy when I came across a corrupted bellowback with a bunch of corrupted chargers. I normally use stealth to take out anything I can, but that corrupted zone didn't have anywhere to hide in it. I needed to use my sling (I only have a basic one and blast sling so far as I haven't made it to Daytower yet). That was a hectic fight that I died nearly a dozen times for, but sling and precision arrows worked in the end. I'm just playing on normal, though.

Again, thanks for these videos. My first bellowback fight was Cauldron Sigma. My first run and gun attempt was annoying so I restarted the battle. Aim fast, shoot fast...yuck. Notebook said body is weak to freeze. Also, for some potentially cheap damage I set traps around the arena. I had not used traps so what the hell. While looking around for trap placement I noticed an area which will give you immunity to ranged and melee attacks. Anyway the traps ended up taking out all the watchers without me taking a shot, I just got chased, and then I discovered that a frozen enemy takes chonking damage amounts. Especially on a weak points like the cargo sack. I used precision arrows. I did not now why I got chonking damage, but later with a little experimentation I proved to myself it was the freeze effect.

these videos are making me realize im not using the War Bow enough. i used it early game and kind of put it to the side after feeling it was underwhelming..but im gonna give it another shot

I ran into one of them in the Cauldron and managed to bring it down with just the carja hunter bow. Took a long ass time as i didnt have shock or freeze arrows yet. Though i could have used a sling i just didn't think too

I played the entire game ( and got the platinum trophy) and I only fought bellowbacks 4 times ( in the frozen wilds, corrupted zone, cauldron and hunting ground).

Even in the Nora lands they're relatively easy if you remain in stealth Granted it takes a while for them to stop searching for you, but that's a good way to farm mid game resources early game

cauldron something got level 8 in the door. but there a level 20 bellowback inside. I mean my arrows only go to 15 damage. so i just hide while keep sniping it.

when i can i target the eyes. especially when it just got frozen and doesnt move much. still, its not easy to hit them.

Does the bow do more damage if you hold it or is it the same damage even if you rapid fire as long as you hit?

The damage is the same whether you fully draw it or partially draw it. The only advantage you have by fully drawing is better accuracy, but when hitting big targets where your main intention is just dealing damage, you can just partially draw your arrows to get the same damage in quicker time.

Late comment If you get the frozen wilds dlc, fully drawing the Banuk bows deal double damage

Another trick to kill Freeze bellow back is fire arrow. I Shot fire arrow let it burned for while than repeated. only need 3 times of burn-5 times
