Turbo civic catches fire on track at Silverstone

During the 3.20 session (Q) at trax Silverstone the civic bottom end failed resulting in the car catching fire. Heres the full footage of the session and the end result

Man just after watching officially gassed coming to this breaks my heart.. it was such a unique car. How did it catch fire and what was the reason it all went wrong like this? Im sure the car was track ready but it still seemed like it overheated or something

Rod left the block it was a stock block pushing double the power it was ment to take and was on track so getting driven pretty hard.

Sorry for the loss but was the sump baffled? I've seen quite a few na converted turbo cars die from lack of oil at high speed corners.

I'm just annoyed that the staff didn't react sooner. I'm sure the smoke was looming for quite a while before it became ablaze. Sorry to see such a beast catch fire, but at the end of the day, you're alive to bring that turbo beast back from the grave. Good luck!

I did ask why it took them so long and basically their policy is, as long as there was no danger to me they had to wait for every other car to leave the circuit before they would send people out to deal with the fire.

Seriously some one give this man a track day lesson! Also your cars on fire why are you in the car wiggling the gear knob to see if the cars in neautral, just jump out and tackle the fire you mug!!! Open the bonnet and put that fire out ffs!!!

I think he did try to put it out and opening the bonnet is an incredibly dangerous idea as it gives the fire more oxygen causing even more damage.Also it must have been quite scary and in this situation and I thought he handled it quite well.
