Watching the arc I did quickly realize it was also about Suguha and her relationship with kirito. As for Man calling Asuna a damsel in distress is due to her being trapped and her avatar not having much to help fight tho she did prove she had her fighting spirit and refused to give in and dud try her best to escape and she did help Kirito save her. Great coverage with the ALO arc! The VA that did Suguha/Leafa was Ayana Taketatsu who also did Nino Nakano in the Quinessential Quintuplets, Azusa in K-ON!, and Kirino in my Little Sister Can't be this cute! So she did play a lot of anime roles in the past and currently a few now... (Just listen to the voice acting and you may see a few similarities... Lol), definitely my favourite. Lesson one in ALO: there are some Shakespeare references in the arc Lesson two in ALO: there are villains that tend to have their horrible thoughts in experiments Lesson three in ALO: one character has the same name as me! Which is Eugene! My name! Lesson four in ALO: welcome to the M rating club, SAO (for Australia's rating) Finally the main lesson in this: Always always always hate Sugou Nobuyuki a million times plus one. Using people's minds in experiments is a cancer to this world for villainy. A evil and perverted villain that everyone despises!

Nah, believe it or not, KZbin is not at all strict with the occasional f-bomb here and there, that's why the demonetization bits are just jokes. Thank you for the kind words! Though if you enjoyed the perspective, I strongly recommend my Fairy Dance summary video I did prior to Alicization (Season 3). This video was more of a precise answer, whereas in that one, I simply go over the events in a chronological manner that makes all the links much clearer in a collective way. Fairy Dance is by no means the favorite of many people and rightfully so, it is my least favorite main arc of the series personally. But as I mentioned in this video too, I do believe most of the mainstream hate towards it simply stems from a lack of understanding of what the story was about and the portrayal of the anime does not help it either. Here's the video if you ever feel like checking out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f37NaH2vq8ucgK8

@@Gamerturk You're welcome. I already saw the Fairy Dance summary and it wasn't bad. Also for the mainstream hate thing, I can see that. The incest was overblown, Leafa just a crush on her brother and once she found out that Kirito was her brother, she drop her crush immediately. There are valid issues with Fairy Dance like how was Kirito able to find Asuna's hospital and get her dad to trust him to see Asuna again. I have heard that it's explain in Extra Edition, but I don't count that because it wasn't in the main series. Also it's a recap movie, most people I know aren't going to see that and would probably just rewatch the show/ read the wiki to get refreshed on what happened. I do recommend you watch 4 videos from Virtual Axiom. If you don't know, he made a debunk on DX's first SAO video, a video debunking the Kirito hacking claim, a video on how much fanservice does SAO really have (It's covers Aincard to Ordinal Scale and includes Extra edition), and a video responding to a comment he got on his DX video. People tend to miss out the fact that Asuna wasn’t a “damsel in distress.” She resisted Sugo throughout the whole time and couldn’t really do much because Sugo did threaten that he could “fix” her memories if she did anything rash. Not to mention, Asuna was the one who dropped the keycard to Kirito, allowing him to get to her. If it wasn’t for her, Kirito wouldn’t even be able to save her. She even attempted an escape and nearly succeeded until she was caught. If anyone was in her shoes, they would be more timid and secured, seeing how you could get your memory wiped by the dude keeping you hostage.
@darkstorm25793 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the haters love to ignore that.
@alpguy4865 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's exactly what damsel in distress is. The sheer fact that she is able to resist, almost able to break free, or helped in her own rescue doesn't change the fact that she is a damsel in distress. Here's the definition from wiki, and I quote "The damsel in distress is a recurring narrative device in which one or more men must rescue a woman who has either been kidnapped or placed in general peril. Kinship, love, or lust (or a combination of those) gives the male protagonist the motivation or compulsion to initiate the narrative.[1] The female character herself may be competent, but still finds herself in this type of situation".

When you see the opening of this arc, you think Asuna will escape from Yggdrasill tree and start looking for Kirito. Every time the action went to Asuna, it was too painful to watch, because it degenerated her character. Didn't we have enough with one time? Nope, we need more "Titania, my love, marry me while I am touching you without harassment code because I am the admin". It was worst when she could escape but, nope, " tentacle scene" because why not!? Oh, and the final touch was the "almost"rapey scene. We already know Sugou is an evil character. We don't need these scenes. If you want to prove she is not a damsel in distress, let her have the chance to fight. Finding a key was only the plot point to help Kirito. She was suffering a lot, too much she had to change her avatar to avoid trauma. So, nope, Asuna development in this arc was badly treated. About the rest, I don't have anything to say. It was perfect

Going to add on to the transferrable stats and Aincrad coming back as that has actually happened in real life. I forget the exact game atm since i saw it in a yt vid, but they essentially made a brand new game with new assets but never got rid of the old assets and there were glitches with some of the items from the previous game randomly spawning in and a secret button on the menu which was from the original game. I think it was supposed to be some kind of pirate game and the previous game was in ww2 so there were planes and warships spawning in with like rafts and pirate ships. Then obviously it has happened in other games but i remember that specifically because it was some kind of online game Edit: Figured out the game I was talking about. I'm actually surprised i held some of these misconception (Like in regards to stats and account transfer) It's still my least favourite arc of the anime (I have yet to read the novels in their entirety) and would probably merge elements of Calibur and It into one big story if i were to rewrite it now and with the benefict of hindsight*. That being said, nice video *[Like, i would make it so that the way to enter the top of the world tree is to get excalibur as a key and that the quest was both recent but also time limited, thus leading to even more reasons for kirito to hurry in his travel and for conflicts to arise over who gets to take the sword etc, Then after the arc is over like normal, i would take the element of Kirito's buddies doing quest together (Which i wouldn't put in this version of Fairy Dance) into Phantom Bullet to make them do something in the background of Kirito and Sinon's main story, maybe adding some of the gameverse characters like Zeliska and Kureha too playing with them too(Kirito's friends, Kirito and sinon are still doing their thing independently). That being said i'm not gonna continue on this because i'm the least capable writer and i'm pretty sure no one cares about stuff a random person like me would change]

Thanks KZbin for showing this two months after original post. Anyway, I enjoy your videos, truly I do but I have to disagree with you about Kirito being a basic player. You mentioned it yourself his levels and skills transferred over from SAO. Yes I understand not all of his skills were useable, still just going off his levels without adding attribute points he is far more powerful than the average player. You also mentioned memory muscle, which also effects skills, this is reference in the show as well when he’s talking with his sister in game, she mentions your skills are some what based off your actual abilities in life. This would give Kirito a clear advantage over most other players in the game due to the fact he spent close to two years fighting in SAO. He doesn’t even become close to average till after rescuing Asuna and then only resets his levels so he can enjoy leveling once more with his sister in a game that she loves. So till that point I would say he was OP and even after resetting his levels, giving how the game caters towards physical attributes or memory muscle, Kirito would still be far better than average even starting from fresh. Anyways keep pumping out the content, I truly enjoy your videos even if KZbin doesn’t always alert me when you drop them.

@@joeca5028 I think your confusion stems from the different types of love. Suguha loved Kazuto the way a little sister would love her older brother. Essentially, she loved Kazuto in a familial way. Now, upon finding out that Kirito, the man she loved romantically, was the same person as the man she loved in a familial way, Suguha has to sort out her conflicting feelings: knowing that they are one and the same, can she still love Kazuto the way she always had or will her feelings for Kirito carry over to reality to affect her relationship with Kazuto? I personally found this internal conflict to be the most intriguing part of Fairy Dance.

Great video. I just wish more people would watch your SAO videos and not people like MB, who simply bash the series to pull views. Btw, I think the Incarnate eyes are a cool visual detail, though its a shame that its exclusive to Kirito. In my Black Wolf fanfic, there are a few others who have Incarnate eyes, and those are Marth and Kuroba (Kuroyukihime). I know from the chat that you don't care about fanfics and this isn't an attempt to promote my works. I just felt that I should mention the eye color change. I'm even thinking of giving Kirito an Incarnate Mode (or something similar) so that he can match both his partners (again, Marth and Kuroba). As for why, Marth's a half-demon while Kuroba is a fairy (it was the best I could come up with that could parallel the demon race; I did not want to use angels). Kirito, on the other hand, is just a regular human. Now this does make Marth and Kuroba more powerful than Kirito, but as he is one of the main characters, I feel like it is right to give him a way to not be outclassed by them. Heck, my Kirito even uses dark magic! Anyway, keep up the good work! Stay safe out there, Gamerturk!

In reality, it’s actually kinda underrated and really does a good job exploring the complicated and distant relationship between Kazuto and Suguha. All people have to do is pay attention and think critically about what is being presented to them instead of putting preferences/bias first. Asuna being a damsel in distress can easily be disproven, not only did she get the code to escape the cage and get the keycard despite being tied up, along with trying to put down Sugo, but she is still going strong despite being stuck in SAO for 2 years. A resilient, brave, and great character. SAO haters will try anything these days to shut down SAO with shit that makes no sense.
