On Crimson Desert, it's basically BDO with some enhancements. Given what I've seen in the trailers, they already do most of this in BDO, so it's not far fetched to think the game will be what it's presenting as.

The pawn system in Dragon's Dogma is about the only game where I wouldn't mind the AI generated behavior, as pawns don't act or think as humans do and are there to serve you until you dismiss them

Dragons Dogma is prob one of the best RPGs ever made and i can't wait for the second game to release! The last boss in the bitterblack isle expansion is prob one of the most impactful bossfights i've ever played.

I feel like it's one of the best RPG concepts ever made. I think it would have been one of the best RPGs ever made if all of the intended content actually made it in, the game is only like 40% of what was intended. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the game, but I feel like it was far too small. So much content was cut due to their smaller budget, I mean by the time you finish the first run to Gran Soren, you've already seen like 50% of the map. However, it is wildly impressive how much content they managed to fit into that map. I think Dragons Dogma 2 will be one of the best RPGs ever made. Due to the success of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen their budget will be worlds above what they had in the first one. The gameplay they have shown already of Dragons Dogma 2 looks incredible. I always heard people compare it to monster hunter, but I feel like it has much more in common with another one of my favorite games of all time Shadow of the Colossus. Can't wait for Dragon's Dogma 2, I feel like this will basically be what they wanted the first game to be.

Fighting Daimon, especially with the background music, seriously felt like I was participating in an anime fight with the world at stake. It was so immersive. I ran through bbi so many times without ever getting bored, it's astonishing.

I would do some research on the foreign developer before getting my hopes up. They have a history of exaggerating their finished products. Of course if it turns out as good as the trailers make it seem I will play it, but that is unlikely from my point of view

Starfield could barely pull anything off with 10x the budget and team. The best we have scene in scope and interaction quality is bg3 and that is game industry defining. Bg3 was a total passion project and also cost more than 300 million with very little waste. Crimson Desert looks like its leagues ahead of anything that exists and that is hard to believe. So it’s safe to say that no, its not going to be real. It’s a hyper machine and I wouldn’t pre order it.

I'm very excited for Dragon's Dogma. Didn't care for the story but easily the best combat system I've ever played. Black Myth is giving off Biomutant vibes to me. Who was very heavy on the hype, beautiful world, dropped the ball at the control scheme and story itself. Hopefully won't be as is all things but we shall see.

If you know anything about Pearl Abyss & Black Desert Online - Crimson Desert will have beautiful combat and a very attractive looking world, the issue the mmo has is end-game content that doesn't really exist, if they can manage making a coherent story and making an end I think Crimson Desert will come out just fine.

Glad you liked it! I don't want to put them on screen because platforms often change. Some games that say they're coming to PS4 will cancel the PS4 version. Others which aren't coming to PC will come to PC later. Some games haven't announced the platforms at all. I can edit the description, since KZbin got rid of annotations I can't edit what's on screen.

Oh, the Gothic 1 remake...I played the test demo thing they released years ago, it didn't feel like Gothic at all, but I do believe they took the feedback from that to heart which is why things have taken so long. Wether that means they'll be able to recapture that elusive gothic-feel or not remains to be seen...and if not it seems the actual Gothic 1 is getting an update of its own, curtesy of the Switch-edition of all things!

Final Fantasy VII back in the day on the playstation 1 was on spread across 3 CD's in a thick case, no DVD discs at that time, so I really got that on brand feel when Square Enix split the games. Disc 1 and Intergrade roughly end at the same point. And I'm super excited for all the creative alternative universe stuff. When people say they want a remake, word for word feels a little souless in reality. I hope they remake more early Final Fantasy games too.

As a big fan of the first Dragon Age game I can tell you that none of the sequels have been anything like the original. The whole point of the first game was that it depicted a very muddy, realistic, medieval world - everything was mundane and believable, even the treatment of elves and dwarves. That's what made magic and monsters seem so enigmatic and incredible. After the success of the first game they just kept trying to make the setting more grand, more action packed, more exotic, and even though the graphics are wonderful it just doesn't feel like the same franchise at all. Their latest game looks more like Arcane than Dragon Age. Oh well, I'm looking forward to Gothic and Dragon's Dogma, two games which seem to still be trying to live up to their legacy in a legitimate way. Thanks for all the hard work you put into this excellent preview!

If you want a gritty and dark medievil game try Final Fantasy 16, its light on rpg elements but man… The story, the setpieces and the serious tone are all so well done.

It's fine that you didn't like the original. I never said the others weren't good games - I just pointed out that the sequels didn't feel much like the original. The whole mood and tone of the first game felt more gritty, realistic and grounded. It felt historical - magic and monsters were mythical and uncommon. In later games they had to raise the stakes so the exotic no longer felt that arcane and mysterious (Qunari as an example), armor and clothing seemed more unrealistic, and action felt more cinematic. I preferred the tone of the original (it had more of an early Witcher vibe), but you're welcome to feel differently. @@rubenlopezusa

Combat is definitely the sticking point for witcher, but I think it has been getting better with each game. Plus I think they learned a lot of lessons from the Cyberpunk problems.

I pray to the gods that the GOTHIC remake is a hit so they can do a full remake of GOTHIC II - still the best Piranha Bytes game ever made. I kind of view GOTHIC as part 1 of a complete story and GOTHIC 2 is the second half - not really a sequel - so I'm glad they started with GOTHIC 1. (GOTHIC III feels more like an epilogue.)

Just fyi, GBF: Relink is part of the Granblue Fantasy franchise; it's a popular gacha franchise that has been around for quite a while. There was also a fighting game a few years ago which I heard was pretty good. Also, for the people interested in Wuthering Waves, the studio has a game out called Punishing Grey Raven. I haven't played it, but apparently its combat and story are pretty good, which bodes well for WW, I guess? PGR is a gacha game though, so it's likely WW will also be one.

for the Fable 4 trailer calling it in game footage it may be saying it could be the same graphic quality or could be cutscenes from the game. In Game footage and Gameplay footage are two different things.

I don't like doing that because half the time it changes and then the video is just wrong. In these times, 9/10 games don't get a fixed release date until very close to the date and even when they get one half the time it's delayed from there.

Because they haven't given any updates for over a year. I don't talk about games that don't even bother to talk about themselves. Even the official Skyward Entertainment website hasn't even updated their copyright label from '2022'. No Steam page, no presskit, a few bullet points and a "stay tuned" message for over a year. They updated their facebook cover photo in March, and that's about it.

It's because that might not be gameplay. There hasn't been a public demo or playtest or anything, not even at Gamescom at a booth or something. That's an edited video and cinematic footage they revealed in 2019 shows they could animate things like that years ago. Think Cyberpunk, Watchdogs, No Man's Sky, The Division. All 'real gameplay' but on launch it's downgraded and repetitive. Skyrim showed off the dungeon puzzle like every dungeon would have puzzles to solve. Turns out there are 3 puzzles repeated across hundreds of dungeons. How much in that Crimson Desert trailer is dynamic and unique things happening in the world, and how much is copy-pasted through the world? Are there going to be 27 'catch the sheep' quests? Or just 1? As for Gothic, am I not also sceptical and cautionary about it? I literally say "there's always a big chance that this is a big fail" about Gothic.

And for Fable, same as Crimson Desert. Is it gameplay? On what system? You can make that 1 'gameplay' scene in Unreal in like a week. Or animate it in a few weeks. Do you see a UI? She throws a fireball, but no health bar, no mana, no ability icons, nothing to indicate it's actually someone playing a game.

@@GamerZakh gotta tell that the part of the graphics gonna be lit, just look at Black Desert, shit looks really awesome, been playing it a lot, so looks wise is gonna be like the trailers and gameplays, but the gameplay and mechanics is the things that keeps me a little cautious .

I don't believe when Dragon's Dogma 2 says their pawns use Ai that it has anything to do with them using an Large Language Model, Neural Network, or Generative AI to create the pawns' behaviour since that has never been said by them, but you seem to suggest that is the case by referencing recent Ai trends and saying it's the "first to officially [promise] Ai content" when that could not be further from the truth. Ai has been in games since forever. Goombas in Super Mario World, 1990. Trainers in Pokemon Red/Blue, 1996. Hell, even the ghosts in Pacman, 1980. Ai is basically just anything where a system needs to decide what happens next and isn't limited to characters. There's Ai in your Microwave. Ai is not just Chat GPT, Midjourney, or Stable Diffusion.

I'll be watching The Witcher 4, Dragon Age, Crimson Desert, Flintlock, Phantom Blade, and Rise of the Ronin. But I will never preorder. One game I won't buy for sure is Fable after the woke downgrade in graphics.

Grim dawn is a Diablo-like game that doesn't really just fall in a 'Action RPG' genre anymore and it's not what's usually called a 3rd person game but isometric or top-down. Also I don't usually list expansions as upcoming games.

why is ai in games contentious? It is definitely the next big thing. Imagine playing open world games like Skyrim where every npc is AI. Imagine a battle in bannerlord where every soldier fights with AI. It is going to be so amazing

There's a massive amount of discussion, so it depends how much you want to get into it, but basically it's this: 1. AI right now is not 'Artificial Intelligence'. It's just branding for algorithms. What 'AI' does right now is scan a lot of existing things and remixes them into something the average human reads it as 'original'. But when you use AI to generate stuff, it's basically just existing things mixed up. So there's a huge risk of AI accidentally plagiarising something copyrighted, opening up those who use AI to get sued. Art might look too much like something that exists. A face might look like an actor you didn't hire. Writing might have a paragraph that's too similar to a book. And the creators won't even know because they wouldn't know what the AI was trained on. 2. Then, the AI is being trained on existing media which for the most part the creators of those media didn't give permission to have their creations be used to train AI. There are legal questions about that too. Lawsuits are ongoing. 3. Plus, laws about AI are just being made now. What's legal today might not be legal tomorrow. US is looking into it, the EU are setting up regulations, and every country is analysing before deciding. The actor's strike just ended today, with new regulations for AI being agreed upon. Things that were allowed yesterday are no longer allowed today, quite literally.

I'm not really sure if the Dragon's Dogma 2 AI they are talking about is actually a proper AI. I personally think it's just better pawn behavior. The first game already did a very good job at that. I imagine they just want to elevate that.

None of what 'AI' is today is proper AI. ChatGPT, Midjourney, etc, those aren't proper AI but it's what's been branded as AI. From the sounds of things, it seems like they're going to use generative text like ChatGPT for NPC dialogue.

Remake of Gothic is looking great. If they won't ruin basic elements of the game and expand the story, which was too short in the original, should be quite epic. Flashy combat games are not to my taste.
