Sir I can't find the words to thank you enough! I'm a huge fan of Blizzard games and Darksiders games and I've always wanted my models to have that look! I've followed your tutorial and BOOM, everything was clear! I did my first hand painted model! I'm so happy that I could cry! So thank you, thank you, thank you so much Sir!

Any way you could do some tan bricks??? I know its the same basic steps but still would like to see it.
@NottsKnots6 жыл бұрын
non blender user here, and my experiance with this sort of thing comes from photoshop, so I could be wrong, but that 'glitch' near the end looks to me like it's where your texture wrap (map I think you call it) is showing a join and because the way you are painting by building the texture up, your brush isn't fixing the vairation because it just keep building on what is underneath. If this were a photoshop file, I would have used the offset tool on the texture to temp move the texture around relative to the model so I could line up the glitching section and blend it together with the clone stamp tool or similar, then move it back. Hope that makes sense.
@grabbitt6 жыл бұрын
Yes that did make sense. In this case it should not happen and its meant to be one of the advantages of painting in the 3d programme.

I guess it would partially defeat the purpose of this tutorial .. but for AO-like shading, wouldn't it be more accurate and quicker to model /sculpt surface features in hi-res, and bake the AO (or inverted normal AO) down, even just as a guide for a more toon-like approach?
@grabbitt6 жыл бұрын
Yes that's my normal approach. For this tories I wanted to show that you could do the same with just painting.

Is there a way to make this texture tilable, so it can be used on other models? Why are we painting on a cube and not on a plane? Very helpful as always, thanks!

Cube so you can practice depth and edges if necessary. To make tiltable is best to do it in photoshop or similar

Blender laggs when I start painting, so I can't paint smoothly, cause the stroke appears with delay, anything I can do to fix it?
@grabbitt6 жыл бұрын
reduce the texture size. Use a smaller brush (not so many pixels painted at once). reduce the poly's of your object. go into isolation mode with / on your numpad or.... get a faster computer :(

Cool tip for my fellow roblox devs you can make this and instead of baking normal maps or whatever u can draw ur texture and add a slate material in the roblox software and boom! Thats a good lazy way to make a brick wall.
@nikrogers1235 жыл бұрын
As the blender situation is totally chaotic right now and so many videos are out of date it would be good if you could do one on simple things like how to render an image , I know that sounds stupid but I cant find anything thats current and I cant do a simple thing like this because the update is very complicated and the developers are up against a wall with questions and they cant deal with it ,also they are unreachable and there is noone to ask a simple question . Im constantly looking for other software that will do it and cant find anything . If you think of any suggestions Id be gratefull. thanks for any help
