You have a good-sized Psvita physical collection. Psvita is one of my favorite underrated handhelds. Sony gave up on the Vita. Way too soon, but Indie games gave the Vita a longer life span. I love collecting for the Vita because of its unique library. I originally played Trails of Cold Steel 1 for the Vita and had a wonderful experience, and it got me into the Trails series!😁👍

The Tales series of Games is a fantastic series to jump into. The first one that I had played was Tales of Symphonia on my GameCube when I was kid back in the early 2000s. After jailbreaking my vita and finding out about Tales of Hearts R, I had to grab it to relive that real-time party combat game play and awesome story that comes along with it. It's a good "sit down and play" game, especially if you're on a long flight.

Might I suggest Utewarerumono: Mask of Lies and Utewarerumono: Mask of Truth. I got those for the PSVita a long while back, they fit into a strategy RPG meets heavy on the visual novel aspects. One of my favorites. Also God Wars, but also a visual novel strategy game mesh and was released on the Switch as well where I have it there too.

I own these on the PS4 actually! Heard the performance & load times are a bit better on there (& wanted it to go with my prelude PS4 game too 😅). God wars I have on the Switch - I think that one has the DLC or something making it the 'complete' version. But not bad choices for others to consider on the Vita!

Hi Emily! This is my first time seeing your channel as this video randomly showed up in my feed. Great to see a fellow Vita collector talk about their favorites. I've owned my Vita a week before launch (Sony did an odd pre-release and came out with the so-called "First Edition" that came with a 4GB card and a copy of Little Deviants which was an Augmented Reality type game that I have yet to open up 😂) Seeing this system from launch all the way up to PSTV and the LCD version, I just wanted to give you some.of my favorites and suggestions as well. The first three games I picked up within that window are Uncharted: Golden Abyss (absolute must play, I know you will love), Ninja Gaiden Sigma (I know this was released on a ton of consoles but at the time, I wanted it portable so it was a no brained for me) and Unit 13 (This is also a great Vita exclusive shooter and it was the last game created by Zipper Interactive, the team behind SOCOM US Navy Seals). If you like shooters, Unit 13 may be worth it. As time went on, I got Ragnarok Odyssey (a Phantasy Star Online / Monster Hunter style Action RPG based on the Ragnarok Online series), Dynasty Warriors Next (a decent, well playing game in that series) and Soul Sacrifice (an early exclusive that has a unique sacrificial mechanic that you use to get more powers in hopes of defeating your opponent.) Like yourself, I also have Muramasa Rebirth (was so glad that game was released because I missed the Wii version) and Tales of Hearts R (which was a Game Stop Exclusive in the US). Since Vita did not have Monster Hunter, I embraced a lot of excellent, Monster Hunter style Action RPGs on the system. In addition to Ragnarok Odyssey, I also picked up Toukiden: Kiwami (this was a more complete version of Age of Demons that was themed around Samurai, Japanese lore and mythology), the absolutely incredible Freedom Wars (I never played this online but the offline is still a ton of fun, story based and totally worth the playthrough. Think a Cyberpunk-ish Phantasy Star Online meets Attack on Titan with Mecha and robots in place of the Titans and you will get the general idea. Also, it seems enhanced when playing it on the PSTV and can be played with a PS4 controller which makes it feel like a console game). Also, in that genre, as you can probably tell by now, I'm a huge Phantasy Star Online fan as well as Monster Hunter so I imported a fun little single player action RPG called Phantasy Star Nova (which was a combination of efforts between SEGA and Tri-Ace, the team behind the Star Ocean series). Yes, it's in Japanese and in terms of reading, it will be difficult to regular players. However, I'm quite adventurous and will play despite my extreme lack of knowledge when it comes to reading Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. Once I got the menus figured out, the game was insane Ina good way! Giant Mecha Prawns with Rail Gina's and missile launchers? Absolutely! Chef Gundam in your party? You better believe it! I've been bugging the hell out of SEGA to localize this for release in the West on the Switch. I truly hope they eventually listen because we have not seen any single player Phantasy Star game since the NDS. I also really enjoyed Dragons Crown. Originally, it was a times exclusive for the Vita. It has also been released on PS3 and PS4. It may be on Steam and Xbox One but I'm not sure at the moment. Currently, the Vita version is the only way to play that game portably. Along with Muramasa, this is another Vanillaware game I would love to see on Switch. We just recently got a demo for the upcoming Unicorn Overlord so hopefully, that's the sign we need for remaster or ports of other Vanillaware classics. For anyone who wants to get into importing and likes custom firmware, despite the fact that a lot of RPGs do not have English versions, keep in mind that some games get English Translation patches which help significantly increase the playability of these games. Anyway, I've rambled for way too long. Great video! Good luck with your channel and I look forward to more upcoming content. I could keep going on as I haven't covered my entire collection but it would take me forever to finish this. Have a great rest of your week and keep up the great work!

The PS Vita was definitely my favorite console to collect for as someone who is a fan of rhythm games, visual novels, and JRPGs. While collecting for the console can be expensive, it got me interested in game importing, something I have carried over to my Switch collection. Definitely get Gravity Rush for the Vita, such a great way to experience the game, and easily my favorite Vita title. Furthermore, Dungeon Traveler's 2 is definitely worth playing. As someone who previously never played a DRPG, the game is surprising deep with character build customization and is very friendly to new players of the genre. Once you get past the excessive fan service, there's a solid game there, glad I gave it a chance. Finally, getting Trails of Cold Steel 1 + 2 on the Vita & PS3 allows you to take advantage of the cross save feature, weird that Sony didn't promote this more since it was basically a precursor to what the Nintendo Switch does.

I bought a Vita and Persona 4 Golden in a Black Friday sale a decade ago and for nearly that entire decade P4G was the only game I owned for it. It wasn't until some time last year while I was on a long travel trip that I visited some retro games store and saw among their stock the Vita versions for Final Fantasy X/X2 Collection and the standalone Virtue's Last Reward part of Nonary Games and thought "Eh...why not? Like I already own both of those on other consoles but I may as well buy them so that I have more than literally one game for this console after 10 years." Though I barely played the console when I got it and then just put it back in the box and onto my shelf where it proceeded to sit for years to present day. At least I own 3 games for it now. (Though I also did order the LRG Switch release for P4G)

It's crazy how much some Vita games cost compared to launch or when places cleared them out at $10. I remember importing games dirt cheap and picking up a vita tv for $20. Thank goodness I did because people seem to sell them at a high price now to make a profit. I guess it's best to buy games now instead of waiting so long. It's sometimes a gamble if a game will drop to $5 or stop being produced and skyrocket. Some games like Gravity Rush remastered and Panzler Dragoon Saga I should have known better not to sell because they launched with a limited amount planned but I figured they would re-release them eventually. I wish they would release shining force 3 parts 1 though 3 again but it's looking like that will never happen

I'm heartbroken that Soul Sacrifice is confined to the Vita. That game has stuck with me for so many years. You have the Monster Hunter combat, dark fairytale monsters and an amazing story almost entirely told and sold through amazing voice actors and artistic text. Its up there with Nier Automata in making me feel and think about the characters and their existence. Saving or sacrificing people as they plead with you and knowing how they turned into a monster. Do they deserve to be saved or sacrificed? Or will you stick with your order and do what they expect of you. Im not going to speak about the ending but just wow, amazing game from start to finish.

A few more exclusives I'm familiar with: DJMAX Technika Tune (You can get the songs as DLC in DJMAX Respect, it doesn't play exactly the same - Technika on Vita and in arcades is a touchscreen game, other DJMAX games use buttons), and Drive Girls (It's an action, kind of musou-like game about girls that can transform into cars). There wasn't much to it, but Neptunia PP: Producing Perfection is another Vita exclusive. Disgaea 3 is also only available on PS3/Vita - It doesn't have a 'complete' port on Switch like most of the other numbered entries for some reason. There's also no Steam version, so while it does also exist on PS3 it's very close to being a Vita exclusive. Ar Nosurge is also only on PS3 and Vita, and the Vita version also includes all of the PS3 version's DLC. There is an Ar Nosurge DX in Japan for Switch/PS4/PC since 2021, but no mention of a localization yet. Games available elsewhere I enjoyed a lot on Vita: Monster Monpiece has a Steam version, and is only available digitally in the west on Vita but I enjoyed that game as well. It also leans lewd in some of its upgrade mechanics (frantic screen rubbing, front and back touchscreen at the time time 🫣), but the game itself is also pretty fun. It was sort of like autochess/auto battlers before they were popular where you draw cards and can place them in a lane, then they automatically progress toward an opponent. I really enjoyed the Neptunia games on Vita (particularly the Re;Birth 1-3 series - Switch ports were just announced for these recently [in Japan, at least] and they're also on Steam). Valkyrie DriveMind Zero, Ray Gigant, Conception II, Tokyo Tattoo Girls, Criminal Girls I and II, Senran Kagura Bon Appetit (all have Steam versions, but physical is exclusive to Vita) These also aren't exclusive (and a few are imports), but: Child of Light, DOA Xtreme, Moe Chronicle, Miracle Girls Festival, Hatsune Miku Project Diva F and F 2nd, - gosh I've enjoyed so many games on Vita. My favorite was probably Steins;Gate, which you covered - one of few games that has actually made me cry while playing it. Steins;Gate 0 is 'midquel', it's a bit complicated with it being about time travel as you might expect, but their explanation for the 'zero' (and it specifically being one with a line through it) is pretty interesting. I like the first game more overall, but more Steins;Gate was certainly welcome!

anytime! They are very heavily rooted in VN style gameplay (as it started as a VN) and honestly, the Vita has some of th emost amazing VNs. TLDR: play them on the vita not the ps4, much more rewarding experience @@orbalology

the steins gate games are amazing and you’re right the original version is better. I’m currently playing muv luv and even if it comes to switch the vita version still has trophies so imo it’s better.

I have the Code Realize Trilogy CEs on both Vita and Switch IMO you’re better off just getting the switch versions because docked mode on the Switch can be really clutch and the higher resolution really pops out on a TV 👌

Oh good to know! I imagine finding the switch versions will likely be easier too so I may just go for those unless I find a great bundle deal for the vita versions.

One import you might want to look into is the Ratchet and Clank trilogy that came out in Japan/pal territories.
@orbalology7 ай бұрын
I've been considering this! Though I hear it's kinda rough (like the Jak trilogy is on the Vita - but maybe to a lesser degree than that). I've been toying with the idea of getting a PS3 to get both those collections on there but they apparently break down easily so not sure if I should get into that or not 😅
@baldchinchilla7 ай бұрын
@orbalology it's not unplayable, but it is on the rough side. If you can get it for a good deal, I'd recommend the Vita version, but I'm not sure what it's going for these days. I found it in a small shop while visiting family in Ohio of all places.

I was just mentioning how Vita prices had went down dramatically since the pandemic or so. I just bought Uncharted, Wipeout, Dragon's Crown, Freedom Wars and LittleBigPlanet. I have one modded Vita, but I plan on buying another for physical games. Vita games aren't that common though, I find them harder to find than 3DS.
@orbalology7 ай бұрын
Out in the wild they're much more difficult to hunt for compared to the 3DS. Though this past year or so I've had a lot of luck finding titles for decent prices online.

@@orbalology Even though I already own all the games - except Despair Girls on the PS4, I would love to have all the Danganronpa games on Vita. I loved VA-11 HALL-A so much I'd buy it a second time on Vita, but that game is more expensive than I'd like. .

I really do prefer to play games on a TV, but I always have owned the handheld devices for the exclusives. I am interested in Steins Gate but I guess the original version is only released on Vita and PS3 outside of PC I guess? Muramasa I am pretty sure we going to get remastered on current consoles at some point. I live in Europe and Muramasa was not released over here on the Vita so I hope it gets a modern version so I dont need to import it and pay custom charges. Tales of Hearts R I have my eye on, but Its not cheap in Europe. Its not unaffordable but I am waiting for a good deal lol. I only own Persona 4 Golden and Ys memories of Celceta on the Vita. I have played Tearaway on PS4 and it works great, strange I have always heard the PS4 version is the superior version. I highly recommend Gravity Rush, both games are very charming. I think you would like them.

@orbalology7 ай бұрын
I've been playing it and enjoying my replay! If you own these games on the PS4 I don't think it's too much different. However I've had fun playing around with the DLC costumes that are included, the load times are really fast, and the lighting I think looks slightly better. I've had a few audio issues where the some of the voice acting gets cut off in high speed mode, but I can't recall if that was an issue on the PS4 versions as well or not.
