Mobas is fun to get a consistent way to play a game master deeply with friends. And even if people can be toxic that is also an opportunity to learn valuable skills to handle that. So actually I think it can be kind of more deep than many games even if the theme isn’t really story about something meaningful.

Night in The Woods is also a pretty good game that makes you think about life. It makes you realize that not everything is going to stay the same. People change, locations change, the very ground beneath our feet can change. The rebellious troublemaker of the past can now be the hardworking future sighter in the same way that the intelligent gifted ones can end up working menial deadend jobs. Also the game just looks pretty, it's characters are loveable, and the soundtrack...my goodness the soundtrack is just hands down amazing. You know a game is good when you can just sit at the title menu and jam out to it without even starting the game.

Spiritfarer Goddamn this game means so much to me. Through each character it shows you how to come to terms with death, Gwen’s is about the acceptance of the end and embracing it, Atul’s is the abruptness of death and showing how you should value every moment, and that’s all I’ll share to not get into the latter spirits. With each spirit you know the end is coming and as something simple as Atul asking you to catch lightning and you saying no hit me with regret when I realized he’s gone. Gwen’s struggle with wanting to control her future because she couldn’t control her past and her eventually coming to terms that she can’t control her future, and then realizing it’s her time. That was the part that hit me like a truck, each character has a key part to them that’s missing and some never find it.

Life is Strange was one of my best experiences while gaming. It made me feel so much for the characters and would get me so immersed to where when I was tired and ready to go to bed I still wanted to play and see where the story goes. It was like a TV show and I couldn't stop binging it. I still remember the events as if I was there in the game with the characters.

On my first play through of A Short Hike I was so focused on beating the game, that it was basically a fast run. I cane back to the game like months later and decided to explore the world, and that’s when I properly invested in all the characters and honestly they are the soul of the game. I had so many pleasant surprises and ended up feeling less alone 🥺 I love this game

Another game that makes you think about life may be TWDG. The Walking Dead Games (Seasons 1-4) really made me think about my relationships, morals, other people’s morals, my decision making and problem solving skills, and independence. It’s the first game that really made me feel sadness or guilt for my actions. Yes, it gives you the illusion of freedom, but it’s more about the story. Firewatch, Night in The Woods and Meadow are some of my favorite games that totally makes you think about life. Meadow is similar to Journey that you have some puzzles to solve as a group. No chat, no name tags - just emotes and going around a uniquely stylized world as an animal of your choice. It’s sort of a lite version of Journey though because there is no end goal and is more about going around socializing. If anyone’s curious you should check it out, it’s really wholesome and therapeutic.

I would HIGHLY recommend dark souls. The whole game I thought "cant wait to beat this game and flex to my friends about it", but after the final boss I was like "damn......."
@wopsieneter2 жыл бұрын
I played a game called Meadow recently. Its a strange, simple "MMO" where you play as an animal in the wilderness. Your only means of communication is through pings, much like Journey. Unlike Journey however you literally just get dropped in, left to your own confusion. I didnt have a single clue of what to do until another, experienced player found me. Turns out there isnt too much to do, but the experience of overcoming the confusion with a stranger, wandering the forests and mountains was a fantastic evening and very inspiring. If i gotta chock it up to an IGN catch-phrase: Its Journey, but you set your own objectives.

An obvious pick of a meaningful game is ofc the Nier series, both the original and Automata really blur the lines between what is right and wrong and let the player draw their own conclusion. Its fantastic. Something that I have also found extremely meaningful is actually fighting games. They may seem pompuous or exaggerated, and they are, but they can also be so much more subtle than people give them credit for. Fighting games to me represent something so real and the amount of control you can have over your character's actions, how you can express yourself through them is something I think is unrivaled in other genres. Maybe its because im also a musician, but I found the process of learning to play fighting games so familiar yet humbling. You can always get better, you can always get smarter but there is no one way to do so. Much like old musicians that only got better with age on their instrument, I get the same feeling from fighting games that I dont get with competitive shooters or MOBAs or strategy games.

But basically it starts with me having a hot-air balloon accident, I fall onto an island, then I work my way to fix my balloon to return home with the help of the island people. But to enjoy the experience and fun along with someone else along the way. That's journey want me to feel. Just don't mind your goal eventually you reach it without noticing at all. I had a discussion with my children at dinner recently and I said to them the very thing I learned during my 66 years on this planet. Don't sacrifice the present for the sake of the future. Try to live in the moment as much as possible, most of us either live in the past or in the future without knowing it. This is the essence of what people who practice Transcendental Meditation try to master, it is extremely difficult to get rid of that noise in your head and sometimes takes years to truly master. Just goes to show that one can be truly at peace without any "things" to clutter your life.

Almost all the games from Cyan, Myst, Uru, etc. And Stardew Valley. All other multiplayer games it depended on whether I made a connection with other people, or not. FFXI back in 2008-2009, great connections, FFXIV not so much. Ok connections for GW, not so much for GW2. Went back to FFXI on a private server in 2019, and it was a blast, again. And ToonTown online, I played for the kids, back in the day, stayed up late with the other parents. AND Pikmin, the original , on GameCube. 17 days was my record. The kids , now all grown, all play Zelda of course, and so the family has a soft spot for it, altho I only ever watched.
