I can forgive Saints Row being about some woke communists pretending to be gangsters. That's that it felt like to me. However, I can not forgive the bland and boring gameplay. The game puts me to sleep.

If you go into this game without the expectation of the older saints row games and kind of think of it as it’s own game it’s actually fire. I don’t understand the issues people are having must just be mad it’s not like the old ones cause this game is actually amazing if you didn’t spend 70 on it and can understand how to snap your aim and press L2 and X to quick turn in your cars. People just wanted it to be like the old ones and I’m not mad about what it is. Think of it as a GTA meets Fortnite graphics but you feel like an unstoppable tank. The game is lit and there is a ton of haters for no reason

Man. I just wish it wasn’t destroyed like it was. The game had so much potential, and it was THOROUGHLY squandered by what turned out to be one of the worst devs I’ve played a game for. I want to still love the game, but, frankly, I don’t know if I do. I’ve followed the game since its first trailers on KZbin, the tech demo stuff they released, all of that.

For me the thing in Starbound (and many other Games) that is missing are "good" NPC's... You can Build up Bases all over but can not Populate them with "smart" NPC's that are doing work for you... means that you have to do repetive things over and over again for houres, days, weeks... again and again. But that a issue in many Games i Play and seem to be a "Game Concept" today... letting Player waste the Time by Harvesting - Collecting etc... Bad QoL all over - to distract Players from the "Real" problems of the Game. But well, that a "common" problem and not "Starbound only" problem.

L4D will forever screw over anything thats remotely similar to it and i hate it for it. L4D only popular cause its free and mods carry the game. Without those things the game is pretty boring nowadays.

I followed that game for awhile, was excited with each iteration. Weird that they did stuff like remove temperature and add races when the game wasnt even close to done yet

I'm enjoying Starbound after discovering for the first time about a month ago. It definitely needs some mods for QoL stuff(thank you steam), but I'm having a good time with it. From what I gather in the comments, I think this is one of those games where you can make your own fun with it if you don’t know the history. I'm enjoying a game that I purchased blindly and had no expectations for. I can imagine how seeing the game fall from grace would make it basically unplayable for some. It's a shame :(

I remember being overjoyed to hear that Back 4 Blood was coming out. I hadn't played console games in a while, but I had my younger sibling get the game on her PS5 just so that we could play the game together. Upon release, B4B was single player, which immediately killed the couch co-op vibe that L4D had. By the time we got the game it had been out for a month or two, and the learning curve was intense. I couldn't figure out what was happening, and everytime I joined a match it seemed like all the other players were so far ahead. For most games you can kind of pick up on what's going on, but B4B had way too harsh of a learning curve. You mention it in the video, but I could never figure out the card system. Not to mention the game was hard. as. fuck. It took forever to complete a campaign. Kind of like how L4D would have multiple maps within a campaign, each one being a saferoom, but when you died you had to restart? B4B had that, but each campaign had like, 5-6 different 'safe rooms,' where you'd kind of return to the lobby and get the option to leave the game and come back later. Which was cool, but that meant you might have different teammates recycled in and out everytime you finished a map of a campaign. That also meant that if you left the game for a day or two and came back, you'd have to pick up at level 4 of a campaign with a bunch of randoms (and probably die immediately.) And, upon dying, it would lock the rest of the campaign for you, and you'd have to restart from the beginning. I wanted to enjoy it sooooooo bad, but it just wasn't as good as L4D used to be. :( womp womp.

That weird whooshing noise you've put in made this video horrible to listen to in the background just as a heads up. It's like I'm trying to listen to this and play a game and someone is heavy breathing into a mic or blowing into my ear or something, horrible. Video itself was decent, not trying to just be a hater, but i doubt i'm the only one thinking this.

This whole situation you show is kinda shocking to me ngl. I enjoy starbound, the game itself isn't perfect and a little boring at times but it's ok to chill a little while playing it. My friend was one of the beta players and he told me some time ago how he remembers many things that got deleted from the game. It's sad how it turned out but i think starbound still can be fun to play. Modding community really did help this game grow and with mods such as Frackin' Universe the game doesn't feel so empty. One of the biggest flaws i really don't like are the side quests given by random npcs. "Give me that, then craft that and give it to me." "find this guy and bring him to me" "kill this thing" - and i think those are all the quests I can recall xd.

I was really hoping that I didn't already know exactly what the story would be. But it is the same every time : charismatic lead overpromises. hype rises to a fever pitch, then delays and delays as the seed money gets frittered away on shint toys of the lead and his cronies and othr such things, then a quarter-assed demo is released, and it soon becomes evidenct that the whole thing is yet another Kickstarter fiasco. And why? Brace yourtself for the gift of my Gne X cynicism, kids : BECAUSE THEY aLREADY HAVE THE MONEY. And when you have a million bucks, you start to FEEL like a million bucks,m and suddenly doing the hard work of making a decent game seems unappealing. That's peasant work. And the charismatic lead's ego inflates like a bullfrog's vocal sac and of course, this leads to things like revolving door hiring as people are attracted by the hype and prestige then learn what a clusterfudge the whole thing is and what a phallus the lead dev is and vamoose, and of course said dev doing poopy things like exploiting free labout because he now feels like that million bucks is HIS money and anyone who actually expects to be paid for value delivered is clearly a rival and a parasite and entitled. Eventually, any faith people had in the project is completely gone and you get a "run on the banks" as people demanding their money back and not getting it leads to more people demanding their money back. But you're not getting it backj, because a) lead dev already spent it, b) he saw it as HIS money now anyhow, and c) Kickstart campaigns have no legal status or force of law, and therefore lead dev has no obligation to do anything at all. All of this leads to the whole thing craterng like it fall from space and boom, you have another cookie-cutter Kickstarter fiasco. Looke around, it's the exact same story ev ery single time. In medical terms, it's a remarkably stable pathology. The only way around it is to NOT GIVE THEM THE MONEY FIRST. People can't be trusted with that.

I played a lot of Starbound, solo and with friends. I had a lot of fun through it all, but I like building things so perhaps that's why I kept interest as long as I did, all the problems cited in the video and throughout the comments are spot on, I joined long after the initial fall out I believe so that's part of why I missed a lot of this drama as...drama like this is why I tend to not follow games. Most of what kept the game fun was the modding community. They could do what Chucklefish was far too lazy and inept to do and inject worlds, ships, races, scenarios, etc. If Starbound had a bit more polish and was presented more so as a set of tools for the modding community, I think the game would still be going strong rather than what they attempted.

According to my Steam profile, the last time I played Starbound was Aug 17, 2016, and I only have 8.2 hours on it. I barely even remember anything from those 8.2 hours, which is really telling. It's tragic that the devs' hard work ultimately ended up being fruitless, all because the company as a whole was managed poorly.

I think there was a beta for this game? Some kind of free trial before it released and I participated. The charm of both the characters and the infected were gone, infected were just... the infected, they weren't as memorable as the hunter, smoker, boomer etc. The characters were bland and the gameplay was just Ok. I lost interest in less than an hour. Meanwhile I remember participating on L4D1 beta, and it was awesome from the start. Awesome zombies, the horde was jaw dropping at the time, the very charismatic characters and satisfying gameplay. But surely I'm also considering that for the time it was quite a revolutionary and fresh game.

I only played this at launch and maybe the following year or so. It's some of if not the most fun I've ever had in a computer game. It was killed by rampant cheating. So I guess lack of an effective anti-cheat.
