ILLest Suspect HD, think of it like this, if you want a FOR SURE good experience with a game, and leave my hate aside, go with the one made by Nintendo ITSELF, it has gotten nothing but praise and everyone is loving what they see so far, while fire emblem warriors has recieved hate across the board not only for its lacking roster, but also for the fact it is a mindless button masher, and i dont care what anyone says, just because you need to press more than one button, that doesn't make said button masher strategic, a warriors game will bore you to death after the first innitial, say, 5-6 hours of gameplay, it will get reppetetive and will end up like hyrule warriors as in it was hardly mentioned after it's release, but either way, it's your choice im just telling you what i think is the best choice for a good experience. EDIT: sorry for grammatical errors

I'l'l be honest. When I first clicked this video I was surprised there was a review so early, and I assumed that this was going to be one of those low budget mediocre reviews that a lot of smaller youtubers tend to do, but after watching the video, I have to say, this review is quite on point. The audio quality, the transitions, the lack of spoilers, the actual warning of spoilers, the clear tone of the reviewer coming off as informative and unbiased while still getting me excited for the game really made this review for me. Also the music, both in the intro and the ending are perfect, I get so tired of hearing loud dubstep intros/outtros blasting in my ear so it's refreshing to hear something catchy. Really, this review has sold me on the game, I was on the fence because I played the series, and am mostly a casual fan, but this review really told me everything I needed to know. You sir have earned yourself a subscriber.

This game looks great despite the roster problems. Whoever decided to release it so close to Odyssey should be fired. I would've picked this up in September, but with it so close to Odyssey I'll have to place this on my list to pick up later down the line. It should lower in price sooner than most Nintendo games I assume since this is kind of a 3rd party game. Games looking a lot better than I expected though.

Excellent review! Very in-depth and informative I have some comments through. 1. Depending on how you look at it, Warriors Orochi was the first console Warriors game to have character-switching. The only difference was that they weren't placed on the battlefield at the same time, and you simply cycle through them. The first console game to have proper character switching was Samurai Warriors 4 I believe. FEW improved upon both by giving you both options, the ability to command other controllable characters on the battlefield and switch to them, and the ability to instantaneously take control of another character on the spot. It's the best of both worlds. 2. I think using FE for this crossover somewhat restricted Omega Force's creativity in the movesets, since many of the weapons in the FE universe are pretty grounded when compared to Zelda. It's a lot easier to come up with unique and diverse movesets when you have fantasy elements thrown into the mix. This may or may not have influenced their decision to create cloned movesets.

Very well-done review: does a great job explaining every aspect of the game, especially in how it compares to other musou-style games, as well as to Hyrule Warriors. I feel that all the extra gameplay nuances that these collaborations introduce to the genre really go a long way to making the games much more engaging, thus enjoyable; and I really wish that the Dragon Quest Heroes titles would take some queues from these Nintendo-themed entries, as the DQ Heroes games just feel like re-skinned Dynasty Warriors games.

A very well done review. I enjoyed listening to it. Even though your opinions of the game are the polar opposite to mine, I can still appreciate the quality of the review. For the record, I think Hyrule Warriors definitive edition is a must buy for Musou and Zelda fans, Fire Emblem Warriors on the other hand is worth it on sale only. I'll explain in short why I think FE Warriors is only worth it on sale in my opinion. - Limited number of playstyles. In most musou games, the number of weapons is the number of playstyles as most of them allow any character to equip any weapon. Less than 20 unique weapons in a musou game is really disappointing. - The holy trinity and extra two are a mixed bag. By that I mean, Sword/spear/Axe and Arrow/Book. In the average Fire Emblem game, that's all you need for great type strengths and weaknesses to add lots of strategy to the battles. The same strategy still exists in FE Warriors, which is a good thing, there are two downsides to this. You can mostly ignore the holy trinity if you over level and brute force a mission. It does not take too many levels to do this. Of cause this is at your own risk in perma death on the story mode. The other issue is the holy trinity plus 2 means all of the approximately 15 different weapons are grouped into one of 5 rough playstyles. You can't pull a Hyrule Warriors here and have a strange or weird weapon, just because you can. If a weapon's playstyle doesn't at least roughly confirm stylistically to the holy trinity plus 2 then it wont be in the game. This further reduces the diversity in the different playstyles in the game. - I'm not a FE fan. I don't hate FE, I just never got into it. The FE Warriors story mode, while I do like the fact that it branches out a lot at times, what you're doing is very monotonous. As in not the combat, but the objectives of each mission. The Hyrule Warriors story mode, while not at all close to the source material (FE Warriors is much closer), I do feel the HW story mode is actually fun to play. The FE Warriors story mode became dull and repetative quite quickly. I was expecting something like Dynasty Warriors 8. A map where you control one army and are battling another force, be it human or non human to retake territory. You could really have great story information between the battles. Not just character dialogue, but how the battle actually affected the progression of the war and other issues in the game. This just isn't the case and it leaves the FE Warriors story mode feel more like a chore then a fun experience. - The history mode is not bad. The stories associated with each one are honestly not that great. I think a FE Warriors reboot of Hyrule Warriors Adventure Mode would have been a better fit. You did mention that you didn't like the "filler" squares on the Hyrule Warriors Adventure Mode maps. I don't find them to be fillers. I see them as different challenges. Not every map has to be the same kill 2000 enemies while taking the forts. Also trying to kill a certain captain (The HW enemy Heroes) while avoiding to kill two others also attacking you at times is not easy at all to do. It's really fun. The only really bad ideas in the Hyrule Warriors Adventure mode is the one hit death maps. The maps where you and the enemies die in one hit can be interesting depending on how you play them, but the maps where the player dies in one hit while all the enemies don't die in one hit, are an excersise in frustration. The worst maps in the game. My point? The FE Warriors adventure mode does lack this variety in map design. Though in short bursts it's not that bad. It's certainly much better than the FE Warriors story mode. - The initial placement of your heroes on the map as well as the team up feature are good ideas and do add in strategy into the game. They work well. At times they feel required to beat certain missions which is not a bad thing at all. - The lack of most boses is a good thing in FE Warriors. These boses were fundamentally flawed in Hyrule Warriors. A flaw that no other musou game has. The boses in Hyrule Warriors had weak points you needed to attack to expose the weak point gauge as you know. My point? These weak points only appeared with RNG. You have to wait for the weak points to show themselves. That's an issue when you are on a time limit to make A Rank. Failing time for A Rank because the boss weak points were too slow to randomly appear is very frustrating. The bosses in Hyrule Warriors are a great idea, just quite terribly executed in game for the previously mentioned reasons. FE Warriors not having these kinds of boses (for the most part) avoids this flaw all together which is a very good thing. Overall the assessment that FE Warriors is quality over quantity is very subjective at best and a gross misrepresentation of what makes a good musou game at worst. Musou games are all about bringing many many different weapons (play styles) into the mix. Not all of them need to be good. It is totally ok to have a few amazing weapons and a few terrible ones. The better weapons are fun to use and help people new to musou games to improve in the game. The bad weapons are what the pros use as a challenge. There's a large enough croud out there who like to beat games using the worse ingame weapons to challenge themselves. This is not a criticism of FE Warriors specifically, it's just saying how FE Warriors does not understand the musou genre that it is trying so very hard to emulate. I stand by my assessment of FE Warriors being only worth the money on sale. There is just not enough good fun content and not enough variation in the different weapons. On the other hand Hyrule Warriors is very different to most musou games in msot ways and proudly wears these differences on it's sleeve. This is the one reason to get Hyrule Warriors. It's far from perfect but it's unique and fun.

Positives: -Combat is a lot more strategic due to the FE elements added in. -Weak Point Smashes don't require you to wait for attacks, making them less tedious. -None of the playstyles seem bad. -There's seems to be more enemies onscreen at once. -There's still a 2-player mode. -Soundtrack. Negatives: -Clones. I know that in FE, characters of the same class are essentially in what they can do, only differentiated by their stats and skills, but this isn't an RPG. And while I'm OK with same classes having the same moves, the special classes (Lords) shouldn't have had any clones. At worst, the clones should've only had the same standard strings with different heavies and enders. -3 of the NPCs, Oboro, Niles, and Owain are part of the Season Pass, meaning you have to pay for characters that are already in the game. And aside from Oboro, they are clones of existing warriors. And with this as a precedent, the rest of the DLC characters unless they are a new class type are going to be clones (I've been informed that Navarre is a Lyn clone). -The game has bad weapon type distribution. About 10 of the 23 characters are sword users, and aside from Tiki, the remaining weapons only have 3 users. What's worse, there are no flying sword users, no non-flying lance users, no flying mages, and no non-infantry archer. -Unless this gets patched, all characters have 1 weapon type despite most of the classes normally having access to 2 or 3 in FE games. This could've added to the diversity of the cast. -The weapon ranking only goes up to Silver, and aside from legendary weapons, there aren't many special weapons. Leo's Iceblade and the Levin Sword could've been special weapons, but instead, they are tied to Leo and Robin's movesets respectively. This is disappointing for a series that has plenty of weapons to use.
@Sweeps7 жыл бұрын
It looks like Minerva is going to be like Fredrick, Navarre is going to be like Lyn or Ryoma, and Niles is going to be like the other archers. Tharja is probably going to have a different moveset than robin, Linde I think is going to be like a diviner, using card like magic balls, owain is unique cus I’ve seen him attack, azura is prob going to be different than Oboro, and Olivia is probably going to be unique because she isn’t royal, and all the other sword users are legit royal so yeah ( I’m assuming )

Agree in general with the review and have spent hundreds of hours playing it, but I'd think it fair to add 2 particular nitpicks to the game that can get tedious and annoying in certain missions: - Temporarily gaining control of a character with an order to "guard a location or unit" in order to clear a nearby hindrance can cancel their guard order. I occasionally found myself failing missions because I didn't realise that after I returned to my standard character, my guard character decided to wander off in the opposite corner of the map, therefore I had no one to guard the critical location or to get to it in time. There should have been a specific order to "move freely" and just not cancel an order that you may rely on without your approval. - There is a very obnoxious waiting time in some missions with short objectives, namely arena missions, where after clearing a full wave of enemies you're forced to wait for each individual pop up for each eliminated enemy, along with all captain/warrior dialogue to play out before the game moves on to the next objective. It gets even more annoying when replaying story mode missions for farming/grinding and you have to wait through some forced dialogue/cutscene (I'm looking at you chapter 20 story mission) that you've already seen over a dozen times when you could be clearing objectives in that time instead. It really breaks the pacing of an otherwise fast-paced game.

I really don't understand why Celica is a clone of Marth. She can use magic! They could have used that to make her entire moveset unique, not just her specials... Also, the roster still totally kills me inside. I'm glad to hear the gameplay is top notch, I'm slightly less furious about the game, but still. The dlc planned for this game is still focusing on the 3 games that are already over-represented. Do I really have to wait until Spring of 2018 to hear about other games getting representation, or a possible sequel?

I picked up the game a few weeks ago as I enjoy warriors games and was introduced to the fire emblem series through engage. The unique mechanics really give the game a unique feel compared to other warriors game. Even so I found myself trying to look for similarities between it and Hyrule warriors. The story progression is almost identical from my memory with a branching pathway around the early-halfway point and the final WindWaker themed story map and the FE warriors final map being almost identical in form. I really enjoyed FE warriors and if Nintendo came out with an FE warriors ‘definitive edition’ in 2/3 years with modern characters and new challenges, I’d happily buy it.

It did surpass my expectations. I was surprised there were characters from games other than awakening and fates.

Great Review ^^ I am totally hyped for this game 😍 is the multiplayer really not good? Loved it on Hyrule Warriors. And is there only split screen or also local with two consoles? That could be better 🤔

Hanna Wie It's fine, wonderful in story mode and free mode, but makes high rating harder in History. Not a problem if you're replaying for Anna memories (basically the Skulltulas)

Hyrule warriors was my first warriors game and I have fire emblem warriors for new 3ds but my new 2ds plays it fine. I was instantly overwhelmed as I thought I was getting a tactical turn based for which fire emblem has been heavily based on. A fan of the old and new XCOM games an appreciator of the final fantasy Tactics series and my recent turn based strategy to myself I think this is an epic evolution to the core mechanics of the strategies found in chess disgaea5 complete for the switch and MARIO+RABBIDS were my first two games for my switch. Uncommon to titles like xenoblade chronicles 2 i wanted something giving alot of replay value. Disgaea5 seemed to have more depth and repeatability but the main failing of these huge storylines is that often when you beat these games they offer no post game activity like disgaea5 and hyrule warriors. XCOM the new two reimagining of the series made me realize that XCOM was chess+risk as you defend the earth and that can be replayed over and over again. My question is should I invest in fire emblem warriors for my switch as I am starting to really like hyrule warriors for my switch. The adventure mode is amazing fan service to the legendary franchise. Covers nearly every evolving through out the series history. Meaning they have windwaker and some of the other titles as overworld maps. I really liked this exploring these classics in a new way. The warriors dynasty series I never played but then I noticed a similar feel to a control point occupation or strategy game like battlefront the two original games where controlling each control point was like a tug of war as it would give u a massive battlefield advantage. There's alot I like about hyrule warriors definitive sometimes I find it very confusing to give orders to my other playable characters. I try to control every point before I go for the enemy COMMANDER. I do this to build awareness perhaps have a higher opportunity to farm materials and weapons and start to slowly gain familiarity with the characters and mechanics of the strategies. Legend mode there's one mission I keep failing not sure why. I usually don't pay to level up due to i like to get familiar with the new characters abilities. It's alot of fun and I usually control the less level fighter so they level up but I enjoy the Zelda and mass battle idea. In a way it has a risk mechanic as more control points on the battlefield you have the more your troops or grunts can hold back the enemy's advance to some extent. I have seen many adventure mode videos but I don't want to watch a walkthrough I would prefer if someone made a video covering how to read the map what the symbology really means and that information would be far more helpful. Why would I want to watch someone play the game wait for little gems of info to help me to clear it myself only to recopy what I saw on the video. I would appreciate an In depth explanation of what the stage screen actually means and how to interpret what to do next. If you could do a detailed video on that I would appreciate it. Thanks for letting me share and please let me know if you think I should rebuy warriors for my switch i already have it for my 3ds and I hardly play it but I might go back and try again now that I understand hyrule warriors definitive a little better.

I played this game around the time I first starting playing Fire Emblem which I played to see a showcase of whats to come and I had no clue what I was doing, so my old save is just one decent unit and all button mashing. well... I might replay this someday.

I don't get why everyone's bitching about the clones; Fire Emblem as a series gives you multiple of the same unit type all the time, like the Cain and Abel cavaliers (or the time they were both Ninjas). If anything this could mean that there will be greater potential for featuring more characters, as the weapons are already set up and as far as I can figure the only unique elements are their specials.
@GarbenTheBerserker7 жыл бұрын
Because the roster misses out on essential Fire Emblem elements like Lance Cavalry and Armored Knights.
@rodinclaus93807 жыл бұрын
That's a wholly different topic however; Celica being in doesn't mean that Cain or (more likely) Camus was omitted...
@GarbenTheBerserker7 жыл бұрын
They ommited. There aren't any Armored characters or any characters on horseback who use lances. Instead we got far too many sword movesets.
@paganex7 жыл бұрын
I have to say something: the weapon triangle works exactly like his Dynasty Warriors 8 counterpart (even if in that game it was an elemental triangle), the pair up is symilar to his Warrior Orochi counterpart for the exception that in that game is a pair up with 3 heroes
@Rayhaku8087 жыл бұрын
paganex the only thing is that the mechanics work better in this game together.

Been playing this game for a while, and I consider it to be a great successor to Hyrule Warriors. I am kind of hoping for a sequel, as some gameplay mechanics that work well in FE Warriors kind of feel a little problematic: -The restriction on one weapon per unit kind of limits their moveset potential, it could be interesting to see Chrom use lances in some moves or Frederick using the entire weapon triangle, though it makes sense for the weapon triangle system. -Some of the clones being clones somewhat makes sense (Rowan/Lianna, Leo/Elise, Chrom/Lucina), though some of the clone pairs kind of don't make that much sense due to the characters having different abilities (Robin/Tharja, Marth/Celica), and I feel like in a sequel they could be well differentiated in terms of moveset. -The story feels kind of an afterthought. It's not a bad story, but it doesn't really do that well as a crossover, and the villains except Darios are rather poorly used. Despite these somewhat minor complaints, I consider this a fantastic warriors game and anyone who refuses to get this on the grounds that Ike and Roy aren't in are missing out on a great game.

I'm extremely confused on why Marth and Celica are both clones.
@StevenUlyssesPerhero7 жыл бұрын
Because Celica's inclusion was a mandate from Nintendo, so they gave her Marth's moveset to have her finished in time.

The Guardian But this is Echoes Celica. You really think IS would’ve asked them to add Celica the character from Gaiden the game no one played?
@theguardian61957 жыл бұрын
EmblemBlade9 But they added the Fire Emblem Gaiden version of Twilight of the Gods, not the Echoes version. It was obvious that they were planning to add someone from Gaiden. When Echoes was first revealed, it was probably the time they started to work on her.

Great review, I never really played a Fire Emblem game unless you count the Awakening Demo on the eshop. I might actually pick this up, not on day one because I don't buy games day one, but maybe once play a little more Fire Emblem(most likely Awakening and Fates). Also glad to see someone not complaining about the fact that the roster has mostly awakening and Fates Characters.

Hey Gamesbrained, I really appreciate your review and it has helped me make an informed decision in advance, but I have to ask, I’ve played a little FE before and one thing I can’t stand is permadeath. Maybe it’s a stupid question, but is there anything like that here? Where you fail a mission and lose that character? Maybe I’m paranoid but it looks amazing and if I got it and found out there was permadeath, it would suck and be a real dealbreaker
@StevenUlyssesPerhero7 жыл бұрын
This game has Casual and Classic modes. Casual Mode is Warrirors as usual, if one of your characters runs out of health, they're only gone for that episode. In Classic Mode, you can't use them again. You can't switch from Casual to Classic, but you *can* go from Classic to Casual, and anyone you lost will become available again.
@emblemblade92457 жыл бұрын
Is permadeath story mode only? Can you replay story maps with characters that died, once the story is complete, regardless of mode? Does characters dying really screw you over since maps require strategy and moving several units you can individually control?
@konnorkent81137 жыл бұрын
EmblemBlade9 Classic affects the whole game. So even after you complete the story, dead characters stay dead unless you revive them (which costs a few gold materials IIRC) or change to Casual. Another review for the game said that after you complete the story mode, you should change it to Casual if it isn't there already.

With the 2 versions of Hyrule Warriors, there were distinct differences that gave both versions an edge over the other. With this one is there any reason someone would the 3DS version over the Switch, outside the obvious lack of console? It's hard to find info on whether it's worth bothering with the 3DS version at all.
@GamesBrained7 жыл бұрын
ProtoZealott This time around it seems like they're actually just ports, so if you have a Switch there's no reason to get the 3DS version, unless you just want to for some reason. For example I like traveling with my 3DS more than my Switch, it's smaller, longer battery life, etc

Multiple character picking and active switching of characters has been in a previous Warriors series as it has been in Warriors Orochi since back in 2007. In Warriors Orochi 2 and 3 there were even special musou movies for certain combinations of characters.
