Trojan Hippo Actually there were two attempts on the live demo, the first one didn't work out because the Retaliator couldn't jump back to the station once they wasted the Connie for some reason, most likely subsystem damage (repair is not in yet to this level of detail). The equipment used for switching between the different streams was rented for the event and it came with some young dude operating it, Jared was just standing next to him - Jared didn't control that directly in the first take, hence the many attempts at switching and also Chris didn't know the switch operator dude's name. On the second playthrough, Jared just pushed the guy away and did it himself directly (also, Chris allowed him to freestyle), which is why the second playthrough at the event was so much better.

mhe0815 Yes I remeber watching it the second time, I do quite like how the Retaliator's systems were damage the first time. Really gives a sense of how events can play out differently in the game

McClover I like it more this way. When it's practised too much and everything goes smooth it makes me think -It's scripted so it's bullshit untill I play and see it to be true. Now when you can clearly see that if someone is doing something he should have not done and everything still goes like it should. I mean that the game works still as it should thats when I know that this is actually being played and not just script demo like Bugisoft does.

Impressive. Nice to see it all coming together. I actually liked the ending in this version with the broken down quantum drive better than the ending in the press version. The fact alone that you can send someone to the engine room to try to figure out whats wrong and get the engines back online on the engineering console is pretty cool. Kind off like in the Empire Strikes Back when the Falcon runs from the empire and the hyperdrive is down and Han rushes back to try to fix it.

Don't be too rough on jared, they did this a second time and it went really well until roberts started to yell instructions at jared again. I feel like they practiced the demo one way many times and then roberts just wants to do everything differently onstage.

Doan08 Tony Zurovec created the PC game Crusader back in the day and that is an homage to it. Like how we have Origin Jumpworks, Anvil Aerospace, they're call backs to previous companies and games CR and company have worked on.

If you missed this live, it is a mash up of 2 times. The first time the Connie blew the hell out of the Retaliator and the cutlass. In the first attempt you hear cameraman Jared's name mentioned many more times. The second time they had to tell the guys in the Connie to not blow the hell out of everything. And when you see them leave after the fight in the second attempt is how CR wanted it to look. And also with the nice shot of the Idris flying overhead. Really enjoyed watching it both times during the live event though.

I think Chris likes doing his sort of free-form directing of the demo to sorta play up that this isn't any sort of scripted event. This is 100% game footage that we're watching people play and modify and screw up as we go along. Pretty cool IMO.

One of the greatest things about the Star Citizen demos is they don't use super fake acting to demo their product. If this was any other publisher the demo would have been like: Red Leader, good to see you today. Looks like a fine day on this space station, what are the ship stats? Everythings looking good so far Tanto, should we board now or take a look around the space station? No Red Leader, let's board. We have that 5 O'clock Rendezvous with Green Squadron that I don't want to be late for.... We all know that playing the game will never be like that.

Actually this demo made me think about using my oculus rift on it. It wont be so easy since there is a lot of seemless transitions between walking around and sitting in cockpit. While you're sitting down, the VR experience is priceless, but then walking around, it's quite opposite, most people just have motion sickness very quicky. But idea of just Track IR and multiple screen compare to VR is really gray. Also fighting the UI in VR is gonna be an issue, when you are around you friends that they are without VR, they just might be faster to move around and also you cannot see your keyboard and hotas in VR and using voice commands to control your stuff, is nice and cool in single player or when you are solo, but not in situation with more people around.
