I'm sorry but they haven't gone even CLOSE to that far. Don't be fooled by the fact that their graphics are 2 generations old in this video because of the paralyzingly slow game development. This game Demo shows a world that feels alive and living. Current SC may have better graphics, but that just reflects the abysmal pace of game development. Game tech moves faster than CIG's game development.

CapMurd i'm a sore looser and i cant debate? I'm not the one making baseless arguments based on information that doesnt exist. And how can you say the game is not a space sim? It's setting is in space and it's a simulator in some regard. Being a shooter doesnt exclude it from being other genres.
@Benjd010 жыл бұрын
CapMurd What makes it just a shooter? It certainly has shooting elements, but there's a bunch of ships that are specialised in areas and will never really be any good in combat. Exploration ships, salvaging ships, cargo haulers, luxury travel, information runners, mining ships etc. It's no more a 'shooter' than any other space sim that has combat, at least based on their plans, unless you really have been to the future and seen the final game.

Praise this glorious moment! People complaining that it's unoptimized and all that...Well, you have quite literally all the time in the world to improve hardware and software to make all this go smooth (you keep insisting that this is all absurdly early in development, anyway). It's just a matter of patience. I say, keep at it! ":) My biggest criticism, though, is I don't like that one song constantly repeating; the same one that makes me think of battling in Arena Commander. I do not feel it's fitting for a scene as peaceful or slow-paced as this demo video. Not saying slow pacing is bad; just saying the song creates a disconnect in my mind as I feel it doesn't fit. So truth be told, please show us a bit more integration in the music department. Speaking of which, the worker arms near the end almost have this fascinating techno beat to them. It's surprisingly catchy. Although, at the 1 minute mark, there is a hilarious glitch involving stuff phasing through the bulk of the starship! The transition between space and planet is not yet smooth, but I do like the progress in having some transition at all. And for a minor detail, the part of going up the stairs? It's at about 7:15. That part is animated in a way more akin to traditional animating, with a stair-textured slope as opposed to the way someone looks going up stairs; taking a stair or two at a time. Yes, going up actual stairs is more tedious, but I think it belongs in a game fixated on staying as realistic as sci-fi can permit. And that chime that keeps playing in the background? There's something cute about it. :3 One last thing: I *REALLY* want a gear-globe like the one in the main plaza!
@briankirk261410 жыл бұрын
Many do, its just that you never see the people who understand these things (product development life cycle for instance) complaining ;) I sincerely hope they are not trying to force a 2015 release with the scale and scope they have planned. You guys just got a taste of something so detailed that had a lot of love put into it from a company with so many great and passionate Sci-fi fans such as yourselves. Sorry that video games aren't built to your standard, but you just have to learn to appreciate how hard it is to even make games such as this a reality. I'm blown away by how they got a persistent demo in, I wasn't even expecting it. There's much more to come (obviously, open your eyes people) and they will iterate and fix any optimizations needed to make these kind of settings run smoother on general and gaming PCs. You people expect a 5-Star game within such early stages of development and it annoys me to no end, and makes the gaming community (especially for PC) look unforgiving and greedy. I'm 18 years old and haven't been exposed to the great growth of gaming over the past few decades but hell, I am appreciating everything it has to offer because having entertainment like this at my age is breathtaking and I can't wait to see what the PU and SQ42 have in store for us in the future. They have a few studios contracted who are basically dedicated to building these assets, they probably have a lot more at various stages of completion since the Terra landing zone was shown just over a year ago now. I don't understand how people can complain about the issues in this video. Have that many people really forgot that WE are the ones backing the game, WE are the volunteer QA section of CIG. We test their stuff, then give them feedback on how to improve it before release. You all need to stop expecting a flawless game when they present it, that's not the point and the fact your missing what the point really is here is quite upsetting. Internal testing only gets them so far, they need us to do the real testing and give feedback. Early Access gaming is a great way to work on a game while keeping people hyped for it. But people have lost sight of what Early Access means. You're not getting a full game. You are testing aspects of the game to improve them before release. Stop having such high expectations for a blatantly unfinished product. Yes the video lags. Yes the animations aren't perfect. Yes there are alot of aspects about this that aren't perfect. That's where we backers come in. This is to give us a look at our testing platform. Don't complain and feel cheated that it's not what you want. Instead play it, find the issues and mention them in a friendly manner to the devs. You serve no purpose if all you do is complain about the issues and say "This looks dumb, it's not what I wanted, I'm not coming back to the game until it's finished" If that's honestly how you feel, then don't come back at all you are of no help in early access. This game is being made for the community to TEST. You're not here to play, you're here to assist in devlopment until the product is completed. You donate money to assist in the devlopment of the game as a choice. Just because you pay $1,250 for a ship in game doesn't mean that they start devloping the over all game faster. No amount of money changes the speed at which indivdual people can work. Early Access also demands patientce. Alot of you need to learn how to have that. TL;DR: Stfu and be happy you have what you have.

This is a very impressive demonstration of the technology in Star Citizen and I love it. My main complaint is that someone recorded a gameplay video with fields?!!! and then forgot to deinterlace it before uploading it to youtube. Really strange.

I like the level of details in the landing zone. Awesome! I don't like the cut-scene, and don't need to see it every time i land. Are they gonna implement actual gameplay planetary landing in the game, or what?

Haha, it's a bit unintuitive with the cargo. Guy parks, opens the cargo hold. Radio in the background says "Arccorp is not responsible for unsecured cargo". Player walks away from his open cargo hold, and sees two fully geared guys walking up to his cargo hold. Radio says "Unattended cargo will be confiscated." Guy walks into the building, while the two men in suits continue to stand around his ship and open trunk. That said, everything else about this demo was extremely impressive.

I wasn't expecting the comments to be so pessimistic. Apparently making sure the character walks exactly right is the primary concern of the audience. As if it won't get changed in the next two years leading up to the release. Well fuck you, I'm excited.

The visuals are just stunning at this early stage. I wonder whether there will be (for example) exploring missions where you can land manually, not the whole process from the outer space, but just manually bring the ship to the ground. like flying over an area and be like 'hmm maybe I should land on that specific hill'

At the time I'm writing this there is only 8 haters that just seem to have a lot to say so don't let their negativity fool you. Tons of Star Citizens are really excited about what this video means and only those who have been following the game actually know that CIG is just showing us a glimpse of how landing planetside will look in it's pre-alpha state. Those who don't say anything but just give the video their likes probably don't say anything because they don't need to.

With an estimated 2 years to a full release, this is amazing! Player animations could use a bit of work, but wow I want to go to Arccorp. This is awesome!
