Oh how Any% has changed in such a short time. It's cool to think that this run took place right before the Any% changed forever. They knew barrier skip was possible just not how to do it consistently.

The trick at 1:29:30, the instant death trick for that plant boss, has completed my life. I'm mildly disappointed in the fact that no one there commented on the notation of the magic ball slashy-bouncy tennis-dodgeball, which is called "Dead Man's Volley." In Phantom Hourglass, it's actually explicitly called as such for the first time in-game. Phantom Gannon's (not Puppet Ganon's) Sword is a meta-material object of potent illusory force, much like Phantom Ganon itself, yet oddly, apparently independent of PG's presence. As such, it has strange interactions that don't follow the conventions of ordinary, material physics when encountering other objects of such dark magic. That "brick wall" is a wall of Ganon's magic, not bricks, so when you throw the sword at it, the explosive result is as close to sensible as we can get. You can think of the two objects colliding as a catalyst to them disappearing in a "poof of logic," but in a flashier, more violent manner. I don't have a citation for this because my explanation is more detailed than the bits that I read initially, and I don't recall exactly where I read the initial bits, but I will say that I'm fairly confident that this is the canon explanation. Honestly, I always found it fascinatingly creepy how the devs conjured this whole matter of illusory metaphysics and wondered, "Would Phantom Ganon be destroyed outright if slashed with its own sword?"

They really should just know what the 3 highest names are beforehand when they're setting up, then just make the names of all the files each of the names. Then when one wins, just select that file.
@Colenolli7 жыл бұрын
But with save warping, it takes time to select the file rather than rapidly tapping A as soon as the file select screen shows up. That's why with Zelda speedruns, they almost never choose any file other than the first one.

I wish Nintendo went ahead to make a Swedish translation to most modern games, since Sweden is a pretty large & well populated country.
@kilic_7 жыл бұрын
they really dont need to, most people in sweden speak english very well
@AlbiTheShroom7 жыл бұрын
True, but playing mario games with a translation of your language makes it more fun & interesting imo.
@GuggieG7 жыл бұрын
Yea... Pretty large & well populated, Sweden is under 10 million. I don't know if you know Belgium, but we are literally 0,067% of Sweden, if measured by surface. We also have more than 10 million people in our country. So a Swedish translation seems like a bad investment for Nintendo.
@elloo987 жыл бұрын
Guggie Population density has nothing to do with it, if it did no game ever would be translated into russian, but I agree that a Swedish translation would be unnecessary, English is one of the three subjects you have got to have passing grades in in order to continue studies so everyone is forced to be good at English here in Sweden.
@GuggieG7 жыл бұрын
I know it's not really related but it was in response to him saying "pretty large & well populated" Glad we agree and don't go for each other's throats.

This was a great run. Is Barrier Skip consistent enough to use in marathons now? If so, I would love to see Linkus do it at one of next year's events.
@TompaA7 жыл бұрын
Barrier Skip itself is easy and consistent, the problem is the Fairy Hover before the Ganondorf fight, which is some stupid randomness you can't do anything about... Linkus and Fuzzyness had a race during ESA17 where Linkus came up to the Fairy Hover, failed a lot of times and eventually had to stop the race, Fuzzy got stuck on an earlier point.

The Italian script has the fewest characters in any European language, so it scrolls by the fastest. The Japanese version has fewer characters, so it was the fastest in SD, but the text speed for non-Japanese languages was increased in the HD version to compensate for that fact.

It would be something like 1 minute faster, but it only saves time if you can get it first try. And because it is RNG dependant, speedrunners don't go for it, it would be too reset-heavy.
