One thing I hate with this game is that you don't unlock anything by collecting all the shine sprites.

No. In galaxy you get extra levels and extra endings. In 64 you get ability to fly.

At 10 shine sprites you unlock pinna park. At 20 shine sprites you unlock Noki Bay. At 30 and 35 you unlock the rocket and turbo nozzles respectively. Also you unlock Gelato Beach and Ricco Harbor at 2 and 3 shines respectively

SMS has so much to offer both casually and especially in speedrunning: Tons of movement options and little exploitable stuff coupled with a few bigger glitches (but no gamebreaking ones) to keep the watcher entertained. Add this couch and those runners and you got yourself an excellent run. Loved it! The Unadulterated Dolphin, Thanks for the tip, but I watched it already :P That was in the time that Shesez was still a small channel lol. Crazy how fast it has grown. Anyway, I know how to do the trick on emulator myself. I've studied and compared these models many many times, so that's not my point. I was just curious if you can break trough every invisible wall in the game with the purple Yoshi glitch, and have Mario appear in the backgrounds instead of just a camera with glitched out water and heat effects.

Serena's Braixen, True, but that means it's very clever how they made it look like the entire island is rendered at all times. The illusion is rarely broken. Only when you go up close you see the terrible textures and missing polygons of course :P Wouldn't it be awesome, if the Switch got a version where the whole island is rendered at all times?? And you could go anywhere you want?

Check out The Eggbuster, he does lots of glitches on his channel and is super funny with a great personality. He did this Sunshine out of bounds glitch and tried to get to the rendered models.
