You should probably have a thing where you can attack the keys to knock the Æmber out so it’s more interactive. It also makes it so minions are actual threats. So like, maybe a key has 20 health (the minions do so much damage LUL) and when it dies it discards the Æmber inside.
@DarkBunnyLord6 жыл бұрын
Sirconol the game can already run for 30+ minutes that would extend it waaaaay to much. Minions are a threat as is, they can kill your other creatures, allow your opponent to reap and gain a bunch of aember, steal your aember, discard cards from your hand etc. Don’t mistake not having a life total as minions not being a threat, if your opponent plays a bunch of creatures and you don’t you’re almost guaranteed to loose, and fast. They’re vital to both gaining aember and showing your opponent from doing the same.

Seems like a strange concept. is card art re-used then? is there a limited print? seems a pretty broad claim. surely a lot of cards will have sameish abillities to compensate for the fact that they are "Unique". Really strange Seems like a massive gimmick game.
@velrex81406 жыл бұрын
So there are multiple prints of the same cards, but the whole concept is that there are no decks(consisting of 36 cards) that are the exact same as another. So while your deck may have the same houses as mine(Example: Dis, Shadow, Mars), mine will have a different set of 12 cards from each of those houses than yours, and the chances of your deck even being 35/36 cards similar to mine are astronomically low.
@DarkBunnyLord6 жыл бұрын
Lord Fudge Packer Mc Gooberson Wby would card art need to be re-used? There are 7 houses, each with their own cards. You get 3 random houses with 12 (mostly random, algorithm makes sure everything is useable) cards from each house. On top of this there are “mavericks” (very rare) which basically are a card that might normally be from one house belonging to another. Your total combination of 36 cards is different than anyone else’s. Like the above poster said, you might have a deck with 35 of the 36 cards another player does but the odds even then are insanely low.
@AStrategyGameDev6 жыл бұрын
@@DarkBunnyLord @Christopher. I doubt you guys care, But I was under the imppression that the cards where also "Unique" but if the cards are the same, then there is no gimmick. A deck is just a large booster pack. Effectively
@DarkBunnyLord6 жыл бұрын
Lord Fudge Packer Mc Gooberson There is a gimmick, no one will ever have the same deck as you and unlike a booster pack all the cards are functional together. In a booster pack for say magic you might get cards that just don’t work together especially if you buy enough to make a whole deck, in this nearly everything you get in a deck synergizes or combos in other ways because an algorythem builds the deck, not just a random printing of cards like you’d get opening enough boosters to mash a deck together. It would be impossible to make all cards themselves unique especially with unique card art no artist would be payed enough let alone being payed like a penny a card if that.
@splinte1116 жыл бұрын
it seems super underpowered to go first. Sure you draw an extra card but you risk loosing the battlefield really fast.

i dont think you can call that from just this video
@MrShukaku19916 жыл бұрын
Not getting to ready your things at the end of your first turn if you go first would be far more balanced. You get the initial swarm with an extra card, but that swarm can't be used right away, without other supports on turn 2
@datonkallandor86876 жыл бұрын
Going first mostly exists to give you a bettter mulligan and also lets you set up for big turns by putting down an artifact as your 1-card turn 1. Especially Mars really loves having their artifacts on the board BEFORE you say Mars and actually play things (because Mars has a lot of "reveal mars cards in hand" triggers)
@DarkBunnyLord6 жыл бұрын
Eh kind of? You get to play less but unless you opponent is playing bronbar (who tend to get to attack fast) most houses won’t be able to play on their first turn even if you go second. The nice part of going first is typically you’ll be the first player to activate/reap/ or attack.

@nobodynowhere216 жыл бұрын
This is a made up word, your existing understanding regarding pronunciation may not apply -- so according to what or to whom are you informing us how this is "actually" pronounced? And I'm sure you're right in regard to the general use of Æ. However, there is a Designer Journal from late September on FFG's website that describes the journey this resource went through from "gems" to "amber" but then ultimately branding the spelling as "Æmber" as a design decision. Further, Richard Garfield himself recently posted last week in the BGG forum clarifying that he himself calls Æmber "Amber" (or just "gems" which is the original name). Whatever the technical use or pronunciation of Æ may be, the spelling and pronunciation of this word is a creative and a branding decision so we shouldn't overthink it.
@rosie80596 жыл бұрын
@@nobodynowhere21 It's pronounced that way because that's how the fucking letter Æ is pronounced.
@nobodynowhere216 жыл бұрын
@@rosie8059 Naturally we'll call it whatever we like. It's just not how the developer nor the publisher nor anyone else officially associated with the product seems to be calling "Æmber" which is what we're explicitly referring to now. And I'm sure we can agree that mangling the pronunciation of the word as a cute branding decision was a silly idea that was bound to cause confusion as evidenced by this very comments section. But many players have an interest in how the resource will be actually called in official and tournament settings, and really won't care how it is technically "supposed" to be pronounced, so it is only fair and natural to mention the official intent. Very simple. I'm now going to play a game with my husband and in your honor I"m going to call the resource "Fuckings" and when I reach 6 Fuckings I will forge a "FucKey" 3 FucKey's for a win!

Have to say- It was entertaining, but I'm not really impressed with this game at all. Although the House play mechanic is interesting and the simple resource tracking is refreshing, a complete lack of card cost makes cards extremely powerful and much better than others as there's no real downside attached to them. Shield of Faith seems ridiculous when the defender cannot stop the attacker from destroying their creatures, when in Magic you could at least let creatures through to avoid boardwipe, but in this format it's essentially a removal spell. The combat mechanics and keywords are interesting, but again, it seems pointless without a resource like life to protect. There's no real risk or sacrifice, just beating up your opponent's board without them having any input and vice-versa. It's not interactive, and it isn't lightweight enough for that to be quick. The art is very nice, but the _text,_ holy hell, the flavour text is *awful.* Names, too, a lot of the names and even the Houses sound awkward and improvised, like as if they're trying to mimic Magic but without any understanding of what makes it pop. It simply detracts from the experience when the flavour text is just a mangled commonly used phrase or idiom. So yeah, can't say I'd like to see more of this game, at least not without some major tinkering. But regardless- I'm always happy to see this channel upload something new.

You're comparing it to MTG, which it really isnt trying to go for. It's more akin to deck building games such as star realms, with the procedurally generated decks taking the place of mid-game deck building.

Rando on the internet trying to be critical about game design vs. Richard Garfield. Hmm. Wonder which one knows more about that. All your comments can be summed up as "The mechanics don't work like magic's, so they're not as good". The combat mechanics bit in particular - the point isn't to diminish your opponents resources, it's to maximise yours. You can use each creature to gather the aember instead of attacking, thus if you can kill your opponents board without losing yours you can generate more aember on later turns.
@Betuor6 жыл бұрын

I think the OP communicated their opinions respectfully, and I would appreciate it the people who reply do so as well. I think peoples thoughts on this game are really interesting. I want to see how quickly/often snowball effect develops resulting in a forgone win. I have seen enough MTGs become lopsided early due to luckily cards. It would be great if this game allowed opponent to handle runaway games with anticipatable strategies. Sort of like in sumo, where being bigger and pushing harder can be exploited by anyone, not just people with a pre-made build/deck designed to do just that.

I think the procedual generated decks seem quite cool but it has really bad issues like: Completely unbalanced decks and a meta based on random chance Samey Bullshit as all the meta decks will be the exact same as decks are form based. Zak Saturday Each deck has a picture and name tied directly to an archon card that comes with each deck printed on the back of them and the archons unique name on the front. The archon card also contains a deck list. So it’s not really possible to cheat like that.
@DarkBunnyLord6 жыл бұрын
Adam Chu Balance is pretty simple, the algorithm keeps you from getting to many rare cards. Similarly the mechanics make it so you constantly need to be choosing different houses so even if you have a powerful combo trying to focus on it will make you loose by missing out on being able to use the other 2/3rds of your deck. There’s also something called a chain system in place that lets player look at their opponents deck and bid chains. Whoever bids the most chains before conceding gets to play the deck of their choice. The more chains they bided the more gimped they are on card draw. So if your opponents deck really is stronger you can play it instead for a cost, if they outbid you enough you can let them play it while being gimped.

I think it's kinda fair to have this scripted as it's a tutorial. It's only like how in most video game versions of card games introduce you to the game with a completely scripted game, where the opponent always draws and plays the exact same cards so you can win easy. So I wouldn't be surprised if they'd completely set up their decks and what they were going to play (other than Ben putting that one card down on the wrong flank). It at least ensures they can fully show the basic principles of the game and how it works in a knowledgable way, rather than umming and ahhing
