When this all went down I was really angry GameSpot user. Now as a GameSpot staff member and Whiskey Media subscriber, I can't tell you how excited I am to have Jeff, Ryan, Vinny, Brad, Alex, Dave and the rest of them back on board. Exciting times for Giant Bomb and GameSpot. I hope people can now understand what happened in the past, and trust GameSpot once more.

+TrueGamerXXV A business does everything for money reasons. that's why they're called a business. Don't get confused about that. Jeff does everything he does for money reasons as well. He just thinks that integrity as a games journalist leads to better money opportunities than the alternative.
@RobRIPDG7 жыл бұрын
That is not true. Being a sellout fuck face will make you heaps more money than being honest. Look at rooster teeth, they're complete two faced fucks and they're doing much better than giant bomb. Jeff is just lucky he can continue to do the thing he loves while getting paid.

Credit to Jeff for being pretty balanced in how he presented what went down. I guess it wouldn't have been cool to rip into them tho. A good video, they answered a lot of questions. I'm still slightly intrigued though about CBS' reasons for the purchase, ie what does Giant Bomb have that Gamespot doesn't, and is the purchase something of an admission that GS is lacking something?

I used to be a strong user at gamespot due to the well written reviews and personalities of the reviewers. When they left so have I because what made that site work was the personalities of the reviewers. Gaintbomb would not be what is today without the great personalities of Jeff, Ryan, Alex, and Vinney...it seems that this "merger" is essential to Giant Bomb's survival as a company so in that respect I can't blame them but to support them since I love their content.

I'm glad to see Jeff could get this out finally. I remember when this happened like it was yesterday and my experience with Gamespot has not been the same. Whoa! What a surprise to see Jeff in GameSpot. Seeing him in this video is like he never left the site before. I actually loved the old GameSpot rating system. It was a brilliant idea to rate a game based on gameplay, graphics, sounds, replay value and tilt (overall score). It was an amazing concept and to this day, I still rate games using that system. It's sad that GameSpot no longer use that scoring system anymore. Those were good times.

This is awesome news but the other news to me was that John Davison got with Gamespot in 2010. I remember back when he was I believe editor in chief for Electronic Gaming Monthly? It's harder to google than you'd think. He needs to make a wiki on his achievments, especially if he aided in killing Gamepro (hated that magazine!). Also I want to know if new EGM is even worth subscribing to since it seems like the old crew is completely unaffiliated. Miss those 400+ pages of greatness.

11:30 WOW, that's a deep cut. Jeff has an incredible memory for the dogshit dime-a-dozen games that came out for the PSX back in the mid-to-late nineties. VMX Racing was an ugly, barely-playable mess, one of many that clogged the bilge pipe of that great system...the thought of some publicist feeling compelled to go to bat over a bad review of it is pretty damn funny.

You people do realize that the websites are completely different right? Giantbomb is the exact same. If the guys are to be believed (they are) the users will barely notice a difference in content. They were just bought by gamespots parent company. And to people wondering why Jeff is trusting CBS now... CBS didn't fire him in the first place. Gamespot and GiantBomb... Two completely different websites with different staff.

@jmart2k My hope is that this constitutes Jeff marching into gamespot like Ceaser with his army into Rome. He seems pretty jazzed about it and has already said that part of the deal is that Giantbomb retains full creative and editorial control, and that he'd not agree to any deal which didn't ensure that, so as weird as this move seems I'm inclined to trust him.

@ivg1979 As well, the man who owned Whiskey Media is a venture capitalist. The very definition is they build a brand up and then sell it to the highest bidder. If you have been following Jeff and co for this long, you should really know the nitty-gritty of how their brains work by now, especially if you watch Jar Time. You should realize that this has been negotiated for months. Do you really think any of them would have agreed to come along with the site unless they had complete control?
