Problem is there’s no carryover from game to game: they fumbled Zakhaev, fumbled killing Shepherd & now are suddenly introducing Makarov. Part of what made the payoff cool in the OG was seeing how he was behind the Nuke in CoD4 & all the ties he had to MW2/3. Here they took the quickest route & are relying on nostalgia vs. building a proper trilogy. I mean what even happened to Farah’s bro?

They fumbled Zakhaev imo as well, but at least they tried to deliver a concise continuation of the story from the mw19 campaign. Mw22 on the other hand really was the biggest wasted potential in the franchise’s history - solid campaign, but since they were two busy introducing new BR map every season, they weren’t able to tie the story with the new instalment through some continuity as in the previous game.

The marketing for this game I think fails to do it justice. They make it seem like "just another remake" when in fact it's far, far better than the game it is inspired by originally.
