It is a mystery to me how mouseclick to move has remained the standard in this genre for so long. It made sense for the first Diablo as it was basically a last minute conversion from turn based tactical rpg but after that I always thought it was a no-brainer that ARPG's should transition to WASD movement method. Glad GGG finally made it an option.

Plus the combat is so clear, diablo 4 is a clusterfuk. You have to turn on that monster health bar to see. Which ruins immersion.

It only makes sense now because we have mice that can bind all skills Wasd would be massive hinderence if you still need to use abilities with keyboard just like in mmo games

@@mekal177 Not really, most ARPG's have only slightly more skills than most modern FPS hero shooters. Take this gameplay for example, you can keep 1-5 for pots and only need 5 keys for skills outside of left/middle/right mouse click. 4 are easily achieved with Q, E, R and F with the 5th able to be put on any of the bottom row, Ctrl or G/T depending on preference (edit: oh and Shift as the even more obvious option). That isn't even accounting for the two thumb buttons most mouse have as well. It's really no different to games like ESO that manage similiar keybinds fine with bar-switching mechanics as well.

Shame that game developers failed us, it really should have been ESDF but millennials mostly jumped on the WASD train. Still good that they added it, and I'd probably use ESDF as long as those can be changed.

@@m.h.4907 I thought about it but I prefer the style of gameplay I see in POE2 trailers, POE 1 just seems to be a lot of button mashing. I don't even mind the large skill trees and stats but in POE1 it doesn't feel like all of that means anything if you're just zooming through everything.

The art style is one of the thing I love most in PoE. And PoE2 took it to the next level. Also not a single unnecessary text appear while fighting. Some other dev should take a note on that.

@@dud5606 Well actually, almost all ARPG have the function to turn off combat & dialogue text even in D4. But players love to look at big numbers pops up, so it is enabled by default. same as the gameplay here.

I got Diablo IV, sank a ton of time into it (maybe it's just because I have a blast co-opping with my pal). Now looking at this gameplay, I don't know if I can get back to D4 anymore. The dev seem to put so much love in both the game and the presentation of it, in contrast to the shameless cashshop which is only meant to placate the shareholders in D4. Blizzard couldn't even bother putting a sword-and-board class (which is the basic of the basic in any RPG) in the base roster.

This clearly shows the difference between when devs actually are fans of the game they are making and know its mechanics and its predecessors strong points and improve on them. Rather then Diablo 4 devs who couldn’t explain their own game well and the mechanics and why they made drastic changes to their game for the negative against their fans wishes from the previous games. I have always been a major Diablo fan more then POE and still play them although was not a fan of d4 and much rather keep playing D2R. But this game looks far better and cared for then d4. This looks like something I would sink tons of hours into and enjoy playing. So this may be in my opinion a true successor to D2. While being more complex and in depth. I am seriously excited for this game with each new video they put out showing it off.

I'm super glad they are moving away from the ultra fast paced gameplay of running around exploding the screen to a much more tactical, soulslike and slow paced gameplay. Hope this remains true in the end game. For fans of the fast paced approach, PoE1 will always be there: win-win.

They Finally made ranged classes viable in these types of games. I've always thought "what is the point in playing a ranged class if the enemies can quickly close the distance between themselves and your character?" Being able to move while firing looks great and fun to play!!

Love the focus on class identity and fluent, varied combat. One thing I'd love to see is less restriction on camera focus most importantly angle, but I assume there is some technical limitation there as no ARPG offers this

This mercenary basically is a rogue/archer etc and we have had many of the abilities in d2 but i find it challenging to work some of what I see in. Explosion radius ✅ cold stuff hmm bit tougher but we can do something’s similar

Clicking for movement is just annoying long term, so I've been using a key press for movement a long time. It's not was free as wasd, but much easier than holding/clicking the lmb, and so the left click can be a special attack, etc.
