@@Beemerbmr That was the line that did it for me as well. Her delivery of that line worked on so many levels. She didn't say 'you offend me' because she realized Mickey was right. Mickey wasn't going to be poor for much longer. He really was rising to her level but she wanted to remind him of where he still was at that moment. And the way she sighed signaled she was disappointed to be losing control over him.

My theory is that the secret ingredient in the "Muse" drug is siren blood. Sirens are so good at their craft of singing that no one can resist, they exist to drown and devour sailors. Not to mention the little details like the doorknocker of the chemist, people being ready to sell their humanity to get what they desire, similar to a certain little mermaid being ready to do anything to be human, and an Ursula wanting to trick "poor unfortunate souls" into signing her contract. ;) Moreover, in mythology sirens are also known as the children of muses, goddesses of art, and I just came across another clue (maybe)- Doris was an "Oceanid" in Greek myth, or ocean nymph/demi-goddess.

I'll have to rewind the episode and screen shot it I guess. EDIT: I went ahead and looked at the door knocker and for sure it's either a mermaid/siren. It will be interesting how they play this out.

YES! This is personally my theory about the secret ingredient as well and would also explain the sharp teeth in all the teasers and what the characters get done themselves, as if their instinct is turning more towards the nature of sirens and that's why they sharpen their teeth. I also think that with the alien picture for part 2 of the season we might be looking at a connection between the sirens and aliens.

I’m totally enjoying this season. I have no idea which direction the writer is going. Every season I think I’m going to figure it out before the latter part of the series but it never fails I don’t figure it out until it’s right in my face, total opposite in my real life which throws me off because I normally figure things out in life way before the result is the result lol. I hear you were right quite often but I’m never right when it comes to AHS. The only disappointment this week is the mom only had a very small role this episode and the fact that we only got one episode this week. They spoiled us last week with two and snatched our candy away from us the very next week by only giving us one episode lol. AHS are treating us like we’re Alma (a kid) lol. I absolutely love me some AHS totally entertaining and enjoyable.

I don't know why I'm not seeing enough comments about this, but I'm going to toss out my theory here because I'm convinced I'm on to something. We know there's mermaids and aliens, and this series is a two part series ft one then the other. Why is no one asking if the sirens and the legends of them is based of of some sort of aqueous alien. Some of the biggest and continued complaints of the series is that we've never really had a satisfying alien storyline, so what if that's what the showrunners are hoping to surprise us with a payoff to that. Asylum has several water themes- the hydrotherapy shown, and expiremental nature of the doctor's could have been the basis for what the chemist uses for the black pill. The aliens were confused for god or angels, and that was a super important theme for Ryan, so subverting them for mermaids makes complete sense. The need for the amount of death and suffering, blood could have been gathered for the 'sirens'. Madness is often also denoted as a side effect to the sirens call, and Roanoke could have also been influenced by these aliens that became the sirens of myth. Aliens have also been seen as muses in current times, inspiring and providing tech to ancient civilizations. Further themes that suggest a possibility. I think the agent is right and that's been aliens all along, and that's the big reveal of ahs' last season. I wouldn't be surprised if alma is a family name and these could be generations later of kits family, a family that has been suggested in multiple seasons including apocalypse theories that it would set up an asylum crossover. It makes sense if the aliens are interested in what seems to be kits family line and has been following them through time and watching them for something. The second half will likely be the government finding it out or hiding it before the events of perhaps apocalypse or after the reset and the series is in the future. It'd be a wild ride if all of ahs' was an alien research project and none of us realized.

As more and more evidence of interstellar visitations comes out, it's becoming clearer that if Earth has already been colonized (which is pretty certain), it would have been in the oceans. And 'ancient' civilizations? Current civilizations is more right. In less than a century we went from horse drawn carriages and writing paper letters to visiting other planets and carrying computers in our pockets.

Doris did a bait and switch. Watch it again. Both before she falls down the steps and again after while she is at the bottom of the steps, she looks at Alma. Alma just recently told her she was a bad mother and there wasn’t a whole lot of reason for her being around. She fell to be a distraction and take the spotlight of the cops off Alma. And put it on getting an ambulance to get her to the hospital. Seriously, rewind and watch that segment again.

My thing is every time AHS adds some sort of enhancement, vampire living forever, some sort of power, now the pills where is Fiona this whole time? She was the supreme seeking all of these things and never came across any of them?? I know that season was written prior to all of these but they just seem so convenient for her to find.

If you look up Adina Porter on imdb, she is credited with appearances in three more episodes of AHS: Double Feature as Chief Burleson, so we haven't seen the last of her yet. Whether she comes back in flashbacks, a different form, or whatever....YES please to more of Adina any way we can get her.

I think the chemist's pills are her dried blood and she doesn't want to scale up because it would put her at risk of exposure for what she is, which I think is some type of sea muse that nurtures creativity, and could also put her health at risk to try to make so many pills. What her motivation is I don't know, but that could be why the formula is proprietary and if she goes it goes.

I've had this theory that Doris was once on the muse pill and thats how she won the contest but since she stopped taking it, she can't creatively function anymore. And I think something will happen with her baby, like the baby is born a blood sucker or something like that.
