Ok as someone who worked at gamestop for a few years, the employee part is 100% true 😂 We had really strict rules we had to follow, we HAD to ask for ID if someone was buying a rated M game, and if it was a parent buying it for their kid, we had to be like "it's M for Mature because of violence/sexual themes/etc, is that ok?" Most of the time the parents didnt care and we'd sell it to them no prob. Annoying to enforce that policy, but we could be fired for selling an M game to a minor. I think gamestop just didnt wanna get sued if a parent complained that we had sold little Timmy a "Mature" game 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Yeah, we can get fired if we don't check ID for rated M sales, and we get secret shoppers who look around 18 whose whole purpose is to report is we asked for ID when buying an M-rated game.

I once went to pick up a Xbox game for my cousins birthday and stood there for about 15 minutes deciding on one. I don’t know shit about Xbox and assumed any disk would work so I asked the employee after talking to myself about it for 15 minutes. He immediately said “No that doesn’t work, it’s a digital only console.” He could have told me that 15 minutes ago.

11 years ago, me and my brother bought a game at Gamestop, and when the employee was looking for the disc, he coughed into his fist while holding the game case. We didn't say anything to him, but MY GOD, did he not know how to cough into his fucking elbow?! After we bought the game, we were pretty sure he contaminated the case with his germs without noticing, so we obviously went home, got a clorox wipe, and wiped the case.
