One of the best looks at the Mario Timeline I've seen, my only questions are: what about the Mario VS. Donkey Kong series? Primarily Tipping Stars. There is a crucial piece of the puzzle that you're missing and it's so bad...you can call it the smoking gun. Forget about Mario stepping on Luigi's foot after a tennis tournament...I want you to turn on any copy of Super Mario Brothers 3 and watch the little skits before the demo starts. You will see Mario get his racoon tail and send a turtle shell hurtling at Luigi. Remember, these things are deadly when they make contact. He quite literally tries to maime Luigi at the start of the game. There is nothing brotherly about that at all...

My theory is that Jumpman and the Pauline from the original DK games actually had _3_ children: Mario, Luigi, and Pauline the 2nd. That would explain how Pauline can be both Jumpman's girlfriend in the OG games and Mario's damsel in distress in the modern games. To add even more to this, in the OG DK games, Pauline is wearing a pink dress and has orange hair, meanwhile Pauline in the modern games wears red clothing and has brown hair, adding to the idea that they're not the same person.

Luigi and Peach's relationship was founded on pettiness, but no one else needed to know that, so they kept up the charade of a happy couple and went swinging on the weekends.

I mean, there is also the theory of the Starbomb song "Luigi's Ballad", that of Mario being an overly aggressive, in-your-face guy when coming on to Peach, while Luigi is a lot more noticably sensitive. Now, even though we don't hear from Daisy, we could simply believe the idea that Peach (who chooses Toad at the end), just wants something different for a change, but eventually gives in to her own thoughts of Luigi being a sensitive shoulder to cry on. In this timeline, we could also tack on the idea that Mario catches Daisy on the rebound, making these relationships all make sense.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 probably takes place not long after Luigi’s Mansion 2. Same goes for 3D world with Bowser’s Fury. Sparks of Hope, while not out, likely takes place after Galaxy 2. I have a solution to the Mario odyssey problem. In the game Mario vs. Donkey kong: Minis March again for the ds, we see what looks like the current day Pauline getting kidnapped once again by what looks like current day donkey kong. This would completely fix the timeline, as this means that current day Pauline is the daughter of a the older pauline and jumpman. This also suprisingly means that current-day Pauline is actually current-day Mario's sister. That puts Minis March again at the beginning of the adult era, and Mario Odyssey after 3D land and 3D world

SourceRabbit I haven't played the second yet, but I've read the comics before the launch. About the first one, which I completed about 3 times (them achievements) was kinda straight forward..... There are two "endings" the normal one where you complete all of the jobs and kill the mafia boss or whatever, and the other one, an alternative timeline where the biker survives the encounter with "you" the protagonist, searching for the root of those calls. If you collected the password ("iwasbornintheusa") you'll understand a lot about their practises. It's kinda stupid (it probably has a lot more to it) but they're just a bunch of nationalist psychopaths who targeted... psychopaths, to do they're dirty work. Metin Kilic well first note is.. it probably shoudl be "game hypothesis" but that doens't sound very fun (theories are proven reprovable and 100% reproducable). like theory of gravity vs the hyptothesis of what black holes are) so some people who are bit word snobby are annoyed by that. Since techinally these are closer to hypothesis. but on topic (and i'll use theory since thats what he uses) I think most people pointing things out aren't doing it wit venom. (though undoubtly some are. internet being the internet). Most are pointing it out to grow the theory and to hear feedback if possible. Thats how theories work you gain more perspective and more information and you redfine the theory. by pointing out things that people feel are missing it allows further research to be done on it. Most people are just listing points left out, they aren't insulting him. This is the process of theory/hypothesis development. Which given the name of his show, and his previous actions is exactly what he wants. A discussion on the topics presented in order to expand and grow thoughts. Hell this video's content was likely inspired by a few thoughts or points people ushed around for previous mario videos, tossed in Matt's brain through his and the other 2's more vast knowledege forming into this theory. Discourse brings forth ideas. While not all discourse is pleasent all discourse is useful for the creative process. It's just a matter of tuning and focusing it into something good. Well no not really. The Mario in that game very well could be the same old pappy "Jumpman" we see in the old Donkey Kong games. The simple solution to the issue is that the graphics in those games are updated to modern specifications showing more detail and revealing to us how these characters would actually look outside of 8-bits. The continuity of the looks of the characters? Well it isn't uncommon for people to say that sons are the "spitting images" of their fathers so the striking resemblance between this "father" Mario and his "son" Mario from the later games is pretty feasible. But what about Luigi? Why doesn't he also greatly favor papa "Jumpman"? Well it could simply be that he takes more after his mother. You know, taller, but certainly the one who is the less brave and less heroic of the two parents. It's also possible that Donkey Kong's tie is passed down through his familt line as an heirloom, it would be a bit difficult for us humans to tell gorillas apart simply by looks anyway, so his resemblance to his grandson from the later games in the timeline is also feasible. This is one of MatPat's only Mario theory videos that I think is actually feasible and solid.

Koopa Neotroopa consider if you will the fact that the worlds were separated in galaxy and in odyssey they all seem to have been united once more as we are now exploring different kingdoms and not different worlds, In the video about Rosalina being luigis daughter, he said she created a new universe where all the worlds were connected as one, which could only be possible if it occurred after she did so And you said it doesn't make sense but it is not unlike someone with little sense of remorse, or willingness to care about others (i.e. Bowser) to leave well enough alone after he failed, maybe in his mind peach is still his bride and he's just holding her until she's ready, a lot of cop dramas, soap operas, and lifetime movies have had stories like this where people just can't let that special someone go, even if that person was never theirs to have

Mario oddesey only has one logical place in the timeline. between galaxy and galaxy 2. the cycle resets with slight differences, this difference being that pauline exists at a later time. the timeline in that cycle is messed up because fragments of the previous cycle still exist (memories, people, ect.). since most species in the galaxy are on one planet now, there isn't much thought put into space travel, but flying around the planet is still desirable, hense the oddesey. It's only when the oddesey is pushed to it's limits (massive amount of power) that it can make it to the moon (not the rest of the universe). Mario galaxy 2 shows the same cycle, but farther in time when space travel is more viable. I't nowhere near rosalinas tech, but still space travel (notice how the starship mario has a more normal engine while the observatory runs off of a contained star (stretching the fabric of space to get ridiculously close to light speed)) . pauline is the correct age in this new cycle, mario and his crew are remnants of the previous cycle that were just worked into the universe, and the timeline still works.

So here's a thought for a possible theory. Exactly how powerful is a Chaos Emerald? I mean a single emerald can power a plane and allow for space/time manipulation, 6 of them concentrated into a cannon is enough to blow up half of the moon, and supposedly all 7 in the same cannon could destroy the whole earth.... Just how much energy can be pulled from a single emerald at any one time, and in what ways do they interact with each other... It's been awhile since there was a sonic theory not involving speed after all

I couldn't exactly be as specific as the main man Matpat, but if all 7 emeralds concentrated can destroy Earth, that requires a certain amount of force. It's somewhere in the quadrillions of tonnes or so, I think. Then you just... divide that by 7 and work out how many tonnes of destructive force each emerald has.

Fredrik Ljungkvist Here is my exclamation of the Paper Mario Games and the Spinoffs (Kart, Baseball, Golf, etc) In Paper Mario, Luigi's dairy states that he misses the days when they went go-karting and playing golf with his brother. Which means that all of the golf and karting games came before this game. And we know that SPM came after the first two Paper Marios because of that small pictures of the partners from the previous games. As for PMSS, in the Egnimansion,(I hope I spelled that correctly) when Mario turns around and sees the Boo, he gets freaked out. Which means that he has never seen a Boo before. And the Boo's first appearance was in SMB3. Which means that PMSS came before SMB3. But wait, Bowser JR is in the game, so that's impossible! Or, the fact that the "new" galaxy came so that Mario completely forgot about Boos and various other things. Which means that this takes place between SMG and SMG2. But where do the other three Paper Marios and the spinoff games come in? Sometime after PiT, the adult perspective. Why? Well, how else would the babies be able to time travel forward in time to go go-karting with their adult selfs? So, here is my new timeline. Fredrik Ljungkvist It's hard to say. But the last two ones could really be after Mario's adventures end in this timeline and he decides to try random jobs sometimes, and the party and sports and kart games could also fit in this possibility. Paper Mario though, very hard to imagine where it goes.

The timeline still holds up when Odyssey is put after Captain Toad, and between Galaxy 1 and Galaxy 2. Although, this timeline dismantles Mario being an adulterer, and makes both Mario and his dad animal abusers, (sorta). The Pauline in Odyssey talks about how Mario saved her from Donkey Kong, but this is a reference to the Mario vs DK games. There's also a theory that this Pauline is Mario and Luigi's sister, being named after their mom as Mario was named after their father.

Of course Nintendo didn't intend this, and it isn't canon, but it makes, or at least, made, the most sense from a lore prespective, even if, from an IRL prespective, it obviously wasn't intended. That's pretty much this show's MO when it comes to lore theories.

MatPat's admitted himself multiple times that of course he doesn't think many of his theories were what was originally intended by the creators (For an example, see the intro of his FMA Value of a Human Soul vid on Film Theory. He says it himself there), but it did, at least in my opinion (And most others', judging by the like to dislike ratio) tell an interesting and relatively plausible story.
