Never had my ps5 crash from playing FFXVI, however I did see a video of someone ps5 crashing from the game but said video also showed the ps5 in what looked like a tall drawer or locker for all the appliances, so you gotta ask if these overheating ps5s are because of the game or if its folks just flat out mistreating the console

To be fair, gaming isn't very original due to financial risk so I can see how it's become stale. Even the indie scene been the same Hollow Knight/Binding of Issac rehashes for the past several years with a few gems sprinkled here and there.

yall need some rpg fans on the show to really talk about the crpg stuff because the rpg stuff isn't getting the attention it deserves (Baldur's Gate 3, Avowed (Which is based on the Pillars of Eternity games and isn't a skyrim clone) and Starfield, and even the new Dragon Age and Mass Effect. I feel like there's a lot of knowledge about the genre not represented in your podcast until the genre gets mainstream successes.

I always find it weird when ppl play story games that are single player and focused on a story….. and then they get upset about the cutscenes. But I do get the criticism when you say it’s because the gameplay sections feel very short in comparison

"Gaming is Stale" This year alone: Octopath 2, FF16, Starfield, Baldur's Gate 3, Spider-Man 2, Armored Core 6, Like A Dragon: Gaiden, Tears of the Kingdom, Street Fighter 6, RE4 Remake, Deadspace Remake, Diablo 4, Jedi Survivor, Hogwarts Legacy, HiFi Rush, Cyberpunk DLC + Full game overhaul, I could keep going lol

On that Diablo IV info...SEASONS do NOT stop you from playing or leveling your past characters. That ain't true...you can do WHATEVER you want with older characters, the Season is separate to Eternal and Hardcore Servers. Separate characters and character progression (Storage, Gold accrued, PvP Gems, Renown, Map Exploration) All this is attached to account AFTER July 18th (Season launch date) but the credit you are growing still applies after that date. To paraphrase. ALL progress matters, it just matters which "servers" you are running on. Just sayin cause ALOT of people been against seasons (when it's been a thing for a long time in Diablo and is not a bad thing...it really isn't) and you can't knock it till you try it, but misinformation and assumptions is death... peace...

Yea the pacing in FF16 is terrible, no question. And it’s because there is little to no reason to actually explore. So you go from A to B with cool combat in-between, and then you get this huge cutscene. The DMC comparisons are funny because DMC 5, particularly, had much more exploration/off the beaten path activities than FF16. Tales of Arise is another rpg with great pacing because it gave you so much exploration/reason to return to hub areas.

In regards to FFXVI overheating PS5,s, I think folk just had dirty consoles. Can’t blame the software for lack of cleanliness. I say that because none of my friends or I experienced that, and we definitely binged that game.

Edit: pretty good podcast gentlemen. First time listening. We'll see if this is the last time, but so far I'm impressed. If someone were to tell me that they primarily play shooters and sports titles than I would 100% agree with them. That gaming is stale. For everyone else who actually plays more than one genre, however, I can't agree with this at all. You guys really need to expand your horizons in gaming. There is a plethora of great games and great genres out there to tackle but current gamers can't handle all of that. It's almost as if they're not really gamers they are just bandwagon. Chasers

I think publishers realized that Single player games are a much safer investment than Multiplayer games. Just give a team a budget to make a dope game and you’ll make money when it sells well. Not like multiplayer games that are expected to pump out years and years of content to compete with Fortnite while never truly being given a chance to catch on. And now after being written off we are in a renaissance of single player games with many being classics that we’ll look back on years from now as all timers. 30:30 I’m glad y’all calling out these bozos for keeping their eyes shut to some true masterpieces out there.

3 and 4 simpled things down compared to D2 where putting one point in the wrong slot can fuck your character lol, plus you can map mutiple abilities compared to the 5 or 6 in D4 It has the look of Diablo2 remastered but some of the mechnics and ideas from D3

I think gamin is stale because nothing new and innovative has come out recently. Auto battlers are the newest type of games to play and those are only ok. Minecraft had a wave, battle royales had a wave, Rocket league had a wave. What new and exciting game will start the next wave of gaming?
