People love to use hyperbole instead of looking further, recommending indie or trying out older franchises to lead into something new as well. Gaming is huge. There's such a large amount of games out there. Humans as a whole just need to think of new things outside their comfort zone. And it's just a game; "comfort zone" can be used loosely.

I agree, but I still feel that this big corporations are still in the wrong and are overall, causing a decline in quality of games, and it’s reaching a point where some of these AAA games aren’t “some big problems but playable” to “holy shit I’m playing shovelware that cost me $100.” Whether it be through predatory monetization, lack of any fun elements, or the story pushing some shitty agenda, I do feel overall the game selection has gotten worse. But it definitely isn’t dead I’ve played fire ass games like DRG, Hollow Knight, Cuphead, and Disco Elysium, not to mention Nintendo still pushing out some bangers. Good vid man 👍
@Gabrielnfs11 ай бұрын
See, when you say AAA games have gotten more complex and the reason they're buggy is that the prices haven't increased, then I say it's a budget issue, not a price tag issue. They could just throw less money at games and focus on making them better instead of making them shinier. And if to make an AAA game nowadays you need to ask for more than 60 dollars, then the AAA industry is a problem indeed, and ignoring AAA games as a rule is pretty justified. Why overpay for games that are generic when you can get the odd great middle market game or the many great indie games for a fraction of the asking price, even more so if the asking price is higher than 60 dollars (which is already way too much for most third world countries, too). Other than that, great video, I enjoyed it a lot and you had some great points.
@Cuber8754 ай бұрын
I agree that AAA games are sometimes overpriced, but you're ignoring the fact that there are some great AAA games like Elden Ring or GOW (maybe u don't like them and that's OK) and some bad indie games. I mean, not every AAA game is some souless slop like COD or FIFA.

my problem with the modern multiplayer games isn't the predatory monetization schemes. sure put all your cosmetics behind a roulette wheel, see if i care. my problem is the feeling that the game could've been better if the company behind it was a little less aggressive on pushing monetization

@@blikthepro972 The crux of the problem is the underlying business model that incentivizes publishers to continuously extract value from players, which can lead to a development philosophy where monetization strategies take precedence over player experience and game quality. This can manifest in various ways, such as, Resource Allocation: Development resources may be disproportionately allocated to creating new skins, emotes, or other cosmetic items rather than enhancing gameplay, fixing bugs, or adding new and innovative features. Design Philosophy: Game design can become skewed towards encouraging in-game spending. For instance, making the most desirable items available primarily through purchase can subtly pressure players to spend money to keep up with the community or fully enjoy the game. Community Division: Aggressive monetization can create a divide within the game’s community between players who are willing to pay for content and those who are not, potentially impacting the social aspect of the game. Longevity and Satisfaction: The focus on monetization can lead to a treadmill effect, where players are constantly chasing the next item or achievement, which can diminish long-term satisfaction and reduce the lifespan of the game as players burn out or become disillusioned. or to make an argument for the opposite. The prevailing critique against modern multiplayer games often targets their monetization strategies, suggesting a detrimental effect on the overall quality of the gaming experience. This critique, however, does not fully account for the intricate balance between sustaining a game's development and delivering a high-caliber experience to the player Sustaining Development: The high costs associated with creating and updating sophisticated games necessitate monetization as a means to sustain development efforts. Voluntary Participation: Monetization strategies typically revolve around optional purchases that do not impact the core mechanics of the game, empowering players to choose how they engage financially. Free Updates: The funds from monetization often translate into free content for the player base, enhancing the game for everyone, not just those who pay. Continued Support: A successful monetization model can underwrite extensive post-launch support, contributing to a game's longevity and evolution. Industry Health: Robust monetization models are pivotal for the financial health of game developers and publishers, which in turn drives innovation and growth within the industry.

To be fair, hating on stuff you know exaftly why you hate is a great trend. If they actually knew what they talked about. But whatever. Most negative opinions that get mocked are always the uneducated ones and people not knowing what they are talking about - both because of ego and because you are not supposrd to interact with what you dislike. I dislike a lot of games. But in the end it's both just literally preference, and even if i wanted to say that it sucks - i couldn't, because at one point i just quit, and couldn't bother to boot it up again.

Do you have any idea how much garbage and porn there was for the PS1 and the PS2? Look at any .iso archive for emulators for those two systems alone. Gaming has always had a ton of garbage to wade through to get to the really good games, like ANY kind of media. And I bet your ass has soy sauce in your kitchen. Get rid of that. You don't got the right to enjoy Asian cuisine when you're still using "soyboy" as an insult after all these years. @@sourlab I believe most gamers are chronically online mental patients, yes. If you have the will power not to be then good on you. My rant probably wasn't aimed so much at you. The reason I believe they are? Because every single game released nowdays is designed to take all of your spare time. Most you cannot even 'compete' unless you spent hundreds if not thousands of hours playing. And then multiply that by the factor that most gamers don't just want to play one title, they want to play multiple games as they release and you end up with millions of people on places like steam that if you click their profile it says '5278 hrs' spent on whatever title. And that's just one title in their library. You realize that 100 years is only 36500 days right? How many times in that span can you spend 5k hrs on a title factoring in sleeping, the years spent being too young to care, the years spent being too old to know how to do anything anymore and the fact that you likely arent living to 100?
