6:28 "I find making fun of these people funny. And if that's making people ignore my points because I hurt their feelings then that's fine. The thing that really gets me is that even if I was as fake and nice as possible, during the video, presenting my points in the most easy to digest way for these robot TF2 fans, I still don't think many of them would care to hear it. They'll just see me saying 'fix tf2 bad' and 'tf2 community bad' and hate it no matter how good my points are.... it touches on the idea that if I weren't so aggressive and mean, people might actually listen to the things I'm saying." This is likely the primary reason what your last video lacked civil comments, not because of how crass you were, but how, even admitted by yourself, of how much you like attacking people's character. For comparison, look at ZestyJesus. Sure there are people willing to avoid his criticism against things that are happening in TF2 but he's more likely to receive constructive and civil criticism because he does not make character attacks the focus of his videos. There's a difference between "I think this cosmetic for TF2 is dogshit and does not suit the game's identity because it does not reach a certain criteria" versus "Your voice sounds liked this, you used a bunch of buzz words". I'm not asking you to be nice and I'm not asking you to somehow change your position entirely over this, but if you truly wanted constructive criticism and/or people to be more civil, you could at least do the same to other people rather then being shocked that people are only treating you the same way that you treat others.

I always found it stupid when videos like this mostly have slob comments. Like, you made a video that sparks discussion but then mostly show idiotic comments. In this video you covered 68 comments, 43 of which were mindless slob. There were 23 comments (and 2 from youtubers) that had, in my opinion, some kind of point and you said that only 4* had a valid point, if there were truly more, why not show those? And now to add my 2 cents again, i find it very stupid that people poke holes into the TF2 community and try to make a show out of it, when its basically in its dark age. We are in our 7th year of no update and neglect from valve, of course a community at that point would go crazy and develop a complex. Im not saying its deserved, but pointing at a guy who just got shot in the leg and telling him he should just kneel over and die, even tho hes still standing, is extremely mean spirited and undeserved.

Okay then. First of all, if a statement is generally applicable does that make it false? Next, I would like some clarification about why that argument of mine is bad. And no, I was not telling you to judge something without experiencing it. You have made it very clear you used to play TF2, and I was replying to you specifically. I understand if you think I'm creepy as someone looking in from the outside without actually knowing what my content is about, I really do. But like, how is that relevant in the slightest? You just put up my channel and called me a creep to avoid responding to me calling you out for being fucked up in a different way until later. Especially given the personal things I've been dealing with over the last year, I find it incredibly distasteful to insult people over their voices regardless of what game they make content for. Finally, I had already responded to your very respectful and well-worded reply (harsh accusation) about my channel in a way that connected back to my point about TF2 content. You seem to have neglected to include both that and your initial reply, despite being fine to do it with others. I find it hard to believe that was not deliberate. I'm glad we ultimately have the same conclusion, that people can choose to play TF2 or not. And frankly, I can agree that a lot of those comments really suck. But does choosing not to engage with the game or its player base really have to involve insulting as many people as possible and discouraging any efforts to help the game? I want to be constructive with you and understand your perspective, but it's so hard when you seem dead-set on insulting me because I like TF2 and anime girls. It really seems like you accidentally saw one too many mentions of SaveTF2 in your YT recommendations and are taking out your frustration by lashing out at everyone to try to make others as pissed off as you are, that's what I meant in calling you a contrarian. Please, don't try to drag others down and instead try to focus on something else that makes you happy. If you have any further feedback, I would love to discuss it in spite of our differences. Most of the tf2 community is very old (much like the game) and stems from a time where valve had good communication and understanding with the playerbase. Given this games uniqueness, wether its cartoony visuals or its voice acting it pretty much got a lot of things right and is still a very good game compared to modern day fps. The players can be interpreted as the children of a neglectful parent and just desire to spend more time with their parents (valve). Save Tf2 was (this isnt copium) very complicated to understand for even the people who started the movement. We were focused on making it a 'peaceful' protest and a request to valve for a better handle on their game. Since its genuinely such a masterpiece of a game the players didnt want to just give up and move on to play other games (also other games arent similar at all to the playstyles tf2 offers), hence the movement. However our main concern now with FixTf2 is simply a fix on the bots that infest every casual server. I guess the several reasons the playerbase is still clinging onto the game are summed up. Now to direct attention to your points. Yes the community is very bored and has literally nothing to do. but you cannot blame a playerbase that hasnt gotten any good content in 7 years for this type of repetitive content and memes. If tommorow Blizzard stopped updating OW and left it to die for 7 years i bet the playerbase would be just as angry as us. Your other points about "tf2 based rest is bad" are not entirely true. While yes a lot of the playerbase compares tf2 to other games and deems it better, you must also look at other fps games that came out at that time or even now. Tf2 is still at its core better than a lot of games out there. While yes the community should stop comparing tf2 with other games, you must also look at other examples such as Fortnite being compared to Pubg or minecraft being compared to roblox. Granted, the community is largely young but the point still stands. If there is a game in a relatively same genre then it will 100% be compared to another similar game. Also your points regarding people with annoying voices and opinions, again thats literally every single fanbase of not just video games. You'll find so many people who have annoying voices LITERALLY everywhere. Also, the reddit and twitter people represent a very small chunk of the playerbase. To conclude, our playerbase is pretty much left to rot in a jail cell and not even given food by gaurds, instead they let other prisoners come and beat you with a stick. edit- removed the requirement to not type copium. lmao type away

Tf2 just needs to use community servers like it did on launch. If Valve does nothing about the bot crisis. I know theres the whole "Valve has a responsibility to fix the official servers", but again people need to realize that the bots are just going to comeback with every patch. With it being a free to play game anyone can replace a bot account. The only thing is that contracts would have to be reworked.

I'm a big TF2 fan, as you can see by the PFP (lame ik), but I didn't mind the last video. It's harsh, but sometimes people need a punch in the gut. I was of the same mindset of "TF2 is really special, and nothing compares to it's unadulterated majesty!" Or some cringe-worthy shit like that. But then I came across that video, and something changed! Something about your point of "TF2 fans superiority complex" smacked me in the face, but in a good way! Yes TF2 is amazing, yes it's timeless, but to claim that it is a game with no flaws is ignorant and childish. This idea that TF2 is, as you described, one of the "based" games, really held me back from trying out other games. I also really liked the point that you made about content fatigue in terms of TFtubers. I enjoy most TF2 content creators like ZestyJesus, Mönkey, Uncle Dane, and hell, even TheWhatShow! But yeah, you're right. A lot of them blend together. They lack a certain uniqueness, humor, or originality that KZbinrs like ZestyJesus, LazyPurple, and Vorobey bring to the table. Vorobey is good at the game, and has a IDGAF disposition in his videos, Zesty does some real and actual analysis and thinking in terms of game balance or the research for the bot numbers video, and Lazy has his "How It FEELS" series which has millions of views. These gems are amongst a sea of the same video seemingly copy-pasted one after another. I personally think that if you want to discuss your personal views on how to balance something in TF2, or you want to make a clip dump video, at the very least, strive to have a semi-unique or interesting editing style, or funny/satirical demeanor. To sum everything up, I agree with you on lazy TF2 content that was birthed from lack of updates as well as the extreme boredom that has caused us to regurgitate the same crap over and over, I also agree with the Superiority Complex segment of your previous video. I think that FixTF2 shouldn't just be for TF2, it should be a message to Valve as a company. They're letting TF2 and CS2 go into the shitter. And Deadlock I'm sure will have the same problem. I will continue to play the game even if the bots don't get fixed. And who knows! Maybe Valve the company will take notice. Not the TF2 dev team. Unlikely, but once again, who knows? Also the joke that surrounds TF2 players and how they are either furries or anime/hentai addicts was exemplified by this video lol. The Conscientious Objector sure is something.

Ngl, I played tf2 for a similar amount of time as you and I think the points you bring up actually make sense. It’s been a while since I watched content related to tf2 items since I don’t really play anymore. It’s kind of sad to agree with you about the content being dry but I still come back to have some fun every now and then. I still think this is kind of a strange take in a way because I get there are tons of cringy tryhard soldier players out there who honestly deserve to be called out for their superiority complex but I think you’re undermining the actual wholesome players who kind of just stick around for the game itself not its community. I think when people say you sound contradictory, they’re talking about how you say you want the game to be in a better state but also say to move on from the game and call out people who are prominent in its community which one could argue is not really helping to get the game in a better state. To be fair though, the game would actually need an update to be in good shape but what can these guys do other than promote the game right? Also, I don’t think it’s fair to say that these tf2 content creators are boring because you don’t even watch them and in some cases people have been able to make boring topics interesting like oversimplified or one of those videos teachers show in biology to make things interesting. I think a great example of this would be that one tf2 KZbin guy who has breakfast in his name. Even if you said there are some gems like lazy purple, you’re still undermining the effort of other people. People are also saying that your video is rage bait and even though your intention wasn’t that, it still could be considered rage bait when you’re targeting the most vile people in the tf2 community who would instantly seethe at the sight of backlash. For your take on fixtf2, I agree that there is little to no hope in a revival for tf2 when they have nobody to work on the game. When valve has giants like cs2 and dota farming them money that tf2 could only dream of achieving, what incentive does valve have to fix the game? A couple die hard fans? I’ve always liked keeping an open mind so playing different games that are in vastly different genres from tf2 hasn’t been difficult and seeing your side of this argument isn’t difficult under the right guise. All I can really say is spare us a bit, the nostalgia is strong with this game.

6:53 "It touches on the idea that if i wasn't so aggressive and mean people might actually listen to the things i'm saying" That actually has been pointed out by Zesty Jesus a long time ago since he's been saying pretty much 95% of the talking points about how TF2's broken and how Valve doesn't give a flying fuck for ages, but because he says it with a slight tone of disgust and anger, nobody cares and everybody will strawman him to the day he dies, Which honestly is kinda hilarious since most talking points now a days are just parroting him almost word per word. TF2's community is pretty much the living embodiment of toxic positivity, The TF2 Accent is pretty much the only way people will ever accept your opinion. It's not what you're saying that pisses them off, It's how you're saying it
@arieson77155 ай бұрын
YOu said it. You said what everyone else was afraid to. I left TF2 in 2018 from just how terribly obnoxious the community was becoming. I have never heard a truer take.
@---qm1th5 ай бұрын
I'm going to preface this by saying I saw your previous video, and that I agreed with pretty much everything you said there. I didn't feel like commenting there, so I'll take the opportunity to speak my mind here. I've been playing TF2 for a good while now. Not since release, but for a good while. And I can definitely say the community has changed. I cannot pinpoint exactly WHEN it happened, but if I had to wager a guess, it would be around 2016 when Overwatch released. For as much the TF2 community loves to talk about how the TF2 is great, they fly into a seething rage whenever they feel like the game is being threatened by another. For YEARS the community wouldn't shut the fuck up about Overwatch, and gleefully danced over its grave when the trashfire that was OW2 happened. And you can see it happening again with Deadlock right now. The community is still doing great things (Emesis Blue was pretty cool), sure, but it is absolutely a shadow of its former self. When people started gearing up for savetf2 2, I had the small hope that it would be actually SOMETHING other than an useless big chungus wholesome protest. So imagine my disappointment when it turned out to be the same exact thing, with the main "head" of the game telling people not to boycott valve. And worst of all, you cannot even criticize this weak movement without being mauled to death by a dozen fans, as your previous video showed. You could say that every community has its bad apples, but I know this is not true. Other games I play, such as Warframe and DRG, have wonderful communities. Not perfect in any way, but still miles better than TF2's, and nowhere as annoying. Like everyone else, I do want TF2 to be a functional game. But a part of me also thinks a shitty community deserves a shitty game. This is getting long enough already, so I'll end this by saying it is refreshing to see someone being truthful for once instead of the average insufferable youtuber. Keep up the good work.

Finally, someone who actually has balls to say not nice things about TF2 stuff. That's what Zesty talked about in one of his videos. TF2 community can't even handle someone calling a weapon skin "stinky". They talk about positive behaviour, but become toxic pile of trash, when someone disagrees with them. It's in tf2's roots. Even 10 years ago, when "friendlies" started to say "let people play as they want" and instantly tried to kick you because you did so (i want to frag). I spent near 7.5k hrs in this game and i enjoyed the gameplay, even with it's flaws. I enjoyed some of beautiful SFMs. But the only thing i couldn't enjoy is the youtuber's content. There are good TF2burs of course. Vorobey, Zesty (even i totally disagree with his point of view on gameplay), Lazy Purple. But like, 10 years into this community, I still don't understand how people like soundsmith, video essays like elmaxo's etc. The community suffocated itself with this abusive positivity. It's tough that you've been pushed down by these other youtubers as they are in someway a contributer to a much wider community issue as a whole. I'm thankful that I've left that game behind but there isn't truly anything like it and I might try out Tf2 classic, find other games(which I struggle because I'm a little picky asf) or even return back into my older hobbies(like writing and etc). Additionally, valve really sucks but....modding is the core reason this company stays a float, they abandoned so many games and projects yes. But that doesn't mean people should just be so railed up about it or protest for something that wouldn't go anywhere. If they really want to savetf2, they gotta abandon the valve version of the game and support those mod projects or even make games if they're dedicated enough to do it. We can't depend on a company to everything for us, their only interest now is profit and nothing more.

I will 100% agree that the tf2 community is probably the most bored and the community with the biggest superiority complex ever. Mostly quitting the game, aka playing it like once annually, has made me more happy than staying with the game. Plus the game community is nowhere near as nice as people say it is, piss off the wrong group and you can have them stalk your games to vote kick spam you all while voice spamming slurs while the mindless drones auto press f1 while not looking at who is actually mic spamming. The game fell from grace back in MyM, and the community has been denying it ever since. Valve will never fix the game since they no longer develop games, nor do they actually have any devs anymore. The happiest I’ve been involving anything in the tf2 community is that people realizing their playerbase is 70% bots after I’ve been seeing it for years how much better tf2 is as a game due to it being an old game with “200k players”. I hate how people are saying negative comments about Deadlock when it's not even out, it reminds me of that time when someone leaked cutscene footage for the upcoming Wolverine game and people got upset because of how unpolished it looked, without even taking the fact that it's in development. I do agree with the argument that if they don't find a way to make a new anti-cheat this game will become infested with bots too. But the difference between TF2 and Deadlock, is that TF2 is a VERY old game which gave botters time to make bots, dissecting the game as time passed, not to mention, the code was leaked. As a result, made it more easy to make bots. Deadlock is not, so nobody knows how it's coded, unless somehow it's code gets leaked, bots will not be as huge as TF2's in it's early life. My theory, Valve is not only working on Deadlock but is also on a new anti-cheat for it. If so, they could replace the old one with the new one. Although I'm pretty sure they're gonna use a different engine, so implementing Deadlock's to TF2's would be difficult or impossible. I'm being very optimistic but one can dream, right?

People just want to see this game have updates again since there's nothing else really like tf2. I fully agree with your point about the community being annoying and spamming memes and the whole superiority complex thing. you should also have censored the names of people, just so there's no risk of getting people harassed.

It's cool to see you talk about this in a more normal matter than last video, because my dumb ass was genuinely not sure if you were exaggerating or not lmfao. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is you 'exposing' people's profiles ig. It's most definitely funny, but you could at least censor the names. Some folk just go and harass others for no reason after seeing them in a video, and although I doubt it's gonna happen much with your channel, it's still something worth considering. The millions of dollars of in game items lost would put valve in an awkward situation, especially when other valve game communities would start to become worried about their items, and trust me, volvo would get some serious shit if csgo's economy collapsed, also the one that makes them billions. Valve kinda gave up on the tf franchise, if they made a tf3 that somehow preserved the original items it would come off as them making a quick buck off a game they just fucked in the ass and abandoned for years, it would probably get review-bombed at launch, not to mention tf2 spent 9 years in development, and some of the things that make tf different are it's extremely deep mechanics, just download the game and open some community rocket jump server and try the easy courses, a bunch of the mechanics from tf are complete accidents as well, name another game with trimping, market gardening, det jumping etc.
