besides friction coefficient ptfe is hydro- and oleophobic which is important for consistency in humid and sweaty conditions. do you know if these other materials should hold up in those regards?
@rappersorbeeАй бұрын
I think unfortunately that answer is the most boring one, which is just status quo, going back anywhere past like 10 years, gaming was nowhere near as specialized as it is now, especially as far as gear goes, and so there was a pretty unbalanced ratio of large mass production because the whole world is playing games but simultaneously a small selection of brands, so there wasn't much material versatility because there were only a handful of big brands (razer, Logitech etc etc) and so experimenting with different materials just wasn't worth it for them given R&D costs and the risk of experimental options not working out when they have much more casual-esk players in their target audience who wouldn't care about such minimalist tuning to the products,despite as you pointed out there probably being dozens of different material options that could be equally if not more efficient, but now we are slowly getting more of that because of small niche brands that can pander to a specialized player base who are willing to invest in lesser known brands and spend more money if it means getting the most optimal set-up
@Tacet13721 күн бұрын

Comparing the ghostglide cyclones to the obsidian pro airs, the cyclones had a lot more control for me on glass pads which was really nice. It also could just be that the UHMWPE material that the pro airs are made of is just way harder than the hardened PTFE and takes a really long time to break in. I tried using them for a few hours and just didn't want to use them for a super long time to get them worn in. But they are super smooth at least and pretty quiet as well. Best skates meant to be used for both cloth/glass? I use a m3k with red obsidian dot skates/stock core pads with the kin and a Saturn pro soft with the Saturn pro only being used with stock skates. I hate having to swap skates just for one pad so I got the cyclones and they’re coming soon but do you think the cyclones will perform fast or slower? I assume it’ll perform semi fast since the m3k only has room for four dots and since there’s less contact being made, it’ll be faster? If not what skates do you think will be good for a Saturn pro soft? Jades?
@boardzy3 ай бұрын
Jades probably the best all around. I wouldnt main hardened ptfe with cloth/hybrid pads but with an M3k it would be different I guess
@HeyNavi3 ай бұрын
@@boardzy yeah that’s what I’ve been thinking, and I feel it might be different with an m3k since it’s very light and will have less contact (four dots). Usually the experience I’ve been hearing with hardened ptfe/uhmwpe dot skates on cloth is negative, but I’m thinking that’s only because they’re using bigger mice which require more dots. More dots, more contact, more friction. Can never get a straight answer since it’s never a direct answer to my question. Do you think you can test cyclones with an m2k on an artisan fx zero and Saturn pro and give me response? I already the cyclones coming but I can cancel them if they’re not good and could just order jades.
