Squarish aspect ratios are awesome. It’s part of what makes the iPad so great. I hate long thin aspect ratios. Foldables are the future and “candy bar” shaped phones will soon look old fashioned.

I had felt the same way about call of duty on my fold. So after watching i went into labs and changed the aspect ratio for call of duty. It made it smaller but way sharper. Felt better to play too. Still a big screen at 16 :9

give a few months. Samsung's quality control is worse than Chinese knock off phones. You could purchase literally any other brand even Android than Samsung. I did the same mistake of buying a Samsung S8 after my iPhone 6s. That phone was amazing at start. 6 months in, and the screen shat out on me, the speaks destroyed, the battery would drain 50% from the time I leave my home to my office, just watching a few tv shows on the way, roughly about 40 mins. I had to replace my display thrice under warranty due to burn in, and battery twice. Not worth it. Samsung is a basic rip off.

The iPhone had a slightly higher ppi then the fold which makes it look better. If your gonna turn off 120hz because the iPhone doesn’t have it then why not lower the screen resolution on the iPhone (assuming apple added a setting to do that finally)

The main reason to own a fold 3 when it comes to gaming is for emulators. The near 4:3 aspect ratio is perfect for gamecube, playstation, Xbox, etc.. games. They all play full screen with up to 5x original resolution. On-screen controls suck on folding devices, pair it with something like a gamesir 2 or Shaks sb5 controller. Cast it or use DEX, and the experience is unmatched.

Honestly I don't think the issues with Genshin was because the iPhone was less capable. With android apps, it's usually a one size fits all, while iPhone apps are optimized. I have played COD Mobile on a low end tablet and though I could select higher settings, the performance wouldn't match the higher settings, but the higher settings were still selectable regardless

Selecting 60fps doesn't lock it at 60fps. It only runs super smoothly outside combat when there's not much going on on screen. Frame rate still drop when the iPhone throttles when you select 60fps.

Now imagine, if the phone cannot lock 30fps, how will it take 60? Trust me, i know. I only use my iPhone to convert resins to condensed and refresh my expedition while i'm at work and that few minutes is enough to cause the phone to start heating up and framerate starts to drop.

Have you considered that the dimming might be caused by your hand covering the sensor on the notch? It happens to me all the time. I just rotate the phone to make it face the light source and voila!

On paper, the larger screen should deliver a better experience. In practice, you are better off connecting your phone to your OLED 4K TV, and use your playstation or xbox controller to play the game, while leaving the phone on a cooling mat or something to prevent overheating (which results in thermal throttling). The higher refresh rate from the TV might even deliver a better experience if you use an iPhone. One advantage android users have is that if their TV supports usb-c, they don't have to buy a dongle. iPhone users, on the other hand, need to get a lightning to hdmi or lightning to usb c converter.

Because the iPad is a laptop replacing device with a much larger screen and size. It's not meant to be used as a phone, whereas the Fold 3 is meant to be used as a phone while giving a tablet like experience. That's why he compared two top notch gaming phones. If he wanted to game on an iPad, then he would have to compare it to the Galaxy Tab S instead of the Fold 3.

@@andyH_England you're right that the Fold 3 has a bigger screen than every candy bar phone. But the Fold 3 is also not as big as a tablet. So obviously it's going to lose when going against iPad Air's and Pro's and Galaxy Tabs. The closest tablet comparable to the fold is the iPad Mini which has a slightly larger display than the Fold 3. All other tablets have much bigger displays and batteries.

This wasn't a complete comparison. Especially in the LOL case. Did u notice that the viewfinder />zoominmap scale% on the iPhone showed more map than on the Zfold3. Check again and you will see that the sides of the map is shown more on the iPhone with a 16:9 ratio screen, whereas the zfold3 shows lesser of the map with the 4:3 ratio screen. If it did the same size we should have been able to see more of the top and bottom map with equal of the sides, right? But WRONG. I'll explain why it should matter, as well. League of legends is a slower MOBA. It relies heavily on co-op gameplay style and not too much on location-based dynamics gameplay(it's how I feel at least, from as much as I have played both) in comparison to something like Arena of Valor(which I play every day). More fast-paced than compared to LOL. The point I'm trying to make here is, due to the map not being fully visible on the sides as per the zoomin% of the viewfinder, it's a drawback/setback rather than a positive. The map is shown differently on both devices and during gameplay, it's not actually advantageous to have the folding device. Even I had purchased the fold thinking, man it would prove advantageous. But it didn't. The game code is weird and the developers need to give us "Zfolders" an equal advantage. You can't see past the brush if the enemy is hiding and u need to use the 2finger method(index finger scroll to check the map) to see what fight you are about to get into. It's a little easier to use the index finger method top and bottom in comparison to left and right. Now that I have a fold I have to reset my brain to use the index finger method to a left-right scenario after playing this MOBA for 5years straight. Which is sorta like a disadvantage. The other games mentioned here too also suffer similarly. You can open practice mode on each of them and see the difference in the viewfinder% compare it to iPhone. Also, you can force change your fold into a 16:9 scenario for that particular game app and see the difference again. In all the 3modes, they are not the same. All the 3 are different. I have an iPhone X as well, for the said comparison. All the 3modes, IphoneX=16:9(only), Fold3=4:3(regular game mode) & Fold3=4:3(forced 16:9mode). They all have varied lvl of map zoom in percentage. In the case of "Fold3=4:3gameforced 16:9mode" the controls for movement and trigger S1, S2, S3 buttons are so close to the fold crease that they don't register correctly. and often resulting in deaths because of not working in the right nick of time. The wow factor is there I agree. But u don't realize the disadvantage until you are killed during gameplay when u couldn't see the enemy coming on the FOLD and you could have seen him coming on the iPhone/16:9 regular android phone. Mind you it's not an iPhone/Android thing. It's a game thing. And yes I have sent the same to the developers of the game and yes they might have acknowledged the same but haven't had a fix for it yet. so let's see hoping to get a resolution so that the fold can also be viable for optimal combat. Anyways for all other topics touched on, in the video. Equalized framerate, etc. Good job. Thanks for the info and maybe next time get a little more in-depth with such reviews will be really helpful. i am samsung a50 phone user with an ipad and i can say that iphones and ipads are very fast when it comes to gaming their processors are very nice compared to samsung phones. i can play genshin on high settings on 60 fps on my ipad air 2019 but on samsung s22 as you can see on youtube video it lags very much when they play genshin. if i had money id go for iphone or ipad for camera,gaming and overall.
