Fun fact: there was so much turmoil with IOI and (I think) their parent company at the time they were developing Hitman 2 (2018) that it ALMOST got shelved. This is one of the reasons they had to save their budget for the gameplay and have still cutscenes. The game is so well polished outside of that that most people would never realise. Glad it did well and gave IOI the independence they needed to make more Hitman!

I was really intrigued by Lucas Grey and how different he is from 47. He has hair, a beard, a NAME! And a specific accent. I never played the games, but it's cool to see how Lucas has somewhat 'normalized' over the years, whereas 47 still seems fresh out of the test tube by comparison.

I like how 47 is one of the few characters where in the case of "two boys who became something like brothers after growing up together but one of them believes violence gets things done quicker and cleaner", 47 is the violent one. There's not many stories where the violent one is the protagonist.

***SPOILERS*** I disagree. Lucas Grey was already established to be an assassin, and was part of Ort-Meyer's assassin clone project. It's established that he killed at least the FSB Chief and Joe Cobb. He probably killed even more people to have got into the position of running an entire militia. It's moreso that he sent 47 to kill most people he needed dead once they reunited, rather than doing it himself. He's established to be a renowned assassin too, he just stopped doing most of the dirty work himself.

I like that Arthur was more scared of losing who is than actually dying. In a way it is like dying without actually dying, like killing someone's soul but their body still lives. If you kill him, he dies having everything, being at his highest point in life, but injecting him ends up with him living the rest of his life at his lowest point having nothing. The assassin shows there are fates worse than death.

I also love how Freelancer offers a perfect bookend to the series, but also leaves it open for future installments. 47 has what he wanted at the end of the first game: Peace, his yellow bird, but he also still has purpose. Combatting the power vacuum left by Providence and the ICA. In my instance, he's taken out thousands of targets and toppled hundreds of syndicates. I can't stop playing, but when that day comes, 47 will live on in peace fishing on his dock, presumably having Diana over for dinner, plinking in his gun range, playing his cello, painting his shed, tending to his garden...bombing around the valley in his gilded helicopter he got at the copart auction in Dubai after the events of the first level of Hitman 3, taking fishing trips on Silvio Caruso's float plane, driving mountain roads in Dino Bosco's Alfa Romeo...that makes me happy. Then one day, the next entry in the series will be announced and we'll be back in the saddle for a new threat. But if that day never comes, I feel happy for the life 47 will lead for eternity in my absence.

Freelancer i think would cause some lore problems if they ever make another Hitman series becouse exactly what u said. 47 no longer takes orders from an agency and hes unlikly to ever give up hes freedom ever again. In the main story 47 was just a tool for ICA and he never got any choices, here is your targets now take them out is pretty mutch all he was to them. Diana ofc cared for him but she was in the same position just 1 step up on the ladder. Now with freelancer 47 are in charge and has the final say in any mission and for any target, he can even choose to leave a mission before its completed in freelancer which was impossable before that. Its another thing showing that 47 now has the final say. Diana is still there giving him intel and offering targets but 47 has the final say. 47 is never gonna give up that freedom ever again so its gonna be a real challenge to be able to make that fit into the lore of the next game. They could ofc avoid that by making 47 injecting himself the "canon" ending but that would be beyond stupid to do that.

26:54 *[CODENAME 47]* is one of the most tragic characters of gaming. He's a professional, the best of the best in this world. He was literally designed to kill. As such, he can never really retire as a Silent Assassin and start a new life without endangering the normal people he's close to. Father Vittorio is the proof of that fact and Agent 47 has no choice but to accept that fate. So rather than endanger his friend any longer, 47 gave up on trying to find *Absolution* and sticks to what he's good at. *_Assasinations. Contracts. And Blood Money..._*

Something about the Constant's voice just hits a sweet spot for me. Dramatic enough to fit in with the super cinematic angle the new trilogy took, but also has a little bit of scheming cartoon evil to resemble cheesy 2000's game villains. Damn thats crazy i didnt know 47 had an opiate addiction. Having struggled with it a long time myself due to chronic backpain thats super relatable. His discription of the withdrawals is spot on too i get the exact same symptoms the vivid nightmares and anxiety are the worst part honestly i can deal with physical pain but mental pain and distress is fucked. I can totally see why 47 would have a very hard time getting clean especially when you've had a super traumatic life on top of pain that needs killing. Thats literally the exact situation im in, its so wierd I've played hitman my whole life and always felt such a deep connection with 47. Finding out we share the same addiction to deal with our pain and trauma just makes so much sense its a trip to think about. This reminds me of a quote from a interview with 47's voice actor David Bateson where he basically was saying 47 started off as a fictional emotionless programed killing machine but over the years through the shared experiences and soul of everyone who has ever worked on 47, played the game, lived in his shoes, and became 47 he has become real. He is the sum of everyone whos lives he has been a part of. Hes full of humanity, thought, belief, soul, and emotion. 47 is as much a part of us as we are a part of him. He is more than any one person he is an immortal entity of collective consciousness. Love to anyone who reads this, Happy Hunting. Amazing video btw top notch

@@Marcat-Markisa5he is. They’re just saying it’s sad his time in the hit man story is short even though he was 47’s only friend, and also the only child to escape the asylum with the memories of what happened. Lucas Grey(Subject 6) got a few cutscenes, so little it makes you wonder if they’ll make a game based on him pulling strings to “Take them all down” since he was grown before 47 ever crossed his path again.

Tooootally agreed. The first 2 games had something very special and unique. I'm not even sure if they did that on purpose. That great dark and mysterious tone... Ah man, real classic. I would love to see the franchise reboot with the latest technology and the classic taste. Also removed funny stuff from the latest entries... Another example; people love latest Diana voice because it sounds vocally perfect. No man... the original one was so real. Imagine playing lee hong missions with original creepy vibe with rtx on....

I’m crying. I’ve only seen the gameplay and never knew what the missions actually meant. The biggest problem with these games is that you spend so little time as 47. Most of the time, you play as a mechanic, doctor, baresta, musician, and drug dealer. Could probably keep going, but you get it. Then, when you're ready to take out your target, they get taken out in some Rube Goldberg accident that seem to have been designed to kill them. It's so annoying.
