I've heard people say that the PC Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (whose PC versions were radically different games from the console ones) games are Ubisoft's last "real" tactical shooters, but I've yet to play them.
@allieboy1816 жыл бұрын
It was only different for the ps2 version. I believe the 360,PS3, and PC versions were all the same. I think anyway
@tkullander6 жыл бұрын
The 360 and the PS3 version were more or less identical third person shooters with some tactical elements. PC version was played in first person, and indeed a lot more tactical - look up some gameplay, both the first and second GRAW are really good games with a slower pace. However, I prefer the original Ghost Recon with the expansions. PS2 and the original Xbox versions were very simple and watered-down shooters, and generally considered quite bad.
@shuboy055 жыл бұрын
@@tkullander The PC ports of GRAW and GRAW2 are also unusual because Ubisoft outsourced production to GRIN (which was not a Ubisoft studio) and they build both ports in their own in-house game engine. This might be the two last times Ubisoft did such a thing since they now have enough studios to handle ports.

Surprised how close to Gears Of War this was...impressive cover mechanics when that is considered. Also Vegas handled the dual perspectives and transitions spectacularly well.

I started with Rainbow Six 3 on GameCube as that was all I had at the time. I had heard that the PC games were better but would not play the "real" Rainbow Six until about a decade later. Still this and its sequel felt even less of a game than RS3 and even more so than Lockdown. Guns and customization always felt limited and there was never enough firearms to keep me satisfied as RS3 had. Easily my faves were the MP5A4/SD, M16A2, M4, G36C, 92FS, USP40, and the P90. Some of these were carried over to most other games in the series I played, but I saw dwindling arsenals in future titles. When I finally did play Rainbow Six 3 proper, I was blown away to how good the customization was. I didn't recognize most of the team members' names but a good dozen or so were carried over to the console RS3 and Lockdown. Vegas and Vegas 2 had only one recognizable team member, Ding Chavez, who was a mission lead/cameo rather than ground operative. Gone was the slower paced critical thinking and tactics driven gameplay in favor of more "modern" and arcade-style gameplay. It was jarring and off-putting at first but you keep telling yourself "it's a Rainbow game, it can't be bad". Yeah, well you're wrong for dismissing that little critical voice in your head telling you the game is not what the series represents and is supposed to be. Since Red Storm stopped making the game, the series has clearly gotten away from its roots and why it was great to begin with. Now, Tom Clancy nor Rainbow Six has little to do with the game but in name only.

RE6 Vegas was certainly enjoyable as a cover based action tactical shooter however it's definitely not the same classical RE old time fans know and love. RE6 Siege is just Ubisoft attempt to have their Counter-Strike like twitch action shooter.

Siege on its own is a really fun teambased shooter and a great alternative to CS. In fact, I think Siege is a direction some of the COD games could've taken to innovate. Sticking the Rainbow Six tag on it, pisses me off.

That's exactly the feeling I get from playing Operation Flashpoint: Red River - decent game, but in no way does it represent the Flashpoint name. Still, more realistic than Vegas, I'd say.
