Very informative videos. I was waffling on pulling the trigger, but I'll definitely be buying Oathworn now. Thanks for this!

Watched so many videos on certain rules for Oathsworn and this is easily the best.... answered every question I had after playing encounter 1... thank you!

Fantastic video! I picked up Oathsworn during the 2nd edition release, but was a bit overwhelmed, and only recently started trying it out - your videos help a ton!!

When are your videos about Tainted Grail going to be posted? You do a phenomenal job of explaining rules!
@GamingRulesVideos5 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I took on that work with them knowing that i wasn't available likely until January. So I'm planning some playthrough videos of it which will just be rough and ready, but I will be working on a full tutorial of it early in 2020. And since it is a finished game, it will be a full tutorial - rather than an overview like this.

@@GamingRulesVideos You will prob get more hits and views if the video comes out before all of the backers get their first wave. Either way, I look forward to watching your videos!

It seems impossible to get back more cards after your 0 cooldown card has been played. Is that correct or did I misunderstand something?

First phase of each new round is the refresh phase. You get all CD0 cards back

I think in general the rules are pretty neat and straight-forward. However, I stumbled over the seemingly un-intuitive rules for monster movement (at around 14:40 min). Why do monsters move to a hex connected by a straight line of empty hexes with their target instead of just moving to a hex as close to the target as possible?
@GamingRulesVideos5 жыл бұрын
I'm not the designer of the game - this is a question more for him. I just write the rules he tells me to write :)

@@GamingRulesVideos Thanks for your answer. Can you explain in more detail how a typical monster turns looks like in the current rules? From what I have seen: 1. Movement Phase: 1.1 Monster activate in sequence according to the NW rule. 1.2. Each monster focuses on a character based on distance. Questions: Is that distance estimated by counting hexes or movement points? Do monsters take into account negative hexes like water which costs 2 movement points? Do monsters try to avoid fire or other hexes with negative effects? Do monsters move according to priority list with tiebreakers (e.g. line-of-empty-hexes only relevant to break ties when multiple characters are equally close) 2. Attack phase. Questions: In which order do monsters attack? Again NW rule or based on the order they moved? How are attack priorities determined with multiple possible targets after movement? Player choice? As with all AI-driven games, I think that unambiguous combat rules are crucial for this game to succeed. The designers voiced multiple times on BGG that they trust you to iron out any problems with the current rules. I know you are up to this task!

@@sadgit1605 The Stage card describes the behaviour of the main boss for that turn. Sometimes it will focus on the closest character, sometimes not, it depends on the card. I can't answer your questions specifically right now as the final details of the rules are still being worked upon. Your second question: All Minions are moved before any attacks take place and they will follow strict rules. Again, the exact rules are still being worked on - but the playthrough videos with a member of Shadowborne games present should be close enough for now :)

Nice job on the video series! If you know: can you get more than 6HP max? And I assume, the only time you could take 0 damage is on all blanks or if your defense is actually higher than the numbers rolled?
@GamingRulesVideos5 жыл бұрын
I think you can only have 6HP max. And yeah, if you are hit for 3 damage but have 4 defence, you lose 0 HP

Anything change from the prototype to the full release? (basically wondering if this video is still relevant)
@GamingRulesVideos2 жыл бұрын
very good question. I've not had a good chance to look at the final rules, so I'm not sure how much has changed.

These rules in the videos seem pretty on the nail to what's in the book, if there's any differences it's going to be minor/trivial. I'd still call these relevant to getting you going.

This is super late but items don't work the same way anymore. They go in the cool down track but battle flow differently.

@@icydeadpeeps also, stage cards work differently now (revealed at start of round, activate at end). also, i don't think you mentioned injury cards, which are basically mandatory item cards. and there's nothing i can see in the rules about enemies trying to move as quickly as possible to a straight line from their target. and, if you miss, you get back the tokens you spent towards that attack. that's a big one! :)

The second edition of the game is pretty different. If you have the second edition you shouldnt watch this video only. This is a great start but there are a lot difference between this video and the second edition rule books.
