Id like to start this comment with, love the content brotha its good stuff and great resource for the most part on whether a game is worth it or not. That being said, might i suggest editing this down for YT or at least adding a timestamp cause there's a ton of fluff between topics as well as the topics just being drawn out for awhile longer than they needed. Lastly, I couldn't disagree with your take on hell divers more... The issues you brought up then waved off with "should have been address day one" is just being ignorant. The game grew exponentially over weeks not over a weekend, the server issues didn't get brought up until half through the second week. The game has issues with its optimization yes, but it works and has worked since day one. This is the same complaint I hear on reddit that is so done to death because its flat out wrong. They delivered on a fully working title, with the usual day one crash's and optimization issues, unfortunately we will never be in a world where this isn't the case due to the vast amount of different component combinations that create unique and sometimes game breaking problems. This is the same reason why so many developers still make exclusive games for a console then port later because its easy to take a single spec sheet instead of have to think about every possibility out there. And to your "server issue" point, a cert or not the servers would have been a problem. The team planned its server capacity around what they assumed was going to be their sales, fortunately or in this case unfortunately, we live in a era of gamer that is so jaded and tired of bad releases that collectively we all decided to finally stop wasting time with pre orders. I whole heartily agree with this sentiment since I haven't pre ordered a game in 3 years until HD2 came along, But this creates a unique issue for live service/Multiplayer games that takes away valuable data for the team to prep themselves against a sudden influx of players they couldn't have dreamed of getting based on their prior release. Again, love your content and everything you do, saved me a lot of money in the passed from making wrong purchases. I cant wait to see your next review, but I hope you take in consideration of context and data that can be easily sought before making a claim a dev didnt try their best when its been pretty clear that arrowhead did.

Dead island 2 had a trial on Xbox, I had it downloaded, I was going to purchase it as it was on sale, but held off until this weekend, then I look and it is in gamepass, seems very odd. Lucky I didn’t purchase it, would have been pretty annoyed if I paid £40 and then it was in my gamepass library. Hearing you joking about ads for the game, it was advertise in one of the menus on the home page dashboard for free trial. They do need to announce these things.

"we want better accountability with spending" cool, how about your other first parties that nead to clear close to 10m units just to break even - meaning your 20m sellers are more like 10m selleres? Why is your competition, BEFORE their mega acquisition closed, able to sometimes out-profit you. Something is broken with AAA gaming, and some of that broken is at Sony. many care oh so much about crunch, or think AAA budgets are rediculous, but oh wait, a AAA game that was costly in all ways to measure it just came out form literally anybody, so lets hype it up and ignore the to-us externalities. Also, let's joke about crunch when some live service team is trying to make the game better-to-us - why talk out of one side of your face when you can talk about three sides... four sides? ALL THE SIDES!!!

I get the frustration on Helldivers with the server issues, but on PS5 it's been solid for the past few days and i give a massive pass to a smaller developer that is being this consumer friendly and absolutely did not expect this server load. if there's any animosity, it should be directed at Sony as the publisher but they're also kind of clueless in the online space these days imo. Love the show! Keep spreading Democracy!

Have we all forgotten Sony made MLB The Show cross platform, not knocking Microsoft but SONY did it with that game. They've just doubled down and it makes sense to have Live Service games be cross platform. Soon as that Redfall fixed, they going make xplat too if they are even bothering fixing it, what's happening with that?

it was handed to some outside studio while the prime studio is restaffing for something else you might not hear about till end of gen or next gen. Anyway, that's outside the scope of what Phil said, even if he did his typical "never say never" disclaimer such that people like Warran can claim they didn't effectively lie for cash and dollars.

Also - some of those Xbox games were already on PS (more after that large purchase than before), and Sony publishes a game on Xbox, two more once they bought Bungie (and many more on MS Windows).
