I don’t ever comment on videos, but my circle button on my galaxy purple ps5 controller stopped working, I took the controller apart (even though it was intimidating and I’d never messed with electronics like that before), all my buttons looked fine but I still cleaned and brushed them, put everything back together and boom, everything was working fine again. All 4 of my buttons stopped working and I frantically tried everything I could think of to fix it. I took my controller apart and made sure the tether was still connected. As a last resort I watched this video and cleaned the piece with a Q-tip and alcohol and it started working again. Thank you for this video you saved me $60

I know this vid is a year old now, but this really saved me. My shape buttons randomly stopped working even though every other button was fine. I was stressing out cause money is hella tight, and I can’t afford to buy a new controller rn. This is the only one I have. I was super anxious taking it apart because I’m always worried I’ll break stuff when it comes to messing with the hardware, but this vid gave me the confidence to do it. Great video. I had my X and Square buttons and PS home buttons stop working after a drop off the couch. Everything seemed fine but cleaned the sensors and the gel pads with isopropyl alcohol and it worked as if nothing was wrong. Thank you! Saved me nearly $80 for a new one.

Great vid, opened it, and cleaned everything, used alchohol on the contact pads, and I could see black dust coming off on the q-tip. And the result is that I fixed one of my numbpad buttons that wasn't working!😀

Amazing detailed video my friend. My dualsense x stopped working due to dirt and kids usage. My issue got resolved after removing the black plate and cleaning from inside. Weird how that fixed the x button but it did!!!

Using the vacuum cleaner worked immediately. I was extremely surprised because I thought I was going to have to take it apart. oddly enough I've had a PS4 controller for much much longer and never had this issue. I've had the PS4 controller for maybe 5 months

Thank you so much, it has been a lot of help because the x button was not receptive of any signal after my baby brother dropped the controller just by 5 centimeters. It was one of the rubber things 8:07 that was unlinked from the x button. It worked greatly but i did one mistake that i dont really care, its the microphone cable got cut (who uses the controller’s mic anyway) 😂

Great video my controller had fell when I was playing madden I picked it up n tried throwing a dot to triangle and it didn’t work opened the controller up n found out the rubber was ripped and the socket of the triangle button was dirty I cleaned it and replace the rubber part with a another one and it works now

Hey so I figured out one of the other things that causes a dead set of action buttons... On the rear of the PCB (behind the FPC contact pins) there are smallllllll resistors (not capacitors?) in circuit with each via. They can be dead, loose, or fallen/ripped off. I'm missing the one on my model DS5 that handles the triangleband circle inputs. It looks like it just never got soldered firmly to the board and I bet they fall off/disconnect when people drop their controllers and suddenly no cleaning etc foxes them. I need to source a suitable replacement so I can test the repair :) can you help me figure out the values of those? They're near the gold text close to the battery connector. Check them out 👍

X button stopped working. No stickiness. I put it down to controller being dropped a few times. Followed this breakdown. And when I put it back together it was fully working. Ps. I have 2 screws spare after I pieced it together. This means that a tutorial for the re assembly for us bone heads IS necessary lol
