Variant of explanation D: The Flamingo was not altered when it was brought into the FBC, but it wasn't the Former that altered it. Instead, the FBC altered it by putting it in the Panopticon. As Trench says: "They've been altered because we can't stop thinking about them. We put them on altars because they're used to being worshiped." The attention the FBC gave it, and placing it on an altar in the Panopticon made it a sufficient focal point of psychic energy that it became altered. Perhaps repeating those tests would be in order.

Regarding Formulas, Dr. Ash's report suggests at the time he had devised a single formula. The Water Cooler Procedures mentions Formula I.32, while the Swan Boat Procedures mentions formula C. 32. The FBC seems to have at least 2 collections of formulas, each with at least 32 formulas, for a total of at least 64. If we assume the formulas are equally effective, and independent (which is probably overgenerous), then that many would bring us above 99.999% reliability that at least one will work on any given altered item.

That damn Flamingo… I remember the first time I played and went to capture it I went back to the beginning SO MANY TIMES! Every time I replay that section again I try to go through it quickly just to get that part over with and fight Former. I also find it funny that a group of people were outside waving around a Flamingo claiming to ‘predict the weather’ though it makes me wonder on why, out of all the other Altered Items, that the Former bounded to the Flamingo and Artic Queen? If we put Hypothesis D into account, why out of all the Altered Items, choose one that potentially had no Altered Effect UNTIL it entered the Oldest House? Great video as always! Really love the effects.

while i havent watched the video yet the artic queen and the flamingo both are altered item's with way's to easily deter any physical contact that would lead to someone entering the astral plane. edit: the queen is obvious but the flamingo (if it was altered) could create a category 5 hurrican or create a tornado that for all we know could be made into another 3 mile wide tornado or maybe even bigger than 3 miles wide

max payne 1 first release plan was for 1999....first game they released was in 1996! pink flamingo seized right when Sam finished his plot for Max they wanted to release that game in 1999 ......and we know pink flamingo was heavily used in both Max Payne 1 and 2 in films and filmmaker sets (mona hideout ).... i think there is some sort of connection to thomas zane as filmmaker we know Max was in the news all over after he did his revenge ...i think pink flamingo was the first attempt from thomas zane to inform FBC he is alive...maybe mona hideout was the workplace for him?...:-?

No it is explicitly stated that unless you know of it it is essentially impossible to find it. Only reason Jesse locates it is because of Polaris. Dr. Ash implies the only reason they found it is because the House itself invites then to deal with its parasite.

In regards to the Pink Flamingo. I think that the way it is framed is incorrect, in reference to weather as in climate. I think the Pink Flamingo is a new type of "continuing" altered item that alters the weather of the mind. Inducing things like paranoia, getting caught and whipping up a storm, drawing attention to ones self. It is clearly reactive not pro-active in it's altered state. The Pink Flamingo is special to Remedy and is probably the first altered item they created. Max Payne storm of the century. I find it almost coincidental that Jesse and the Former manage to somewhat patch things up after the Pink Flamingo and the paranoia takes a new level in here relation to the board after that.

Plus why would the pink flamingo utter the words of the valkyr users in a theatrical production? I think it said that on its own and is sentient, and changed how it acted on purpose in hopes of being less securely contained in the panopticon. I think it has influence over the observers mind and lead the transient to the oldest house wanting to get inside, perhaps by creating winter storms around them and they were a homeless v user that would otherwise die in the cold, so by avoiding them they were guided

Finding out about a Town that is in it's self an Alterned Item that contains other Alterned Items & Creatures & People and all of it being connected to Gods Hell and Purgatory would i think cause a Hell of a lot of Panic for them. And there are so many of such people. Thus the Place of Power has been created, giving birth to OoP and AI, experimenting with various kinds of the binding. With this self-driven accelerated evolution new paths have been created, leading nowhere, being dead ends or loops or spirals. Some of them resulting in mutations both to the OoP as well as to binding rituals, mutations that overlap the person and the object forcing them to exist in a new plane of existence, not native to any of them. Instead, the plane being a common ground to person, OoP and the PoP, Silent Hill itself. Some branches of the evolution snapped out of control, the spiral reaching its critical mass at which it is able not only to sustain itself but also accelerate further.

I have a theory on the flamingo. I think it’s a vessel for a very fickle weather spirit. The fact that it seemingly doesn’t react to any commandments save for the words of the transient might be a support for my theory. Only way to prove or disprove is to get a practicing shaman/Wiccan near the pink flamingo and see if their presence/actions cause a reaction in the pink flamingo. But I don’t think that’ll happen anytime soon.

I regard option D as almost certainly the case. There is zero chance the Flamingo is a “natural” altered item. These type of decorations were LONG out of vogue by the time of the acquisition, and the supposed altered effect seems to have no connection to the cultural idea of lawn ornamentation.

What if it wasn't an altered item when obtained by the FBC, but then after being displayed alongside the actual altered items, random FBC staff who were unaware of the flamingo's whole story jusy assumed that the flamingo is just another altered item And in the world of Control the concept of "group think" is real, so if a bunch of people thought that it's an altered item then maybe it became one !
