Thank you so much for this, I have been looking for this information and the ELS user manual is not at all aimed for users :D.....now I know how to tighten the clamps and how not to over tighten them and also completely take the clamps out for cleaning....you are awesome!

Hey Herb, nice work on the videos they are very helpful. Can you make a video on reading tension with a calibrator and calibrating the machine on the progression II ELS?
@HerbBaird5 жыл бұрын
May try that next time I calibrate.

Hi Herb. Great video. Do you know what the track depth and width is ? I want to get some new base clamps but don't know what will fit.

I do not, and no longer have the machine to measure

We have a clamp on this exact machine that won’t stay clamped. Tightening the circular thing doesn’t seem to matter. Is there something I need to replace? It just won’t stay clamped. Odd.
@HerbBaird Жыл бұрын
Without having my hands on the machine, it is hard to say. My guess is that it is either adjusted too loose or too tight. How far can you turn the lever lever?

Great videos, thanks. I received my progression ll this week. I've heard mention of oiling certain parts. Do you oil the clamp poles or any other areas? The manual said I may have to wipe off too much oil on the poles when it arrives but it did not seem like there was any oil on it at all. Thanks and if you do use a lubricant what kind do you use and where?
@HerbBaird4 жыл бұрын
I do use a little oil. I oil the clamp post, bottom of the clamp bases, the the clamp bearings, and the turn table where the clamps slide. Just a thin coat on everything. Make sure oil does not get on the clamp teeth. I use bicycle chain oil.
@bradt14064 жыл бұрын
@@HerbBaird That's great. I actually just hung up the phone with John at Gamma before I saw your reply and he said bicycle chain oil would be fine and just a tiny amount. He said maybe once a year do the poles. He said most likely it doesn't even need that but once a year he will get a call from someone that lives in a high humidity area that the clamp poles developed a tiny bit of rust. Thanks for your quick reply Herb and your videos are much appreciated.

One of my clamps that holds the racquet frame will loosen but won’t tighten! Out of nowhere just started having problem

@@HerbBaird Well I haven’t had time to fool with it but when I turn it right to tighten it’s stuck but I can go left. I’ll look at it soon and see what I can find but I may just have to take it off and try to put it back on

Hi Herb, great video. I've got a question, just wondering what I can do to combat clamp head twisting after releasing the string from the tensioner while clamped? The base of the clamp is not slipping, just the clamp post is rotating in the base as well as a small aboin of drawback? Is there a solution to this, or is this okay? Cheers :)

This is on a Gamma Progression II ELS by the way.
@HerbBaird3 жыл бұрын
Most likely what is happening when you are tightening the base you are not getting it perfectly in line with the clamp. As you know, when you secure the clamp, the base has some movement. I have seen this a lot with people I have taught to string. They grab the base to tighten and move it slightly. This causes the twisting. As long as it is minor twisting it is not an issue. It happens on the best of machines. If there is a significant amount of twist when you release, re-pull and adjust your base.

@@HerbBaird Cheers Herb, I'll give that a shot :)

Herb how can I raise the clamp? Tension disappears once it drops?
@HerbBaird3 жыл бұрын
not sure I understand. The clamp is just on a post that slides up and down in the base clamp tube. If your clamp is falling when you clamp it to the string, hold it up with your hand when pulling tension so it is level

Where can you buy the circle shape thing that you stick under the machine?
@HerbBaird Жыл бұрын
If you are asking about wrench for the base, it should have come with the machine. If you do not have one, you can use a socket or contact Gamma.

How often do you make an adjustment?
@HerbBaird4 жыл бұрын
Base clamps very rarely. Maybe twice in 5 or 6 years. String clamp obviously after every cleaning, and often for different string. As they get dirty you may may have to adjust a little to keep them from slipping while doing a racquet.

Hey! I misplaced the tool used to tighten the clamp base. Any idea where I could get a replacement or what other tool I could use?

You can use a socket wrench, or try tennismachines.com

One of our clamps won’t lift up to the strings. Any suggestions?

I assume it is stuck and will not move at all?assuming that is the case, I would take the clamp off of the machine and pull the clamp out of the base. Really need to see a video if what is going g on.
