As a kid in the early 1970's, I had a Daisy pump up .177 shooting a couple of different pellets and BB's. I had these higher compression pellets that I'd load by the bolt, then drop a BB down the barrel. Goal was how many pumps past the recommended maximum pumps would I need to punch through a 1/4" piece of plywood. Finally nailed it. 😎

As a teenager we carried co2 pistols with hollow tip pellets before we really got ahold of legit firearms growing up in a tough area, for the sheer fact they looked as real as anything else and were known to cause as much damage as a 22 pistol. I knew of someone who did a home invasion carrying one and shot the dude in the head, the guy ended up dying due to this. Very sad, but I knew from that point on even for a pellet pistol I was carrying something that could do damage if needed. Thankfully I don't live like that anymore

Yes, man. Pellet guns are not toys. Neither are BB guns. Pellet guns, however, at around 800+ FPS and definitely 1000+ FPS can kill people. The reason people have this idea that they're not lethal is when the military stopped using them at all and sold the inventory to the public. Yes, even at 1300FPS a pellet isn't dangerous to an armored up soldier... but, to a dude in a t-shirt with no goggles or helmet? That's a different story.

I shot two mothafuckas with my CO2 magazine fed pellet rifle I hit them with the flat nose pellets...they tried to jump me while I was with my mother so I was gonna kill them but god intervened he made the pawn shop make my mother wait three days for the background check she was buying me a new shotgun I had wanted for this issue..needless to say I was disappointed so I was sitting in the living room and my rifle was on the couch I picked it up and start playing with it I loaded a CO2 in it and I went to put my finger on the trigger it accidently went off and it shattered a glass picture on the wall into 100 pieces and that's when it hit me the penetration power it had..I got my mother to drive me in the car I was in the backseat I seen them in a big crowd of dudes my mother was like "don't panic take your time and labor your breathing your objective is to hit those two no innocent bystanders...we pulled up right in front of those two it happened so fast how I got the drop on them I had the rifle aimed at them for like 10 seconds before he broke out of the state of shock when he tried to run I started bustin I my rifle was lemon squeeze and it hit both of them twice one got hit behind his ear and once in the kneecap and his homeboy got hit in the chin and once in his hand and we drove off..I didn't know my Salvadorian homie was driving behind us cause after I shot he zoomed up directly behind us so nobody would get the plates

I grew up in the hood but I got into guns at a very young age because I had family in the country that showed me how to shoot anyway my love for guns kept me out of trouble growing up because while everyone around me was getting into trouble going to jail and prison I was trying to be smarter because my biggest fear was becoming a felon and losing my rights to carry. So as soon as I turned 18 I bought myself a rifle and as soon as I turned 21 I bought myself a pistol I’m not in my 30’s I’ve been carrying and shooting ever since I’ve even got my wife and teenaged kid into shooting so guns have actually been a big positive in my life. Even more so I quit drinking alcohol about 4.5 years ago and shooting gave me something productive or fun to do with my time instead of drinking and instead of buying beer I spent my extra money on guns and ammo for me and my family to shoot together.

I have a Gamo Magnum in 22cal. It is a break barrel rated at 1350 ft per sec. It's an excellent and powerful air rifle. It doesn't have as much velocity as the .177 version but it has more energy when hitting a target. I have some of the various Gamo pellets used here so now I'm curious if the 22 would have penetrated easier and more consistently. Nice video for pellet comparison. There is a difference and some people are not aware of that.
@TheCraigy832 жыл бұрын
unless they're super lite 5.5gr pellets you'll never see 1300fps in .177 , getting 1300fps in .22 is un realistic from a typical break barrel design..

If you make your trigger as light as safely possible, clean the barrel, make sure you have a good scope and mount, use the JSB 10.43gr. pellet, (shoots very well in in .177 guns over 12fpe), and try not to touch the gun when you shoot, (including pushing the butt stock away from your cheek and shoulder before you pull the trigger), you will amaze yourself with 2" 80 yard groups. The grip takes time to get used to, and of course it helps a lot to have a light trigger pull when you are not touching the gun. :) If you can't get tight groups with that pellet over 40 yards, and you know everything is working right,---get your face and shoulder off the butt stock, (I just barley touch for some reference feel). Nobody has figured that out but me, (at least nobody on you-tube),---or we would be seeing 80 yard accuracy tests for springer guns.

With dieseling the Gamo Lethal would go right through, there are also probably some break barrel nitro piston rifles that might also help with the process of getting them to go clean through. More so than anything else though, dieseling can work. Just be careful with it though, don't put pellet gun oil into the piston- you can get decent dieseling just coating the pellets. 3 in 1 oil from the hardware store adds 300 fps easily, but a lot of people claim that it can damage the seals on your air rifle. Just coating the pellets in it shouldn't do any damage though. Dieseling has the added effect of making the projectile more slippery, if you will. So in theory, a lubed up projectile should have slightly better penetration than one that isn't lubed up. Assuming there is enough velocity for it to pass through in the first place- the oil should help it along as it penetrates.

Great information. I would like to see how well they work on small game and how effective they are at a distance

even though they made a hole , something bounced back when you shot those. Must have been the paint. Love your dog.

Thanks! and yea its the skirt from the pellets that bounce back while the pellet keeps penetrating.

Try add a little bit of Vaseline to diesel the back of the pellets to get a higher speed.

@@retroop5922 Yup, I read that somewhere that it will damage the barrel and not to do it on a expensive rifle. Mine cost me about 90 bucks and I did try it and YES it does add speed LOL and blows smoke (kinda cool)

Don't use Vaseline! Use 3 in one oil, it ×orks way better then Vaseline plus you can fire 3 to 4 more rounds without having to to put Vaseline on pellets every single shot to make it diesel.

I hunt squirrels with a .177. Really had problems taking them down with most of these specialized pellets. The basic lead pellets will take one out in one well placed shot. It took 3 and 4 with the special pellets and 20 minutes of chasing the squirrels around the trees. If you're hunting anything I strongly suggest using the basic pellets unless you're out to torture the poor things to death.

If you cant hunt squirrels please dont hunt, just because you cant hit a small animal in good spots tells alot.

@@vendettagrazie5653 Good spots? You mean like right behind the front leg? You know through the heart and lungs. The squirrel I shot with the so called hunting pellet ended up with the pellets in its stomach and other places because it's rib cage changed the path of the pellets. That doesn't happen with the regular old lead hollow points. People like you is what makes the internet insufferable.
