Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, a beloved classic for many late '90s kids who spent hours exploring its vibrant and dangerous open world on their old PCs, is just the beginning of this episode's deep dive into the Grand Theft Auto series. Michael will also be reacting to the groundbreaking sequel, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which takes players on an unforgettable journey through the fictional state of San Andreas. Released in 2004 and developed by Rockstar North, this action-adventure game follows the story of Carl "CJ" Johnson, a former gangster who finds himself drawn back into a life of crime after returning home for his mother's funeral. As Michael explores the game's vast and immersive open world, he'll share his thoughts on CJ's struggles with corrupt authorities, powerful criminals, and the challenges of navigating the complex web of gang politics. With his unique blend of gaming commentary and real-life anecdotes, Michael Franzese is sure to provide an entertaining and enlightening look at one of the most influential and controversial game series of all time.

Tommy Vercetti is Italian and the Mafia are the main antogonists but Vice city doesn't really give you that Italian-American Mafia vibe honestly. It reminds me much more of scarface or south American drug cartels in the 80s.

Michael should react to GTA IV. In multiple parts. Why? It's set in fictional New York, where he did business. There's Italians and Russians involved, so a group that Michael was a part of and a group he did a lot of business with. But it's a BIG GAME with a lot of content. One 15 minute video wouldn't be enough to cover all interesting facts and stories that Michael could tell us while watching it. Multiple crime families, gangsters from different places and eras, thus - different mindsets. Michael should also have the ability to pause a cutscene when he hears something really interesting. PLEASE. Make it happen

Vice City was set during Michael’s heyday of being a mobster, and a lit of the game is based on guys like him. Michael was a captain in the family and spent a lot of time working on financing films with his production company. Best GTA. I don't get the people who say SA is the best. They don't even compare IMO. My only guess is SA is what a lot of people had as their first GTA experience and that's why they love it. First-time experience bias. I've been doing GTA since the very first PS1 release when the whole controversy started. 3 was great for it being their first time in 3D but VC is easily my favorite. Storyline, voice acting, music choices, car choices, world layout...everything was done RIGHT. if GTA Online wasn't a script-kiddie infested hackfest, it might take first place.

One of the biggest mistakes the government made was gutting organized crime in this country. Now, instead of five or six major families running things in a manner that had morals and a strict code of ethics, we have 50k+ smaller organizations with no such morals or ethics and it's a free-for-all with a lot more violence and innocent people getting literally caught in the crossfire.

Great video. It’s good to see Mike. A little background on Mike, for all you young guys, or those that don’t know anything about him…. Mike was a “Caporegime” (which is basically like a Director, in corporate terms) in the Mafia’s Colombo Family. So, he was A Boss (by dictionary definition), but he wasn’t THE Boss of the family. Mike was very highly-respected, and still is by the guys in the Mafia, today. He ran the largest money-making scheme in Mafia history, called the “gas tax scheme,” where he basically siphoned a few cents away from the government taxes on each gallon of gasoline. He left the Mafia to take care of his real family in the early 1990’s. He had an awakening and wanted to put them first, which is not possible when you’re a Made Member in The Mafia secret society brotherhood. He moved himself and his family out to California and didn’t have anything in his or their names and was very careful for many years. His former Boss, Carmine “The Snake” Persico, had a contract on his head for many years, but Persico was in jail, and Michael just ended up outliving most of the guys he dealt with, by being cunning, and things just kind of died down after many years of nothing happening. Michael’s dad (Sonny Franzese) was also like the Babe Ruth of Mobsters, so I personally think his father quietly stepped in, talked to Persico, and asked him to leave Mike alone.

I honestly never really thought about the evolution of technology taking the toll it did on the Mafia back in the 80s. If I recall, this guy is a former capo, not a boss. A capo is a made man who is in charge of a crew. This is different from a boss, which is the highest position and acts as the head, followed by the underboss who acts as second in command. There is also the consigliere who acts as an advisor to the the boss and underboss.

Well the public interest in the mafia has been ongoing for decades. Fact of the matter is that he is the real deal. He is also pretty high up in the mafia hierarchy that he knows so much about the inner workings of it, more than your basic low level grunt or disposable thug would. The other fact of the matter is his alluring presence and way he carries himself, you just want to keep listening. He isn't pushy or abrasive or anything. Just tells it how it is. Great storyteller.

The thing Michael is talking about that can be pointed at someone from 100s of feet away and eavesdrop on conversations is called, i think, a parabolic microphone. Agent Lipari mentions them in an episode of The Sopranos talking about where Tony will have sensitive "business discussions", and mentions Tony won't have them on his backyard because he fears parabolics

Some criminals have used video games to speak to other criminals. Just imagine trying to separate an actual conversation about crime from a normal convo in GTA Online. I've also heard of people using counter strike (and other games) to write out messages by shooting walls and spelling out words. The FBI has also had agents in WoW trying to leech data from players.

The fact that he's able to do this video, and seems as well off as he is, tells me he still has connections and he's just not as "involved" as he used to be. Also, about the device that the government had to point at you to hear your conversations, well they also had (and still do probably) a device to shoot you with that utilized the poison from a cone snail. It's undetectable to feel, and to trace. Made it seem as though you had a heart attack. This guy though, definitely tells a lot of truths that still go on to this day. Just more sophisticated, more in depth, more elaborate, etc.

Sonny was talking crap when he said they look after their own. He didn't give a crap about Tommy and the family didn't do a single thing to help him or care for him. The biker leader Mitch Baker even points that out "that's right we don't ask a guy to do the dirty work and then let them do 15 years hard time" or something like that.
