It's a bit of a shame, that people mostly see Wing Chun, while styles like Hung Gar have more similarities and also use most of the techniques known from Wing Chun, but with more versatile footwork like seen in Pak Mei. But well.. after the 1970's and 80's Shaw Brother's movies not many movies were made showing styles like Hung Gar, but what feels like 10+ IP Man movies and others promoting Wing Chun. The devs actually worked with a french master of Pak Mei Kung Fu (sometimes also spelled Bak Mei) , in order to create the moves. The guy studied the fighting style in China for several years under the leading grandmaster and was officially certified as an instructor. The idea was to use as many legit techniques for the game as possible and they did lots of mo-cap with said master.

I liked how much Noah explained stuff in here. Hadn't seen the three-section-staff boss battle of this game yet, but the movements were *really* cool to watch. Gemma kinda blew out my ears with her awestruckness at it :P But that interest in the choreography is cool to see. I wonder what they'd think of games like God Hand or Kya: Dark Lineage. God Hand definitely would have more interesting stuff on offer considering that game is ALL combat, and has about 100 collectable and customizable combos with quite a large enemy variety, each with their own movesets-- even if they do look similar. Stuff like mule kicks, haymakers, hooks, grabs and grab escapes, even buttshoves and groin strikes... God Hand's got it all. But Kya's still interesting, even if it doesn't have as much on offer. It's a 3D platformer with an art direction like Rayman but a Fighter-like combat system, and unlockable moves range from spinkicks to double salto kicks, to punches that can become big uppercuts, to side grabs where Kya grabs the opponent's left arm with her own left arm past her face, kicks them in the knee with her right leg and then elbows them in the ribs. God Hand would probably be better for coverage, but i do want to spread awareness on Kya. It's a solid game. All that said, looking forward to the next episode, whatever it might be! Also i'd rather not get facekicked by *anyone*, thank you very much.
@ElementalScepticism2 жыл бұрын
God Hand is definitely one of my favourite games of all time, I still have a copy to this day. The unique approach to building your own combos, demonstrating a steep but rewarding learning curve where you basically get to experience the game get more, and more intense the better you play - and easier if you're playing poorly. The bosses in God Hand are definitely fun, too. So unique, and a lot of fun to fight - the music to them is great, too. I honestly think there's a lot there that really shows how good Platinum Studios (back then known as Clover) really was, and how much they're still banging out the hits. The only downside is that I can't say certain things would fly as well as they did back then. I imagine they both would object to the depiction of Gene spanking female enemies as a special move, or the depiction of extremely effeminate, stereotypical gay dudes as a sub-boss. That said, the game is *extremely* fast-paced at certain points, which is definitely another thing that makes it hard to master, but rewarding when you do.

One thing I'd love to see them zero in on: in this game and so many others, when you ground-and-pound an enemy, you only land a couple of hits _and then pick them back up._ Obviously part of that's just game balance so that you can't stay on top of an enemy and guarantee a KO, but I don't know a lot about ground game in general so I'd love to find out if there's something I'm missing. Also, the best thing about Kuroki's three-section staff compared to other 'soft weapon' users like Kratos, is they really nailed _which moves flow into each other,_ and which frames are the 'catch' frames that allow the user to change direction. The momentum never seems to appear or disappear unnaturally.

There's a few more moves that were not shown here and the takedowns make it less repetitive because there's a lot of them. Also it focuses on the player learning each enemy's moveset as much as learning your own.

This is the first time I've seen Sifu gameplay. The enemy's reaction to the strikes are really impactful and make hitting feel good, but it does seems a little over the top that your character barely notices their strikes in return. I counted at least six times in the last fight that someone head or arms or whatever should have gone flying from a direct impact with the blade, and the player character just sorta flinches instead, as if a six year old punched them.

That wasn't impacts, the player was dodging.

Gemma's face on the machete execution is amazing. xD

Love how this game feels somewhat grounded in terms of hand to hand combat. Also love the vague movie references, like the hallway in the apartment level being reminiscent of the Oldboy hallway fight or the Kill Bill fight in the snow.

I've been waiting for this video ever since they released the gameplay footage prior to release, so happy they finally did this!!! Please make a part two, or a video of them recreating the moves

I want to see more of SIFU, more scenes for them to react to since they didn't do the 2nd form of the fight for the museum boss and then do the rest of the game.

I'm glad Noah gave the greenlight to ask, because i want Gemma to kick the lights out of me.😂😂😂😜

Oooh, I like how he mentioned feeling the intention. The "sixth sense". It's kinda like how you "feel" that someone is looking at you, or is behind you. It's that primal survival instinct, fam.

Do martial artists react to judgement/lost Judgement!!! It's got so many cool kung fu moves! Gemma would love it one of the fighting styles is all about kicks!
@Skyte1002 жыл бұрын
Tv tropes says this about their fighting style. "Their largely self-taught martial art style borders on Jack-of-All-Trades and Master of None. It's agile but not acrobatic, stresses defense while their body conditioning precludes them from being impregnable, and focuses on swift yet low-commitment strikes with high-power blows being reserved solely for finishers. What results is a kit that excels in no particular direction but has no real weaknesses either, with the Student picking up the slack through the shrewd deployment of his repertoire and weaponizing his environment in a pinch." They basically only really know the foundation at the start and self taught from there.

It wasn't shown very well, but typically when in a fight in sifu the player character actually looks back with his eyes, during executions or in combat. Constantly looking between targets and keeping situational awareness. Need to really go into the camera mode to notice it though.

Her looking down and through on a 45 helps her see where the opponent is. Almost like a football player tackling the waist. Looking at it can put you on him...seeing past/through him can put you in his future.😊🤫☺️

Pulling off those martial arts moves would most definitely be 'very' hard to pull off when you gotta be flexible but also strong to make a huge impact in attack, defense, or counter...
