I'm trying to put together a Gimli Commander deck, but I'm not having any good ideas. He's my favorite character, and I really want to have a deck featuring him.

Hey I know you made this comment 3 months ago, but just in case you still need ideas: Gimli Mournful Avenger is unique for being a Red/Green Aristocrats style commander. With aristocrats you want to constantly sacrifice your creatures to gain an advantage. Usually these types of deck include black and use Blood Artist effects and Dictate of Erebos to win, but there could be other angles that Gruul excels in. With Gimli maybe you want a +1/+1 counter or fighting subtheme, or do a Voltron beatdown strategy since your commander will grow pretty quickly.
